Sleeping Beauty NOT Out-of-Print??? Check this out...
So, I was browsing amazon.com, and I discovered this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... /ref=nosim .
Everyone and their dog knows that the Sleeping Beauty 2-Disc Special Edition DVD from September 2003 has long been discontinued and on the out-of-print list since January of 2004. So why is amazon selling this title as if it wasn't out of print? What's going on? Do they have just extra copies lying around, and they are quietly selling it new???

Escapay had posted about this in the "What OOP Disney DVDs are you seeking" fourm. Sleeping Beauty is indeed OOP, but I guess Amazon had found a new stock of SB DVDs. And the good news is, it's only $21! So if you missed out the first time around, be sure to get this ASAP! Because who knows how long this will be around for...sabertoothcat23 wrote:So, I was browsing amazon.com, and I discovered this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... /ref=nosim .

I know that the chances of Amazon actually having Sleeping Beauty are not very likely.
This was only confirmed by the "will ship in 1 - 2 weeks" message when I ordered it...Oh well, I will hold out hope for a little longer. I can't just give up too soon (on the very big what if? factor). Wish me luck

Yeah Disney!!!

Well, after almost a month of waiting, amazon finally shipped "Meet Me in St. Louis" which I ordered with "Sleeping Beauty." I got an e-mail telling me they could not locate my item and were contacting the destributor to order more. Maybe Disney has a stash of unsold DVDs and would possibly give one to amazon? It's happened before where online stores suddenly have a small stock of "Snow White" 4 years after its release.

Question: Isn't there a part of Amazon.com where it is like ebay or ebay store where it is not amazon selling it but a person that has bought it and now is selling it? That would be my guess.

It never even crossed my mind that it would be bootleg, except on ebay when it was from a different country.DisneyFreak5282 wrote:Yes, you can do that because the DVD is out of print (they no longer produce new copies), and people are selling their copies. But watch out! Some(and most) may be bootlegs.

Even though it may be from the U.S., it can still be bootleg. There are DVD encrypters (or encoders, whatev. they're called), that can take the copyright off of DVDs, and people burn copies, and try to sell them. If you buy from Amazon, make sure they mention the authentic Buena Vista stamp on it. If not it *may* be fake.wrestling_stat wrote:It never even crossed my mind that it would be bootleg, except on ebay when it was from a different country.DisneyFreak5282 wrote:Yes, you can do that because the DVD is out of print (they no longer produce new copies), and people are selling their copies. ok, thanks. If I ever do buy a dvd from amazon, I'll make sure it has the authentic buena vista stamp on it. Thanks again.DisneyFreak5282 wrote:Even though it may be from the U.S., it can still be bootleg.
