Finding Nemo - Favorite Encounter?
Finding Nemo is a movie that proves that getting there is half the fun, with Marlin and Dory encountering many dangers, creatures, and obstacles during their journey accross the ocean to save Nemo. Because I just saw the movie for the third time this morning, I was wondering, which encounter in the movie is your favorite and why?
From my current avatar you can probably guess that mine would have to be the sea turtles on the EAC, and you'd guess right. This one is just the most fun sequence of the entire movie, and whoever decided to make the turtles like sufer dudes should get an immidate pay raise. I really love the affect of the turtles' lifestyle has on Marlin and how he loosens up a bit in this scene. Not to mention that the turtle scene has some of the funniest bits in the entire movie, and even if they're not, director Andrew Stanton's voice work on Crush makes them a riot. ("You've got serious thrill issues, dude." / "You so totally rocked, dude!" / "He's trying to speak to me, I knew it!" / etc.) Though the entire movie is wonderful, Dory and Crush are the highlights.

Dude! Where'd the poll go? Is it trapped in the swirling vortex of terror?
I know you're not supposed to edit polls - I edited the first post a couple times but never edited the poll itself once I was done creating it.

I think you should click on "edit" and when you get there, check the "Delete Poll" box and start over with the poll...Jake Lipson wrote:Dude! Where'd the poll go? Is it trapped in the swirling vortex of terror?

Not sure what the choices are, but my favorite is Marlin and Dory's run-in with Bruce, Chum and Anchor. The situation itself is amusing enough but I love the Aussie accents they have. It's so perfect when Bruce refers to Dory as a "Sheila" and also says "Good on ya, Mate!" when she confesses that she's never eaten any fish.
Only thing better would be a female Aussie accent ....

Re: Finding Nemo - Favorite Encounter?
My favorite encounter in this flick was also -of course- the the EAC.... but i think the shark sequence was pretty awsome as well....Jake Lipson wrote:Finding Nemo is a movie that proves that getting there is half the fun, with Marlin and Dory encountering many dangers, creatures, and obstacles during their journey accross the ocean to save Nemo. i also saw the movie for the third time yesterday..... only i saw it in the middle of the afternoon!! but since i live in Israel, there's a seven hour time difference (me being seven hours later)... and so we probably both saw it for the third time, at the same time!!

Loved the turtles.
But I've gotta go with the whale. We leave the fish tank in the dentist's office and float through the ocean, the lovely music and the fish, and we come closer and closer to the whale until we're inside, and Marlin is ramming into its mouth, trying to get free while a clueless Dory drifts about...and then when they're hanging down its throat, and he has to let go. A lot of emotion in that scene...
If it counts as an encounter, I loved Nemo discovering the reef. The piano playing as Mr. Ray sweeps over the teeming fish, with Nemo going, "Whoa," and him sweeping over the seaweed and scattering them...

I can understand that. I don't mind corny, though. Not usually, anyway.IggieKuzco wrote:there me be a lot of emotion... but i actually found it quite corny..... y'know.... the whole "you just can't Nemo.." bit![]()

I must say, I thought the whole film was a huge disappointment (but I know this is because the media had hyped it up far too much). Only 2 bits stand out in my mind as being 'Pixar' good (if such a phrase for approval exists).
1) Dory's nose bleed (how she got it, and also what chaos is causes).
2) Dory swimming in circles lost near the end. I really found this heartbreaking, and if I had to rave about anything in the film it would be Dory. And this bit added so much to that. Ellen should be very proud of her voice work. But one good character a film does not make.

There are several I like. I like the "Fish are Friends...not food" but I really like the scene in the fishtank where all the fish are "dressed up" and where Nemo has to go through the bubbles to become "sharkbait" Their costumes are so cute. I also like where all the fish come from...and where the starfish says ebay!

Dude . . . EAC turtle sequence was totally righteous!
Did you know Crush was originally designed as a hippy? I don't think that would work for me, I'm really glad they went with the surfer thing instead. I also like the part where Nigel flies Dory and Marlin to the dentist's office . . . I don't think anyone's said that one yet . . . those seagulls rock.

"Mine!"
"NEMO! That's a nice name."

Well i, like so many others, believe Dory made the movie so many of her scenes, were great stand out scenes, I also like the fish tank scene where they are all telling where they are from and the star fish (peach) says "ebay"...
I personally am sick of the turtles, it has just been so played out...
I love the part, and I mentioning this one cause noone else has yet, when they are in the pitch black and Marlin calls out to Dory and she says "Are you my conscience?"
Also the whole Squishy thing was really funny too.
