Your Disney Snowglobes and Other Collectibles

Post by slave2moonlight »

I think Disney fanatics often collect more than just DVDs, so I thought we could have a thread for posting our collectibles.

Here are some pics from my bedroom, since I still live with the fam. The pics might not be GREAT quality because I think I took these (most of them) with a camcorder:

First, the top of my bookshelf. The pic on the right is of Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. I now have a Tinkerbell place mat pinned up above it. It looks like a small Tink poster actually, so it looks really cool:

Image

This one is a bit harder to see. It's the level of shelves below that top one, and it's kinda dark. Those are the Pirates of the Caribbean action figs there (the good quality ones, I think done by McFarlane or a similar company). The ones I have are Jack, Will, Barbosa, a cursed pirate, and Elizabeth (might not have had her when I took this pic, but she'd be sorta behind Barbosa, so it's hard to tell). I really want Davy Jones from they newer wave.

Image

Here's one corner of my bedroom, by the closet, where I have my Bullwhip Griffin poster I got off Ebay. Also have my lightsaber turned on in this pic. There are some Disney stuffed toys on a portable shelf in the lower left, but I've sense reorganized that shelf. Still have the Mickey in the middle though and Figment on one end.

Image

Buzz and Woody on a video shelf by my bed:

Image

Another corner of my room, where my Duff concert poster is (framed with the ticket and a souvenir pass).

Image

My bed headboard (when the bed is made, there's a lot of stuff on it, including plush toys against the headboard (mainly my Muppets, but also Ewoks and some Disney):

Image

So, clearly I collect a lot of toys in addition to DVDs. Not just Disney, but a LOT of Disney (it's my main thing). More to come. Ask me if you wonder what anything is...

Here are some more.

This is one area of my floor where I have Jessie on Bullseye and my remote control Herbie that I got last Christmas. It has never worked well though. I think I need to replace the big rechargeable battery or something. I don't like having stuff displayed on the floor, but I'm in the tiniest room in the house yet I have the most stuff. I'm really not into clutter, but I need my own place (just can't afford it yet).

Image

Here's a shot of the top of stuffed animal mountain and the Jungle Book pet net above it. No, stuffed animal mountain is not all beanies, only the outer layers.

Image

Here's a better shot of my lightsaber and window area. Those are some fairies I got for a buck and the curtains my mom made (they're a little too short, but I like 'em).

Image

Here's my Muppet Kitchen, where many of my Muppet figs are displayed:

Image

This is the top of my dresser (the one with a mirror). As much stuff as you see in this pics, I've got tons in storage boxes under my bed and in my closet. These pictures aren't as up to date as they could be. For example, the animated style Superman and Supergirl I have hanging from the ceiling in this pic has been replaced with one from Superman Returns. The animated ones are now displayed in a Justice League line-up on the side of my dresser.

Image

My Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls on a shelf I put up for them. I made the camel and Raggedy Arthur myself.

Image

The Star Wars themed dresser top (this is my other dresser, which is just drawers):

Image

The front of the same dresser. On the floor in front of it is a big blue trunk. On top of that is a stereo, and these items are atop the stereo. Sorry this is not upright. Yeah, that's an old talking Mickey doll. Haven't put batteries in it in years though. Wonder if it still works (I don't see why it wouldn't...).

Image

And that seems to be all the pics I have. I don't seem to have one of the mirror area of my dresser, where I have some nice Disney statuettes displayed and more figures. I also don't seem to have a pic of my TV (which is in front of the lower half of my bookshelf), which also has stuff displayed on it. Nor do I seem to have any pics online of my doorway, which has some cool posters and Indy stuff over it. I'll have to take some when I get a chance.

Here are my villains. I apologize for the somewhat bad photo quality. I'm going to re-arrange them soon. I'm not sure how, if you have any suggestions, I'm interested.

Wow, there are some awesome records there! Pollyanna? That's very cool! I used to have a lot from the 70s and 80s. Of course, they're not as interesting to look at because they're not so old, and I used to play them like crazy so they're not in great shape (the books either). I did (and possibly still do) have one of "Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby" though. Boy, they'd never release something like that nowadays!

I do either. Just keep in mind that the Wonderland Music Store which is located in Main Street USA at the Disney parks is closing down next month. There could be some reissues left in the store.

My next collection will be Disney VHS tapes. I'll post it tomorrow.

I only have the Jungle Book snowglobe that you get with a pre-order of the Platinum Edition. Generally I put it where the cat can't knock it down.

There are some really neat, big ones I'm dying to get eventually. Right now, I only have one of the big, lavish, Disney Store ones. It's got Mickey in the middle reading a book inside the snowglobe with Tink and Jiminy, and around the globe are a ton of characters, mostly male. I guess it was meant to appeal more to guys (though I always tend to be more into the stuff with Ariel and Tink and other Disney girls because they're so hot, ha). It's got Baloo, Donald, Goofy, Merlin, Chip N Dale, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Stitch, Cheshire Cat, Genie, Cinderella, Cogsworth and Lumiere, and a few others I think, gathered around the globe with Mickey in it.

The less lavish ones I have are an old Ariel one with a Christmas theme to it, an Aladdin one where he is on Carpet with Abu flying over the lava, a Beauty and the Beast one that has a castle base and the figures inside are Belle tending to Beast's wounds, if I remember correctly. Oh, and I have a Hercules one that is a bit bigger and more extravagant than those, and it has Herc and Megara in the globe, Phill too I think, and Zuess on top of the globe and Hades and the Underworld below it.

I may be forgetting some. I also have some minis. I have Ariel (might be one of those on a swing), Cinderella on a swing (these have really nice, detailed bases, despite being tiny), Sleeping Beauty dancing with the prince, Tink, and some Mickey Mouse ones from JC Penny from various years (free on Black Friday, but I've missed a few).

And, then there's one of my prize Disney collectibles. It's a statue of Tinkerbell that I got in London and it has mini snowglobes on the base with flowers or butterflies in them or something (I forget if I'm not looking right at this stuff, I have an awful memory), and it's really beautiful. I was amazed that I got it back to the States in one piece (It was just packed in my checked duffle bag), but I accidentally broke one of her wings off while cleaning one day! I do so much damage when cleaning, seriously! Luckily, it superglued back on so well that you can't even tell it ever happened. I did notice an almost identical one in our Disney Store some months later, but the colors they painted it with were less subtle so it was a little tacky in comparison.

Most of my snowglobes have been gifts though. My older sis got the Beauty and the Beast and Herc ones at garage sales for me, and they were like new except for not being totally full of water, but I've noticed some water loss in that one with all the characters too. Anyone know if this happens with all snowglobes and if it is something that can be reversed? Like if there are places you can take snowglobes like these to be refilled or something? If not, I think I'd rather just collect maquettes, not that I don't already intend to when I can afford to.

Anyway, off the top of my head, a couple I really want are the Pete's Dragon one that is out there now and the old Roger Rabbit one (which one of my best friends has).

Since I'm too lazy to pull out my digital camera, I'll rely on ebay to showcase what I have:

Alice in Wonderland "Drink Me" Snowglobe

Alice in Wonderland "Mad Tea Party" Snowglobe

Beauty and the Beast "Something There" Snowglobe

The Hunchback of Notre Dame "Topsy Turvy" Snowglobe

I also have a general Disney one that I can't find on Ebay. It has various Disney characters floating on Tinker Bell's pixie dust. It's sort of shaped like a boat with Tink at the front. Jiminy Cricket, Donald Duck, Ariel, Stitch, Pinocchio, and Winnie the Pooh are on one side. Mickey Mouse, Belle, the Beast, Dopey and the Cheshire Cat are on the other. At the top (inside their own separate globes) are Dumbo and Cinderella's castle (modelled after the film version rather than the theme park version).

Here are some snowglobes that I plan on getting eventually:

Cinderella "Midnight" Snowglobe

Sleeping Beauty "Dragon Maleficent" Snowglobe

Aladdin "A Whole New World" Snowglobe

Peter Pan "You Can Fly!" Snowglobep

The Little Mermaid "Under the Sea" Snowglobe
