International Packaging Images

Post by 2099net »

Being as we often discuss the international packaging for various DVDs, I've taken advantage of a friend's digital camera to present some examples:

Atlantis UK CE

The UK CE (beware, there is also a single disc Pan and Scan only release) comes in a shiny silver case.

Image

It's hard to see the silver casing properly in these images, but the top comes off like the top of a bottle.

Image
Big Image

Inside is a normal slim Aramay case, holding 2 the 2 discs. I like the simple design of this cover - shame the BBFC symbol ruins it.

Image
Big Image

Atlantis CE France

The French CE comes in a digipack. The cover is one of the more 'artistic' posters from the movie's theatrical release. You can't see it here, but the chracters are slightly embossed on the outer cover.

Image
Big Image

The case opens out to show a panoramic image.

Image
Big Image

Beauty and the Beast CE UK

A 2 disc digipack. The cover is a simple, but effective image.

When partially unfolded the following is visible

And when fully unfolded the following is visible

Image

The Lion King: Exclusive Edition France

A three-disc digipack. The design of this case it superb. The cover his foil-stamped at the top and bottom bands, and the film's logo. (Hard to see on these images). The inner case has the single image of Simba from the US/UK cover on it.

Image
Big Image

Open this up and you are greeted with the view of the pridelands.

Image
Big Image

Fully unfolded the contents are Disc 1, Disc 2 and the French Special Edition Soundtrack CD

Image
Big Image

Peter Pan CE France

When the contents are placed in the case, Peter Pan's shadow is visible on the moon.

Image
Big Image

Take the inner contents out, and the face of Big Ben is seen, along with a playful Peter Pan and Wendy through the cut-out circle.

Image
Big Image

Begin to unfold the inner packaging and you get this beautiful image.

Image
Big Image

Unfold all the way and you get this:

Image
Big Image

Sleeping Beauty CE France

Like many other Disney sets, a digipack with lots of interesting artwork

Image
Big Image

Image
Big Image

Image
Big Image

Snow White CE UK

This came in a strong, cardboard box. The box was designed to look like a book, and does indeed "open like a book"

Image
Big Image

Open the "book" up and the inner cover repeats the opening of the book in the movie, while the Aramey case is laid inside

Image
Big Image

Take the case out, and the 144 page "Art of the Making" book is resting inside a clear plastic holder.

Image
Big Image

The book is much better than the book with the US Lion King Gift Set

Image
Big Image

Treasure Planet Set France

A hard cardboard box holds an extended digipack interior.

Image
Big Image

It's extended, as a 'pocket' holds a copy of the book Treasure Island (in French of course)

Image
Big Image

Inside are the discs - Treasure Planet and Treasure Island

Image
Big Image

Treasure Planet Gift Set UK

A quick picture of the UK Treasure Planet Giftset and its contents, which are the UK DVD, the PC Game and a copy of the book Treasure Island.

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Here in brazil we never have a special packaging than the normal "keep case".

It is ridiculous! disney brazil shames me!

But talking about the packages, i simply love it! if i had a lot of money i never bought more a brazilian dvd, just buying international editions.

Damn you, Netty!!

I hope you're prepared to field e-mail threats from Mrs. indianajdp now that I've simply got to get myself a region-free DVD player. I'm sure you understand that I have to deflect the blame.

Be prepared!

Well the UK CE of "Atlantis" is at the top of my list of things I want to buy after christmas. I have all the others bar the French Treasure Planet/Peter Pan sets but I really love the cover design of Peter Pan.

wow, thanks for posting. Of all those I only have the Atlantis CE and the Snow white Boxset. I live in holland and most of them are available at certain stores here.

I was hoping the U.K. would get a nice Lion King collectors packaging, a la Snow white/beauty and the beast/atlantis. but unfortunately they didnt. Anyway, thanks again for posting these pics, its great to see them all together and 'what they look like inside' :)

and i think these things just happen here in brazil.

at least, all movies here come with a small booklet (sometimes it is just a page booklet) inside the dvd case.

very strange it...

here in brazil we have a "reason" to use cheap cases becuase our dvds are cheap (not for us, but for the international market is).

the standard price of a dvd here is 40 reais (about 12 us dollars).

but there in Usa, the dvd are so much expensive! 20 dollars, 25 dollars, 30 dollars 35 dollars.... too expensive.

I know some americans and maily, portguese people that just buy brazilian dvd, because the dvd itself is good and in it majority don´t have regional restrictions (disney brazilian dvd play very well in a region 1 dvd player)

hehehhe! i simply hate preowned dvds, mainly when the frist user don´t have the deserved care with the disk and sell it all scratched...

What impress me, is you pay 20 dollars in a used dvd, it is a nonsense! very expensive.
