"Cars" Themed Attractions?

Post by stlewis75 »

According to Bob Iger:

"And down the road, you shouldn't be surprised to see a "Cars"-based attraction at one or more of our theme parks around the world. We see enormous potential for this entertainment property."

It remains to be seen whether this means an Autopia facelift or an entirely new dark-ride-style attraction. I suppose it could be a coaster... that would be sweet. I'm mostly just excited about the idea of new attractions.

My first thought on this is possibly changing to Tomorrowland Indy Speedway to a Cars themed attraction. This could work with Test Track too; but I see that as less likely to happen.

The only problem with changing Autopia or TIS, is that it would be hard for the cast-members to control run the place. Think of all the little girls saying "I want to drive Sally!" and the boys being mixed saying "I want to drive Mater or Lightning". While the parents would be stuck with Doc Hudson as adults don't care and no kids would want to drive him.

But aside from that, I actually don't mind if it happened and would be all for it. I don't feel annoyed like with the Nemo submarine because unlike Submarine Voyage, neither Autopia or TIS really ever fit into Tomorrowland.

There is concept art for the new Toon Studios at Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris Resort. A big part of the Toon Studios iss Pixar related rides and in addition to the Crush Turtle Twister Roller Coaster, there will also be a Cars themed teacups like ride Cars: Race Rally:

Just last month, Walt Disney Imagineering officially broke ground on Cars Land, that 12-acre Disney’s California Adventure addition which is supposed to be open for business by the Summer of 2012. In a space that once provided parking for 2,226 cars, you’ll soon be able to explore Radiator Springs, the cutest little town in Carburetor County.

Kathy Mangum, of Walt Disney Imagineering, described Radiator Springs Racers at length. It will be an interactive thrill ride with a plot that has endings randomly generated by computer, she said. Guests in groups of six ride cars with personalities that are also computer generated.

The menu for Cars Land's eateries will be influenced by Imagineers' research trips on Route 66, she said.

"We had a lot of chili and we had a lot of pie."

Yep, the Radiator Springs Drive-In Theatre is going to have an awful lot in common with that ridiculously popular Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ eatery, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. In that Guests will be seated inside of old style convertibles and then watch Pixar-ified versions of 1950s horror films while they dine on classic drive-in fare like cheeseburgers & chocolate milkshakes.
:pink: I LOVE the Sci-Fi, so I definitely need to make it to California again to check out this restaurant! As long as they have the BLT soup, I'll like it even more than the Sci-Fi!

there will be a component of DCA’s now-under-construction Cars Land addition that will then allow subscribers to Disney Pixar The World of Cars Online to have a truly unique experience. Something that will make their visit to Radiator Springs distinctly different from the one that the typical Disneyland Resort Guest experiences.
