Ultimate Disney Forum 2006 Secret Santa - WISH LIST Thread

Post by Luke »

Twenty-seven forum members are participating in this year's Forum Secret Santa. All random assignments have been made and you should be finding out who you will be buying presents for in the next day or two.

This thread is designed to help the person who will be getting you a present to know your interests and of some specific items you might like to receive. If you have a list of DVDs or CDs you own, you may want to post a link to that so your Secret Santa can consider getting you something you don't have that they think you'd like. If you're in the United Kingdom and prefer to have Region 2 DVDs, make that clear and perhaps post links to some e-tailers you recommend for ease and English-friendliness. Or you could even just say a little bit about yourself (your age, hobbies or favorites) that could spark some gift ideas.

Post as many or few items as you'd like. Remember that the recommended amount to spend on this is $20, and while there's freedom to go a little over that if you can/want to, you may very well just be getting one thing - be it a DVD, book, CD, or something else.

If you have any additional questions that you think might apply to everyone, feel free to post them here. And remember once you have your assigned recipient to keep that a secret. Until you sent out your gift, at which point you should make it clear who you are (forum name too). Thanks to all who are participating! Let's make this the bestest Secret Santa ever!

Note: All of the following requests are for VHS. I know, it's stupid buying movies for a dead format and that I need to get with the times, but I do own a DVD player and I own most of the movies on this list on DVD. I just take pleasure in collecting and viewing movies on VHS.

I guess I'll be the first to post my wish list....

The one thing I would really love is Sky High. I know it's available here, but you have to order it off the phone and I don't know the price. But I would love you so much if you got this for me. Also, if you are a member of the Disney Movie Club, I know they have it there for $14.99 or somewhere near that price. Also, if you belong to the DMC and you can't find Sky High, here is a list of other movies on VHS I'm looking for:

1. Herbie Fully Loaded
2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
3. Chicken Little
4. The Greatest Game Ever Played
5. Glory Road
6. Eight Below
7. The Shaggy Dog (2006)

(The last four are just ones I'd heard are possibly available on VHS)

Also, there are a few VHS I'm looking for that can be found at Amazon.com or DisneyVideos.com at varying prices.

1. The Pacifier
2. Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
3. Around The World in Eighty Days

I decided just for kicks to re-order everything from first (I really, really want this and would love you so much if you got it) to last (I still want this... But I want the first stuff the most! :D :P ):

1. (tie) Sky High and Herbie Fully Loaded
3. The Chronicles of Narnia
4. Princess Diaries 2
5. The Pacifier
6. The Greatest Game Ever Played
7. Glory Road

8. Chicken Little
9. Eight Below
10. The Shaggy Dog (2006)

Hope this all goes well this year with SS and everyone gets what they're looking for. :)

Holiday Cheers,
JM :santa: :thumb:

Here's my DVD wishist:

http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html? ... &id=aiwkid

And some other things I've had my eye on:

Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia
Disney Dossiers: Files of Character from the Walt Disney Studios
Kingdom Hearts: The Complete Series
Cinderella: Special Edition Soundtrack
The Little Mermaid: Special Edition Soundtrack
Beauty and the Beast: Special Edition Soundtrack
Aladdin: Special Edition Soundtrack
The Disney Songbook

I realize some of the stuff on my wishlist is well over the $20 price range, so don't feel pressured to get me what's on here. Since I'm also into Alice in Wonderland (yes, really!), Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia, little knick knacks those franchises would easily please me. In fact, Ebay's got a ton of Alice merchandise from Japan for dirt cheap. Just type in "Disney Alice Japan" to see for yourself. Happy buying to whoever my Santa is!

Here's my wish list for now, I'll add more on later hopefully:

Pocahontas: 10th Anniversary Edition
The Wizard of Oz: 3-Disc Collector's Edition
The Lord of the Rings Limited Edition Sets (I'm planning on getting all 3 since I still just have the theatrical versions on DVD so if you want to get me any one of them or all 3, lol)
Bedknobs & Broomsticks: 30th Anniversay Edition

I also don't mind if you just get me an Amazon.com gift certificate for whatever you can afford as most of these are expensive.

All DVDs R1:
Sleeping Beauty 2-Disc Special Edition DVD
Emperor's New Groove 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD
Tarzan 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD
Atlantis: The Lost Empire 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD

I would love my Secret Santa forever if they could find me one of these DVDs. If not, any merchandise from Disney's Peter Pan (not the DVD, I'll be waiting for the PE) is amazing, too!

Also, used DVDs (not bootlegs) are okay. I know most of those titles are OOP, so used copies are great.

Hey Mickey Mouse Pals..............the cost limit is $20 bucks give or take a little, and you have nothing on your list for under $40. How about putting single title movies on your list that people can shop for between now and the 10th of December.........................and no, I am not your Secret Santa.

Will post my wish list as soon as I get it all together.

Actually, <i>A Chipmunk Christmas</i> is sub-$15, but otherwise, ya, I think you're right if you're referring to SRPs.

Anyway, on an MMP-related note, all the assignments are in place and I could send them out as early as today, but I want to make sure people put a little bit of thought into this rather than aiming to be the first to deliver. That said, you'd think I'd want to send out the assignments as soon as possible to give time for thinking, but it's called Secret Santa, not Secret Pilgrim and I'd love it if no one got their gift(s) more than a month in advance of the holiday. FYI, everyone participating is celebrating Christmas.

Maybe I should just send everyone's assignment out but Pals? ;) Or can everyone just virtually agree not to send prior to 11/22?

Actually we should all agree that we don't send them out before December 1st and then it will be more like an early Christmas gift instead of a late Thanksgiving gift. I think that sounds like a pretty good idea.

I can also agree to not shipping before December 1st... I know the first year I did this, Pals sent his gifts to me (If I recall correctly) early enough that it got to me on the 21st... of November. :P

Also, I've got my assignment! Just checked out my email and there was the assignment. I can say I won't ship until December 1st, but there's no promises on buying. :P

No, this isn't my wishlist. Whilst looking at the others, noticed that this is the new link to use for Amazon to give UD a little somethin' as well:

Add this to the regular amazon dot com page:

/dp/0786849193?tag=thehomeimprovemz&creative=373489&camp=211189&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=

Add the ASIN at the end.

I read this and I thought some might be confused. I'll give you an example:
http:// http://www.amazon.com/dp/0786849193?tag ... eativeASIN = greed

http:// http://www.amazon.com/dp/0786849193?tag ... eativeASIN = gluttony

http:// http://www.amazon.com/dp/0786849193?tag ... eativeASIN = sloth

I don't know the other seven deadly sins, therefore the joke ends... now. ;)

Actually, the first number in those addresses have to be replaced with the ASIN too, and I'm not even sure that would work. It's definitely easiest to just do it the normal way with:

Code: Select all

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/[ASIN goes here]/thehomeimprovemz/ref=nosim
It will still get all funky when it's displayed but that's only because I've pasted the script that lets people preview the Amazon prices/availability by just mousing over the link. Figured that would be helpful and time-saving for people.

Four of the twenty-seven participants should have received their assignments by now. The rest are yet to come.
