Duck Tales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp
Duck Tales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp
This classic seems to have been forgotten. I'd love for Disney to release it on a special edition DVD set. It would be cool for the set to have the original Duck Tales premiere too that was an hour or two long. Anybody with me on this?

At one time or another I believe this one was slated for 2003. I'd be very, very suprised if we don't end up with a DVD by the end of next year. I'm sure it woult be a full-blown special edition, but I'd expect some modest extras -- a couple episodes of the TV show, the trailer, maybe a commentary track if the filmmakers are still working with the TV department over at Disney and maybe a nice new restored print of the movie. (I'm not holding my breath on the last one though.)

Quoting Luke on the Other Animation page of the main site: "DVD coming soon (probably early 2004), no date yet set."
Also, when I recieved the studio VHS from some wierdo online who saw my rather large Amazon wish list, one of the first things I noticed was that there WASN'T a notice tacked to the front of the movie saying it was P&S, as there usually is with Disney tapes. You know, the "This film has been modified from its original version and formatted to fit your TV" bit, that wasn't there.
I think it's quite likely, since DuckTales was based on a TV show and was the first WDTV theatrical feature, that the proper aspect ratio IS 1.33:1 and that it was cropped to 1.85:1 for theaters. So if this is released in fullscreen, it's very likely NOT a slice and dice transfer.
