Well, we got Disneyland episodes, lots of Disney Rarities, two Donald volumes(which you mentioned), more Mickey Mouse Club and a few of other shows, Zorro being the only one that pops into my minds, <strike>and of course Song of the South</strike>.
Most people are saying that's enough to cover only 3 more waves, but we'll see in the future what Disney has up their sleeve.
Well, I'm not sure if there is a strict number of waves that are planned. It just depends on how many releases they can make. I bet that when they first started the series in 2001, they probably thought that only about 4 waves at the most would be made, but as they dig deeper into the vaults they find more stuff and they release it into the Treasures. I'm pretty sure that they'll finish releasing Donald Duck to DVD, and they'll probably release another Disney Rarities volume. They could probably also release a few more Mickey Mouse Club volumes.

I think there's room for many more waves. There is just soooo much in Disney's cannon that hasn't been touched yet. Zorro is being released through DMC so I think it's safe to rule that out. There are unreleased episodes of Disneyland that have to deal with the park that weren't on the release in wave 1. There are more Elfego Baca and Swamp Fox episodes (I believe enough for 2 more volumes) and they haven't touch Texas John Slauter. Spin and Marty and The Hardy Boys have potential for 2 follow up box sets (I think there were 3 seasons of each and they do it by season). They could also do themed Treasures for The Mickey Mouse Club. I always assumed the True Life Adventures would be part of the Treasures, but we know that is now going to be a sister series. There are obviously more shorts that haven't been touched. Donald Duck has two more editions left and rarities has at least another. I always thought it would be nice to see a two disc Treasures release of "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros" with lots of extras about the trip that inspired the films and the uncut verson of SA. I used to watch Vault Disney and there are so many episodes of Disneyland that I'm sure there is potential for many more waves from that show alone!
With the release of the True-Life Adventures in December, as well as four additional Waves, I wonder how long these will go on for. The True-Life stuff being released as a separate entity will seriously dent the Treasures output, simply because they were ones that so many people assumed would make up the Treasures tally at some stage. Mind you, the plus side of that is that they also make room for so many other fine things from Disney's vaults that may not have seen the light of day for years.
As people have already mentioned, there are plenty of Pluto, MMC and other TV episodes yet to come. I'd love to see a second Disneyland volume, or some kind of Christmas spectacular. (Just love my Disney Christmasses). Actually, anything with a seasonal slant would be kind of awesome.
Still, we never know. Until today, I wasn't entirely sure there would be any Treasures this year!
I, too, was afraid the Treasures would be punted to 2007: seeing hi-res photos of cover art makes me giddy with anticipation.
But mostly I'm chiming in because I <i>love</i> Loomis's Christmas Treasures idea. Before the holidays last year I tried to inventory my collection for appropriately-themed material and there were still things I missed---like the "One Hour In Wonderland" special in Alice's Masterpiece Edition. Putting a load of vintage Disney Christmas in one collection (or more!) would be simply brilliant.
My memory isn't the greatest and I wasn't able to find the quote from Leonard Maltin on his website or a search on this forum, BUT I remember reading a quote from Leonard that his team had signed a contract with Disney for four more years of the Treasures. I "believe" that was for Waves 7 through 10.
i just hope that all the vintage cartoons make it to the treasures. i'm thinking that there will be 2 more donald sets. and i am hoping for another rarities set as well. i think there is enough to make at least a second volume of the rarities. there's Casey Bats Again and the Chip n' Dale shorts as well among many others.
I think it's "obvious" that we will see the rest of DD within the next few (couple of) years. I'd also expect one or two more volumes of other theatrical shorts. Then we'll have reached the end of Disney's classic theatrical animated shorts.
Then what? I guess there could still be more volumes of interesting television material. Or one set or more of educational/"public service" animation.
Iger bought back Oswald. Hopefully a set will see the light of day with some or all of those cartoons, plus some Laugh-O-Grams and more Alice Comedies. I guess they could just add a few Oswalds to Rarities 2, but I'd like more than just a couple of them to be released. Also, I was looking through Leonard Maltin's "The Disney Films" and at the end there is a list of all of the episodes of Disneylan/Wonderful World of Color/Walt Disney Presents and there were many more episodes that had to do with Disneyland, as well as many other continuing series, most of which got theatrical releases overseas so they must have been popular and are probably worth seeing highlights in a treasures set like Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox did.
All I know is, I'm gonna riot if I don't get the rest of "Swamp Fox!" When I heard they were releasing a Swamp Fox Treasures set, I stupidly taped over my recordings of the complete saga! Then, I get a few measley episodes! Of course, I want Baca, Texas John Slaughter, and Zorro (however they release that one) as well.
A Disney Christmas Treasures set sounds awesome! Just that title alone sounds perfect! Only thing is, I'd want to get at least SOME stuff I don't have already if I'm going to pay nearly 30 bucks for it. However, I think I'd pay that much for an original version of "Small One," so there's one item they could include. Also, how about the Disneyland Candlelight Ceremony they used to show on the Disney Channel? That was awesome!
Personally, I can think of several sets I WISH they would make. There's been talk among fans of an Educational Shorts set for a long time, but I think that's been mostly speculation. It's a great idea though. Just off the top of my head, it could include the Jiminy Cricket shorts, the "What Should I Do" shorts, and three I have been wanting badly: "Scrooge McDuck and Money," "Harold and His Amazing Pet Seed" (not sure if that's the actual title), and "Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons." I also heard there was an old Alice educational short from the 50's, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. "Donald in Mathmagic Land" will probably be in a later Donald set, I guess. I have no doubt we'll get the rest of the Donald shorts. I hope the upcoming sets include "This Is Your Life, Donald Duck" and "Your Host, Donald Duck," though.
Also, though I know Maltin had said his priority is stuff from when Walt was alive, I would love to see a couple of decade sets for the post Walt stuff. I'm thinking of a "Totally 80's" set that could include "Totally Minnie," "Disney's Fluppy Dogs," and some of the Birthday/Anniversary Specials, particularly the one where Roger Rabbit appears with Mickey. The Love Bug TV series could be on there too. I'd also like to see a 70's Mickey Mouse Club set that could have the whole show (didn't it only have a few episodes? I'm not sure) and the program, "The Mouseketeers At Walt Disney World." Or, a 70's set in general that could have some of that stuff, plus "The Mouse Factory" (or was that an 80's show), and some other stuff. Also, I'm not sure where it would fit in, but I really want Sport Goofy in "Soccermania" to come out on SOMETHING. There's also, "Dad, Can I Borrow the Car," "It's Tough to be a Bird," and "The Muppets At Walt Disney World." That Muppet one could come out on a new theme park set or on a DVD by itself though.
Lastly, I'm clearly a completist and would like to get my hands on a DVD of everything Disney has, but I'd also like this stuff in particular:
The Ludwig Von Drake shows and "Pacifically Peeking" with Moby Duck
Kilroy
Disneyland Showtime (I think that's the one I mean, with the Osmonds and Kurt Russell)
The EPCOT Opening Day Special and any others
Follow Us, To Walt Disney World
Disneyland, USA
Carnival Time
The Theme Park Anniversary Specials from the 80s
The Return of the Shaggy Dog (though that might come out in a Shaggy Dog rerelease, like Parent Trap 2)
The Shaggy Dog and Computer Wore Tennis Shoes TV remakes
Bruce Campbell's Love Bug movie
The Wuzzles (I suppose this could have its own DVD release like the other animated shows though)
Major Effects
Yes, we definitely need more on the theme parks, especially Florida! Not to mention an "Uncut Disney" Treasures release for the full versions of Make Mine Music, Melody Time, and anything else that has been edited (did they cut Saludos Amigos? What did they cut from it?). Of course, Song of the South would be a dream come true. Another good idea would be a set purely for EPCOT, though one thing I don't want to see much of is double-dipping, and it would seem to be too perfect for the EPCOT program that was in the Tomorrowland set. Still, an EPCOT set could have the Opening Day program with Danny Kaye, Captain EO, Maybe any movies that used to run in the park, the programs from the souvenir videos they have sold there...
One last thing. A friend of mine sent me a Disney Treasures themed Comic Collection recently! The cover is made to look like the tin boxes of the Disney Treasures sets, and it contains great Disney comics from around the world! Look for it on Amazon! It's really neat! As for the stuff I wrote above, I'm sure I could think of much more too, but I don't want to over do it, ha.
Hopefully "Secrets, Stories & Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth" will satisfy the appetite for behind-the-scenes-at-Disneyland material for a while, although I do remember lots more specials taped at the park over the years. I'm sorry, but the old Disneyland U.S.A. Treasures should have had 6 episodes, not just 4. And when Disney World came into being, there were plenty more specials. Maybe they should do a Disney World Treasures next?
Thought they released all the Pluto cartoons the first time around...
How many Silly Symphonies were filmed? I always thought there were about 100. The press for the upcoming tin seems to indicate that this second volume will finish off the series...is that correct??

There are 75 Silly Symphonies. 37 were released in the first volume, and the balance are expected this December.
"I hope we never lose sight of one thing - that this was all started by a little girl and a cat. And a rabbit."
I was under the impression that we still weren't sure if they were going to give us, "Secrets, Stories, and Magic" or not. I certainly have been wanting that one. There's also a DVD out on Disney World from one of the educational channels (I forget which, A&E, Travel, Discovery, or one of the others). Still need that one too, because it's pricey at the local Barnes and Noble. They had some other interesting Disney related DVDs too, if I remember correctly. Stuff like that.
I definitely would love to see a set all about Disney World, as that's the resort my family has stuck with over the past couple decades (mainly because of all the parks, as we're practically an equal distance from either coast (very far: since we're on the southernmost tip of Texas, it takes a full day of heading north within our own state before we can go East or West). However, there are so many specific programs I want that I still hope to see more Disneyland sets too.
It's true, one of the main complaints I've heard relating to the Disney Treasures collection is that the Disneyland USA set should have had more on it (and that it had some editing done on it). The only other major complaints I've heard have been about the Swamp Fox/Baca set not having all the episodes, the Goofy set not having a "Play All" feature (an otherwise wonderful set), not enough episodes on the Mickey Mouse Club set, and various programs needing restoration. Of course, I think we're going to start hearing a lot more of the "double dipping" complaints too, especially with the upcoming "Your Host, Walt Disney" set.

In short - they did not.
But I guess there's reason to believe that they were about to make it a complete set, but then changed their mind... Rumours before the release and I guess the design of tin suggest that.
Perhaps they figured that a complete collection in a 2-disc set was just a tiny bit too much.
They should have had vol. 3 of Donald Duck in this release, and pluto in the next. As it is, all that is really left are two volumes of Donald and it would have made more sense to break them up. Unless they are going to do a chip and dale or something like that - double dipping has already happened, so it wouldn't be out of the question I guess.
Thank you Sharp and Lars for the answers. Yeah, it's kinda weird, this time around cause there's no more cartoons left except for Donald and probably one more Rareties set. I can't even think what would be in that Rareties...I guess Cleo & Figaro, but they should put those into the next Pinocchio release anyway. There's lots of educational shorts, I know. I truly can't think of what else is floating around out there anymore in terms of short cartoons. Some more Alices? Some of the original Oswalds? (I don't think Disney has the right to exhibit those). I believe someone said there's another Casey at the Bat cartoon. But other than that, Has anybody compiled a list of what could possibly be in Rareties 2? It would sure have to have a few bells and whistles in order to sell...
