Cap'n Jack Sparrow... in a MUSICAL?? ...

well, not really... BUT read on

there's a new version of Pirates of Penzance done by Opera Australia on tonight (9th Dec) in Aus., ABC at 9:25pm. It has Anthony Wharlow (sp?) and I saw the preview just before and the Pirate King's mannerisms, etc were very similar to Jack Sparrow, costume, voice and all!

The artists for the opera poster obviously used the POTC artwork as the basis. It's too similar to discount. At first I thought there was a real musical about Jack Sparrow and I just don't believe that could be done. At least not well. I'm glad no such musical exists!

Anthony Warlow (Pirate King aka Jack Sparrow) did a pretty good impersonation of Sparrow. After a while, i started to subconsciously think it WAS Jack.

I can see if i can post a few clips or photos up later if anyone wants
