Today, with it being Thanksgiving and all, my entire family was at my grandparent's house. My grandma has this really book bookshelf that is completely filled up. I was looking at it and came accross a spine that read Lady and the Tramp. I pulled it out and quickly started flipping through it. Apparently this book was part of a series of books called The Disney Classic Series. I asked my grandma if I could borrow it and she told me that I could keep it if I wanted to, you know how Grandma's love to spoil! I'm assuming she bought it for me when I was little and kept it at her house for me to read when I was there. Anyways, so I get home and try to look up information on the book series. I did find out that the series is OOP, but I don't know how much the books are worth (probably not very much).
Here are some pictures for those who would like to see:
I still have several books from that series including Cinderella, Dumbo, and the Black Cauldron. I don't think there worth much but there still pretty neat to have.
Not sure about that particular series, but it seems very similar to a range of books known as "Disney's Wonderful World of Reading". I come across them in charity shops all the time these days, so maybe I should be making more of an effort to collect them.
I loved that series. I had Pinocchio, Bambi, The Prince and the Pauper, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Hercules. I believe Mulan was the last one in the series. From Tarzan onward, Disney started the Read-Aloud storybook collection, which wasn't nearly as cool because these were much thinner than the Classic Series.
The Wonderful World of Reading series was awesome, too. They're still in print to this day, but with different artwork both inside and out. One of the things I loved most about those books was the retro artwork. Even if the characters were off-model, it was still cool to see different interpretations of them. I think the Snow White one was probably the most radical. All of the colors were changed to bright neon 70s tones.
This looks similar to children's books published in other countries as well (such as Norway). I can hardly imagine they'd be worth much moneywise, but still worth keeping, of course. Who knows, maybe collectors will discover them eventually...
Books like this were released in Germany too. I still have my BatB book from that series. They're nice. I used to make my mom read it to me like at least once a week. I was obsessed with BatB when I was about 4 years old. I even had a Belle dress.
i dont own any of these books. in fact, i didnt even know about them until now since you said that they probably aren't worth much, i am going to go on Ebay and buy as many of them as I can
i really wish i had all these cool vintage disney things...
