LOST :: Season 3 Discussion
Ok ... so the first episode of the season will be airing on the East Coast in a little bit ...
Let's re-cap where we left off ...
The hatch exploded leaving Desmond's ... Locke's ... and Mr. Eko's lives in peril ...
The Others captured Hurley ... Jack ... Sawyer ... and Kate ... They gave Michael and Walt a boat to leave the island ... They sent Hurley back to the rest of the castaways ...
We found out the real reason why the plane fell from the sky and onto the island ...
We also went off the island for the first time in real time and saw that Penelope (Desmond's love) had been searching for him all this time ???
Tonight's episode is titled "A Tale of Two Cities" ...
From my understanding ... it will mostly be about where Jack/Sawyer/Kate have been held captive ...
I have read that the first 6 episodes before its hiatus will be about who the Others are ... 3 new characters will be introduced ... and we will learn more about our "friend" Henry Gale ... including his real name ...
For more information ... Please visit ... http://www.thehansofoundation.org/

I loved this episode! If this episode is anything to judge by, the rest of the season should be good.
My only complaint would be that it looks more evident than ever that the writers themselves really don't have any clue about what's going on on the island. They just keep adding more characters, locations and questions without tying anything up.

I think the writers know where they're going, they just don't know how they're going to get there. The producers say they would ideally like to complete it in four seasons, five at the most, with talks of a possible movie.
In case you're wondering where I pulled any of my assumptions and/or info, I follow LOST news closely in Entertainment Weekly and TV.com.

Season 3 is off to a great start ...
After a Jack-centric episode last week ... we were treated to a Sun-centric ep last night ...
Week One followed the three that were captured by the "Others" ..
Week Two followed the three that were on the sailboat waiting for the trio that went off with Michael ...
It appears that ... Week Three will follow the trio from the hatch ...
Sun is one of my favorite characters ... and I really enjoy her episodes ...
I am really liking Juliet ... and really despising Ben ... ICK!
Next weeks looks really good ... It appears that everyone that was in peril at the end of Season 2 ... is alive ... and the explosion transported them to different parts of the island ... and Locke is off to find ... and save? ... Eko!
Oh ... and the kiss last night ... Even though I don't like the love pairing of Sawyer and Kate ... They do seem more fit together than Jack and Kate ...
And ... hmmm ... Did Ben make Jack an offer he won't be able to refuse????

*****POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING*****
I was very impressed with last night's episode. I was all like, "Yay, Kate and Sawyer kissed (even though I'm a K-J fan),... he he he the Losties have a boat, Henry Gale (aka "Ben") they're doing better than you thought they were; they have something you really, REALLY want! Holy Crap! Sun just shot someone!!!!"
Anyway, next week's episode will have a naked Desmond, mysterious Locke and Eko, and a possible Boone reappearance in a flashback/dream sequence! Not to mention the arrival of emerging Losties (they've been in the background the first two seasons.....a la Arzt).
Well on to analysis. Did anyone else see that Sun's lover fell out of the window with her pearl necklace he gave her? My thought is that in a future Sun-centric episode we will see that she arrived after Jin left and confronted him, gave him back the necklace and pushed him out the window!!! Therefore restoring honor to her family and forever making her hate her father (not that she didn't already hate him)!!!
Also, I think that Juliet and Ben have a disfunctional relationship and while I really am intrigued/attracted to the Juliet character, I think she may have alterior motives. I think she is being manipulated by Ben, but she may be playing everyone.....including "The Others"....

Well ... ep # 3 was a Locke-centric episode ...
Locke ... Eko ... and Desmond did not die when the hatch imploded ...
It seems that Locke lost his voice ... Desmond lost his clothes ... and Eko is just plain lost LOL ...
Locke finds his way back to the camp where he meets Charlie ... it seems that Locke needs to find his way ... and needs to meditate and communicate with the island to see what he needs to do next ...
He creates a "smoke lodge" (which we learn about from his flashbacks) ... and has an eerie experience ... and we get the return of BOONE! It was so great to see Ian again ...
Yes ... Locke has a strange vision ... quite avant-garde to say the least ... and Boone tells Locke that he has to clean up his "mess" ... basically ... he has to go out and save Eko ...
Mr. Eko has been dragged to a cave by a polar bear ... so Charlie and Locke set out to find him ...
Elsewhere on the island ... Hurley returns ... and finds a ... ummm ... nekkid Desmond ... a psychic Desmond? [singing :: "That's so Desmond ... It's the future that he knows ..."] Cuz Desmond seemed to recall of a speech that Locke hasn't given yet ...
The Eko rescue was successful ... Locke got to burn up a polar bear ... and Locke returned to give the foretold speech about going out to save the trio captured by the Others ... we were also introduced to the two "new" survivors ...

I did not like this episode one bit. So now Lost is turning to the mystical and unexplained? I hope they drop this storyline quick, I don't care how "cool" they think it sounds. Desmond foretelling the future is ridiculous, and I wasn't too fond of yet another convinient vision telling Locke what he should do. Enough is enough.

Rowlf_The_Dog you forgot to mention in Locke's meditation dream he was shirtless going around in his wheelchair then some how falling off of it and trying to stand up and stop his Lost friend (Jack, Sawyer, Kate..etc) from entering the plane....

Ahhhh yes ... a shirtless Locke ... I guess that image was still blocked from my head LOL ...
Yes Locke was concerned about the trio boarding a plane that seemed to be controlled by Mr. Ben ... but Boone said that it wasn't their time to be helped by Locke ...
and other parts of the vision had Locke wondering if he should be concerned about the sailboat trio (Sayid, Sun and Jin) ... but Boone said that Sayid would take care of that group ...
He was also wondering if he should be concerned about Hurley ... but Boone said something to the jist of that Hurley will be fine ...

Turning? Where have you been for the past two years?Disney-Fan wrote:I did not like this episode one bit. So now Lost is turning to the mystical and unexplained?
I enjoyed this episode more than the previous two, granted it was a bit slow, but the first few eps are expected to be slightly ploddy in order to lay the groundwork for the series. I liked the further conundrums, after all it's a freaky island where no one knows what's happening so I say let them throw as much as they want.
I'm really interested to know just what ties Locke to the island, over the past 2 seasons it has been obvious that Locke has always seen the island as something that is alive and has felt he is in communication with it, so will we find out why? The episodes flashbacks were slightly puzzling, normally some revelation is revealled about the characters past, but this week was more a subtle insight which didn't really state anything.
It's still too early to really see where this is going, but there are plenty of interesting avenues and questions for explanation.

You know what I meant!ichabod wrote:Turning? Where have you been for the past two years?
They did actually. When Charlie said: "spoken like someone who's had a lot of messes to clean up", we find out that Locke not only made a mess by brining a cop to the "family", he made another one by letting him go (then there's also the whole story with his dad and all that). In a nutshell, we see that Locke in his past has screwed up constantly, and now on the island he decides to be the hunter, and do something about it. I agree though, it was much more subtle this time around and required paying close attention to the storyline.ichabod wrote:(the flashbacks) didn't really state anything.
Only positive side to the episode: BOONE! Woot! And he even made Locke feel guilty! Double woot!

I keep track of each episode and dupe them to DVD-RW and everyone talks about episode three, which is really episode four. Here is the listing of what has been shown so far this NEW season:
LOST - Season Three
1. A Tale of Survival - 9/27/06
2. A Tale of Two Cities - 10/04/06
3. The Glass Ballerina - 10/11/06
4. Further Instructions - 10/18/06
My DVR only records new episodes and not repeats, unless I set it up that way, so there is what has been sent down the line from ABC so far this season. This week will be episode 5, and so on.

Did you watch it..........there were many scenes not shown in the first two seasons that tie up a lot of loose ends. Here in the Mid-West we were told that the new Season started Sept. 27 with the recap of the first two seasons. They are doing away with that the rest of this season. After three more shows, "Lost" gets lost until the end of January and then will be back with 15 episodes shown without repeats.
I count all new episodes of "Lost", whether they are just recaps or what, as new episodes for the particular season they are included in.
There were two many questions left unanswered in the first two seasons and the "first" episode" may have been a recap of what happened so far, but there was enough "new" stuff in it to fill in the gaps.
I will count it as the first episodes and this week's episode will be number 5. And when Season Three comes to DVD, you can bet that "A Tale of Survival" will be either the first episode on Disc One or included in the extras on the last disc. Or as in the past, included in the bonus disc.
Episode Five is called "Every Man for Himself" and is this Wednesday night right after "Dancing With The Stars" Results Show.

The re-cap episodes do not count when you count the total episodes of the season ...
That is why the re-cap episodes are never included in the box set ... and are relegated to the bonus disc at a select retailer ...
The real 4th episode is this week's episode that will air right after DWtS results show ...
Maybe things are different in the mid-west ... but here on the east coast all of the ads ... tv ... and magazine ... stated that LOST returned Oct 4th ... hence the October 4th episode is the first episode of the new season ...
Grey's Anatomy had a re-cap episode the same night it had it's season premiere ... the first new ep of the season was at 9 ... and the re-cap ep was at 8 ... which included The Fray's new music video ...

Whatever you want ot believe. But if you didn't see the first episode (the recap, as you call it) you missed a lot of answers to a lot of questions that had been unasnwered in the last episode of Season Two.
