"Cinderellabration" Closing

Post by AwallaceUNC »

From WDWMagic.com:
The final performance of Cinderellabration will take place on September 16th 2006, with the replacement show slated to open September 30th 2006. It is not yet clear what the replacement show will be.
We always knew it was just here for THCOE and I'm actually relieved to see that they are staying true to their word so far. I always expected the replacement to be "Cinderella's Surprise Celebration," so the possibility of a different show replacing it is interesting.

Same here, Aaron! Wow. Maybe they'll have a Little Mermaid tie-in? "Arielabration"? "Ariel's Surprise Celebration"? "Ariel's Platinum Edition Party"? :P

Haha! That'd be awesome! On the other hand, now that I think about it, a Little Mermaid show would be awesome, but it would be difficult for her to perform unless they wheel her around on clam or something.

AHHHH, Fidget1234, I don't wanna see something like that!! He's already present enough in the park. It was one thing to give him an attraction that replaced and mooched off a former one. It was another thing to have him meet and greet at Animal Kingdom. But a show is really just TOO MUCH! Okay wait...if he just makes an appearance, that's fine, but that's it.

That's what "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" is for!!!

Personally, I'd like to see the return of CSC, which has been rumored/speculated ever since Cindy-bration started. But a wholly new show would be fine too, so long as:

1. They keep the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto)
2. Possibly, add Daisy for Donald
3. Keep Chip'n'Dale
4. Have an actual story that involves villains
5. Put Aladdin in there somewhere (I always hated that it had to be Jafar vs. Genie, while every other villain battled the main hero of the movie they were from).

I never sat through Cinderellabration and if I don't make it down before it closes I'll be disappointed, but not heart broken to see it go. I wouldn't mind seeing a new show either; but I have a feeling Cinderella's Surprise Celebration will return.

NO! If Cinderella didn't get a Walt Disney World Platinum Edition party, they'd better not give that little mermaid one. Besides, you can bet that they will give her a shindig at the El Capitan, just like Cinderella got, as this suggests.

Anyway, the reasons that they had Cinderellabration in the first place:
  • The show was immensely popular in TokyoDisneyland.

Cinderella's Platinum Edition was coming out and it was going to make her temporarily more popular.

    It's Cinderella's Castle.
So a show just about Ariel would not make any sense. She can be featured, but Cinderella should have her own show at her castle.

And by the way, Esacapay, The Voyage of The Little Mermaid is closing because of the Broadway show coming in 2007. This is the same reason why Tarzan Rocks! was closed, because Tarzan came to Broadway. Now, they should have something for Ariel, so why not that dark-ride they planned (and we'll get to virtually ride on the DVD)?

Wow, I didn't realize The Voyage of the Little Mermaid was closing. Perhaps they are planning on a dark ride for her since we're going to be given a ride through of it on the DVD.

If you miss seeing Cinderellabration, download the better, original show now :)

The dialogue is in Japanese, but that doesn't really matter b/c there isn't that much and it's pretty much self explanatory. Also, the lyrics in the music are in English. It's like that for a lot of Disney shows in the Tokyo parks. I'm not quite sure why even when some of the shows are Tokyo originals.

That sad about The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, but it is getting rather old and after watching it recently, it goes quite fast and a better Mermaid attraction replacement would be more favored IMO. I do hope we get a TLM dark ride! It would be nice to add a high capacity, consistently running attraction at Disney MGM Studios and a TLM ride would be excellent. Also, I can't wait for the Broadway show to come out!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Plus, DAK has Festival of the Lion King, which isn't the same as The Lion King on Broadway, but is still a stage show based on the movie.

Anyways, I'm saddened to hear that Chip, Dale, and Pluto won't be in the new show, but still excited to see that Peter Pan and Hook are still in it!

Disney Duster LIED?!?!?!?!

Post by Disney Duster »

TheLittleMerman wrote::? Um ... since when? Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage! wasn't just shut down when Beauty and the Beast made it's Broadway debut.
Whoops. I guess I was wrong. Apparently, the reason Tarzan Rocks! went was because it had a large cast and a live band, making it expensive, but The Voyage of The Little Mermaid has a small cast and a click track, so it's cheap. So it's good news that it's staying, but bad news because it makes a Mermaid dark-ride unlikely. :( Sorry I confused everyone. Looks like Voyage is staying!

Also, I think the Broadway Mermaid is actually expected to arrive in 2008. I was doubly wrong.

And thanks for the info on the replacement show, The Little Merman!

I thought it was closed because of the largely unfavorable reviews from both critics and audiences!

Tarzan Rocks! had unfavorable reviews? It was always one of my favorite shows whenever I went to Animal Kingdom. Or are you referring to the Broadway adaptation, which does have a mixed bag of reviews (mostly due to the fact that some portion of the audience can't see some portion of the show or something like that).

new castle show

New Castle Show - The new Mickey/Dream Castle Show is a high energy, musical revue that features the World Famous Walt Disney Characters and six dancers in a fun-filled, dream-inspired celebration in front of Cinderella's Castle.

Sweet. Thanks for the info TLM! I wonder if Aurora will have a starring role or Cinderella or anyone for that matter. I liked that Cinderella had such a prominent role in Surprise Celebration.

Where are you getting your information?

I hope the songs picked are good. Perhaps they'll give us a preview with an Enchanted song? That would be awesome!

I'm not thrilled with the "Cinderellabration". I've seen it on numerous sites like YouTube, MouseTimes and others. I wish the new Mickey's Dream Castle Show would be a permanent replacement. I love Pluto, but he is not going to be on that show along with Chip & Dale.
