I think the only Bond flick I've ever seen is The World is Not Enough, and at that time I was too young to understand what was going on. I think I should watch some of them. I know my dad has Dr. No on VHS. I'll have to at least try and watch it sometime (I can't stand watching movies on VHS anymore). They should release a boxset with all of the James Bond movies...but it would probably be very expensive.

They did. They put out two boxsets of Bond films that came out a couple weeks ago. I think they're called "Ultimate Bond Boxsets."

If you're gonna start with the Bond series, I'd suggest watching Goldfinger first. It was the third Bond film (well, fourth if you count the TV version of Casino Royale, and the one that truly helped shoot the film to popularity.

They're called the "James Bond Ultimate Edition", which really is just a fancy way of saying "This is the third boxset we're releasing for the Bond films in Region 1".

I'm gonna see it with my 'rents on Thanksgiving caus my dad really wants to go. I can't wait! It's rare to get an A+ rottentomator rating for a major release action movie.

Trying to avoid reviews etc, as it doesn't come out here until December 7. However, I've heard a great deal of positive buzz surrounding it, and wild horses couldn't keep me away from a new Bond.

I SAW IT! I SAW IT! AND IT WAS GOOOOD!!!!! I've never watched a full James Bond movie before. I just lose interest because I guess I feel it's already been seen, it's kind of old, and the movie's themselves are so grown up (it's hard to understand all the evil plans, and what's going on). I actually didn't think I would like the movie too much, and I even heard something about it being bad (I forget where), but I saw it and loved it!

In the beginning, it showed Bond talking to some guy, and then there were quick flashbacks of Bond beating some guy up. This made Bond look so cruel, so violent, so...villainous! I just hated it. If I hadn't been made to watch it with my parents, without a clicker to change the channel, I wouldn't have watched it. But I'm glad I did, because the next moment they started this really cool playing card themed intro! It was so beautiful and cool, with the music and the moving hearts, diamond, clubs, and spades. Oh, my! It just got better and better, with an interesting villain who bleeds at his eye, interesting locations like a museum of human bodies, and then of course James himself was cool, clever, and funny! Go see it, if you want a fun night at the movies! It was definately entertaining, which some movies aren't.

My only gripe, that's not really a gripe, besides the too violent Bond showed in the beginning, was that I wish the Casino itself it seemed more cool. Like, maybe some huge room with flashing lights, darkness, lots of big, flashy, cool things. I dunno. I half-expected a palace from the "Royale' part. But this is something small and dumb compared to how good a movie it was.

Depends on which type of Bond movie you want to watch. Connery Bond is classic, but sometimes it's an acquired taste. Brosnan might be best for a true newcomer, though I'd still recommend watching Goldfinger first. My favorite Bond stories were from the Timothy Dalton Bond, though he wasn't my favorite Bond actor.

Depending on your age, of course... But I find it hard to see that the James Bond movies in general are particularly "grown up" in the sense of "difficult".

Why "old" would be a problem, I don't quite see either - "time" is what makes "classics".

As for the overall "greatness" of the James Bond movies, I think there's a certain "iconic" quality or style in most of them. I guess that's what makes me appreciate the older ones, first and foremost. They also had a strong element of high-tech in their day, but in my experience we've reached a point where there's hardly anything to get impressed by anymore.

I really enjoyed Casino Royale. It could have been called "Bond Unplugged." Its stripped down, now elaborate gadgets or scifi type stuff in this one. The only gadgets he uses are a cell phone and a laptop and some medical equipment. The first half hour is really cool with a wild foot chase through Madagascar. The only really slow part was some romance stuff toward the end but the rest of the film flows pretty well especially since the running time seemed to be under 2 hours and 45 minutes. I'm not 100% sure of the film's length but that was my guesstimate. Anyway, it was a good film and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Came back from seeing it a few hours ago: well, you know how nearly every critic and fan has come back loving it? Well;.... they're right!

The critic who said it was the best Bond film since "Goldfinger" and that Daniel Craig was the best as 007 since Sean Connery was spot on.

Only real flaw was maybe it threw so much at you, it was hard to digest all of it, but besides that, it was pretty much a perfect film from beginning to end. Best movie of 2006, yes even better than Dead Man's Chest!

I lost interest in the Bond films several installments ago... they're barely different from any other political thriller/intrigue movie nowadays. I preferred the days where the villains where somewhat amusing... with weird diabolical plans for world domination... the guys that threw their hats and painted people gold to kill them... that left Bond in a stupid "foolproof" killing machine with a laser coming towards him, that kinda stuff.
