2 to 3 years is a long time to wait..Also by then they may be in a different format, if this are movies you want to see; why wait???

Snow White -wonder what the extras will be in the next DVD?

Post by Deco King »

I wonder what the extras will be in the next DVD release of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs - which as I see here is tentatively due out in 2008.

I suppose that there isn't much Disney can do to better the transfer of the first Platinum Edition - although I guess that remastering techniques are forever evolving aren't they?

Personally I hope that as one of the extras Disney will put out The Music In Your Soup in full animation!!

I need Snow White too. The current one is, last time I looked, going for over a $100.00 on Amazon.

Correction, just checked - $154.00 CDN.

I'd certainly buy SW since I missed the first release of it, as I didn't have a DVD player then, but I bought BatB off ebay (still wrapped) about 1 year ago, and they couldn't make a better version for that one.

But I do think that it's unfair to release SW again in the PE line before Pinocchio gets the PE treatment.

I personaly think it's too soon for SW And Beauty to be released after 5 years, so I"m hoping the plan is just an "if" and they throw us a curve ball like they did with Peter Pan. Also it would've been much better if Music In Your Soup was inserted in the 1st platinum release (just add the colors and double check each scene) would've made it even more special. Hoping Pinnicho recieves the same treatment Snow White got for the dvd restoration and bonus feats.

write back please

I think it's way too soon. They should do Pinocchio and the other ones first. By the way, with Blue-Ray coming up, will we get the entire PE schedule all over again? It will take forever to collect them all.

I already have SNow White and Beauty and the Beast, but my niece who loves Princesses doesn't have the DVDs, so if they rerelease the regular platinum dvds (the exact ones from before) then I will get them for her.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

i would much rather them finish the PE line and then make a new line all together when the PE's are done. Maybe my thoughts would be different if i didn't own all the PE's already, but i really really really want a PE Fantasia and Pinocchio first! and it would leave it at an oportune time to release SW.

Peter Pan - Mar '07
The Jungle Book - Oct '07
101 Dalmatians - Mar '08
Pinnochio - Oct '08
Fantasia - Mar '09
Snow White - Oct '09

It would release just 1 year later, not a big deal considering they are making us wait one more year until 101 Dalmatians. I didn't include Sleeping Beauty into that line-up because even though i love that film, it's SE was amazing and i think it can wait to be in the next PE-like line up.

I think the next time SW and BatB are released, it's gonna be on Blu-Ray. Question is, is everyone of us gonna afford a Blu-Ray player by then? And, it will seem most pointless to get a Blu-Ray player for people who still have the old traditional tube TVs (like me) on which present day DVDs look fine.

The snag about the schedule here is, that to release SW for the second time, it's stealing a time slot (of the year) from one of the other movies. But honestly, what on earth do they need to add to Snow White!? The initial Platinum was fine. All they need to do is rerender it for Blu-Ray (if it is gonna be released for that medium) and port over the extras from the 2001 PE. Does SW need to deprive us from another movie during the whole year, when all the work is done and ready!?)

I am super mad at this! What happened to Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, and Pinocchio being BEFORE the re-released editions of SWatSD, and BatB!!!!! I especially think that Fantasia should get a Platinum Edition soon (es mi favoritio!!!).

I'm still holding out for Song of the South to get some release. I'd be a little irritated if I had to sit through another release of both SW and BATB if I didn't get a piece of film history.

I really want Snow White. But I am willing to compromise. Just re-release the same PE again. And bump up something that the others here want earlier. I don't mind.

This is one I'm more interested in, since I have all the other releases. Although, I'll be doble dipping on each release.

I have the movie in a &^%$*()&%#^ Edition. You know what I mean.

I do think that Snow White and Beauty and the Beast will get another DVD release somewhere down the line (I think Blu-Ray will be like laserdiscs, it won't go anywhere), but I don't think they would release it again as a Platinum Edition DVD. That would be rather pointless.

Actually, IMO, they could. Primarily, the next one needs to be three discs, to allow the three versions of the movie that were included on the original release to exist without so much compression.

Yeah I kinda like that order too. Pinocchio should defiantly come b4 SW and BATB. Im still glad Peter Pan is gunna be the next platinum though.

i guess the final line for me is that i would be most happy if disney finished off one line before begining the next, final! i really don't care what order the rest of the titles are released, but please don't make me wait any longer than i really have to.

I also agree that the next release of SW and BatB will most likely be in BlueRay, but they wont only be in BlueRay. Disney will release them in both formats.

I hope thy will release it on BlueRay AND DVD, since I certainly won't have a BlueRay player by then and will still be going with DVD. I really want to have SW, but it shouldn't be released before the PE line is finished.
It just wouldn't be "complete", if they started again in th middle of the PE line.
There would never be a real end of the PE line, when you could say: "Wow, now they've released all the Platinums, awesome!!" They should maybe wait again, 1 year or so, before startig all over again.
