Two episodes of TaleSpin almsot made me cry...

By the way I'm a 24 year old guy!!!!

Even though DuckTales is one of my favorite cartoons it has neevr made me feel like crying. TaleSpin is a different experience. yes it has plenty of adventure and comedy but it also has one thing that DuckTales doesn't capture as nearly as much. That is emotion. Yes DuckTales has its warm family moments but TaleSpin takes it farther than that reaching into deeper friendships and the display of deeper emotions. One really notices this with the bond between baloo and Kit, the potential romantic bond between Baloo and Rebecca, and the mother-daughter bond between Rebecca and Molly. Now fotr the two episodes that really tugged at my heartstrings...

First it was the very emotional "The Old Man and the Sea Duck". What made me almost tear up was the ending where Baloo learns that Joe McGee had died many years ago and Baloo says he was his guardian angel. It was very sweet and a great twist ending. Also a very emotional farewell with Joe's face in the sky as the Sea Duck flies off into the sunset and Joe says "You're as free as a bird now the sky is your's" or something like that. It is moments like this that make TaleSpin feel more like a big budget movie by the plot and the thought placed into the episode. Cartoons today don't come close to matching the emotion and power that TaleSpin had!

Second it was "Her Chance to Dream" in which the ghost of Captain William Stansbury is awakened in the shipwreck below Louie"s. The relationship between Rebecca and the captain is very sweet. Indeed he was such a gentleman who loved Rebecca with all his heart regardless of only knowing her for a short time. This leads to the very sad conclusion where the captain's ghost is painfully sent away in his flying ghost ship by the magic spell finished by Rebecca. The part where the captain says "I'll wait for you" is realy sad and heartwarming at the same time.

These are two of the strongest episodes of the series due to plot and especially emotion!!!! It was episodes such as this that made me wish that TaleSpin lasted a lot longer than it did!!! Has anybody else ever cried or came close to it while watching one of the episodes???

Even though I'm a 31 year old, straight male, I tear up easy during emotional moments on screen. However, I haven't watched all my Tale Spin set yet, so I'd have to get back to you on if I tear up. Don't know if I will, but maybe. Still, ha, I knew you were going to say "Her Chance to Dream." I remember that one being touching as a kid. I believe there were others too that aren't on this first Volume.

Talespin was one of the more mature Disney Afternoon shows. I also always felt they borrowed a little from Cheers for their storyline and the Baloo/Rebecca thing. The later Cheers, Sam/Rebecca thing. Of course, one of my favorite aspects of that show was how they transformed Khan into that slick businessman, all Xanatos/Lex Luthor style.

I am a 39 year old straight male.I only cried once during a movie. I laughed so hard during a Fish Called Wanda I actually started to tear up. Damn that stuff with the dogs was funny.

You got to be kidding me - you are welling up at the emotional depth of Tailspin? That is absolutely pathetic. I liked Tailspin, but true emotional depth - there was none. It was children's TV.

Come to think of it I am sure I also cried during Titanic - from the pain of that three hour piece of crap.

I'm 19, male, and straight. I cried unabashedly at The Notebook. That movie was fantastic.
I also thought Rent was very tear-jerking.

Also, Friends makes my tear up no matter how many times i see these episodes:
- The one when Ross says "It's always been you Rach"
- The one with the Prom Video
- The one when Ross and Rachel break up
- The one when Monica and Chandler get engaged
- The one when Monica and Chandler get married
- The one when Rachel got off the plane (The finale)

"Her Chance to Dream" also made me cry just last year when I found it on VHS at my public library.

The end was sad when Captain William Stansbury tells Rebecca to come with her then Rebecca reply what about my daugher Molly.

Very emotional episode.

Ha, I new someone was going to come back with that question. It's not that gay males are more apt to cry, but they are more apt to admit it. People expect straight males to act like Mr. Toad over here, especially other straight males. You know, that macho facade. I mentioned I'm straight to make a point that not all straight guys try to act all tough all the time. Some of us are sensitive too. So, it was actually your assumption that was negative towards gay men, ha.

Wow I haven't posted here in a while. I guess this topic was too much to past. I think there is nothing wrong with the fact that tyger81382 found two Tale Spin episodes to be emotional. For me, I found three episodes from The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to be emotional for me and all three of these episodes appear on the same video that can be found on online marketplaces. The video is called Newfound Friends and the episodes are "Find Her, Keep Her", "Donkey for a Day" and "Friend in Deed". All of these episodes at the end made me ocnjure up a few tears with the happy endings.
I also believe that it is all right for a straight man to cry during a movie or television show. If a man can find different emotions from different forms of entertainment including reading and watching programs, then that man can understand the emotions of other and can be there for another person who is sad or in grief. It's good to have friends of both genders who can understand how you feel and be there for you.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Baloo/Louie episodes that spoof the old Hope and Crosby Road pictures. I don't think we got any in this set, though there was an image of one on one of the cases. Maybe it's on disc 3, I haven't gotten to that one yet.

You came into this thread only to accuse people (especially me) of making a negative implication, that's what is as clear as day, and why I reacted. If you're going to do something like that, expect a reaction. Just because I am capable of defending myself doesn't make me rude. And, yes, what you described above was a threat AND a fact.
