Has this happened to anyone else before? Empty Disney DVD?

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Ok... The following 2 stories are true and happened to me a few years ago at 2 differ wal-marts and both were not super centers

Scenario #1: My Parents had boughten me the Fantasia Anthology at a Wal-mart as part of an agreement to behave and since i told them it was going OOP and it was also considered an early Christmas Gift. Anyway we are half of the way home which this wal-mart was about 50 miles from where we live. So they agreed to let me open it about 25 miles down the road. So I open the DVD set and let me remind you that the DVD set was Factory Sealed and Wrapped. Anyway I open it and Fantasia original dvd is there, the bonus disc is in the box but the Fantasia 2000 disc.... MISSING. Also as I said above it was factory sealed and the reason we know no one stole the disc is because Fantasia Anthology wasn't just on shelf. It was in a locked Glass showcase. So we go to another wal-mart that is closer to where we are since the wal-mart where we bought the DVD set is 30 miles away from where we are. So we go in say we have a return and they ask us why and we tell them the dilema.... and they say they cant take it because something about it must be returned to that exact wal-mart because they are a super center and the purchased dvd set is not from a super wal-mart. So We drive back to the original Wal-mart and explain the situation to the electronics department and they did and even Exchange and thank god the discs where in the replacement.

Scenario #2 about a few months later we are driving down the road in a county only 30 miles away from home and all of a sudden the radio said there is a Tornado Warning spotted for the county we are in. So we take refuge in the town's local Wal-mart. I start to run in and say every one get down tornado is a coming... and hide under neath some clothing in an aisle and sit like im about duck and cover. Anyway moving on once my mom convinced me that the tornado isnt coming for the wal-mart we are in I come crawling out of hiding. Anyway So while we were there we did some shopping and I saw some DVD 2-packs. I think the one set was Disney's Jungle book (Live Action) and Jungle 2 Jungle starring tim allen and another was Life Size and Annie the abc wonderful world of disney version. then the final one is Mr. Magoo and My Favorite Martian. So we check out and then we get to the car once the tornado warning for the county lifted and before we drive away we start opening the dvds just in case one happened to be missing from its case. Then I was shocked when my mom opened the Jugnle Book Live action movie and the Jungle 2 Jungle movie and Jungle 2 Jungle disc was missing. Again same scenario it was Factory sealed not pre-viewed and they acted like we were the Scammers of the year. Even though we showed them the reciept and it had a date and time which was 5-10 minutes after we left the store the clerk said These cases look to worn to have been bought today. And so finally I go to the car and gather up all the security tape that was on the dvds we purchased and the labels and thank god that finally convinced them to let us do an even exchange. So Next time your buying a DVD or Espically a Disney DVD box set or 2-pack at a wal-mart or anywhere... always open the dvd in front of the clerk checking selling you the dvds. Thankfully it has never happened since then but I still to this day check all my dvd's that i buy at the counter and open them in the store in front of a store clerk so that way if it should happen again.... I'll be having better luck of getting an even exchange instead of not getting the DVD.

Well it surprises me it happened twice to you. Bought over 2,000 Cds and DVDs. Never had an empty one. Once had the wrong CD in the case but never a missing one.

I once got a misprinted cd. The artwork on the cd was correct, but the music was not the artist I bought. However, never had a missing DVD and have purchased around 500.

Wow, that must've been painful to drive 50 miles, especially because you're not driving. (I hate making my parents drive back and forth for something I need.) It is worth it though to get the full Fantasia Anthology. :)

That's strange. It never happened to me before, except to my Sims 2 PC Game which should have 4 discs, while mine only have Discs 1, 2 and 3 in it.

I picked up DuckTales: Volume 1 whilst in America last February. When I got back to England, I discovered that Disc 3 was missing. And since I live 3000 miles away from the Best Buy I picked it up in, I couldn't get a new one for free. :(

I've had a set come with a missing DVD before. It's the most infuriating thing in the world.

Never happened to me, but mistakes are made from time to time, obviously. It seems that there are actual people who do the packaging, because sometimes the discs come with fingerprints...

Very weird story. This, luckily, has never happened to me. Well, at least you got a replacement on the movies, especially The Fantasia Anthology. I would have driven anywhere to get all of that wonderful boxed set. I have it, and I thank my mom so much that she bought it off of eBay. Otherwise, I would have had to wait until Fantasia came out on it's Platinum release, because I don't have any way, shape, or form of Fantasia, besides the boxed set. Weird story though!

Out of 1000 plus DVDs, I have only had that happen once... I got the Limited Edition of Supergirl, and it was missing the second disc, I believe.

Wow! What a set of stories! It's quite sad that you purchased empty DVDs twice and they gave you a hard time the second time, but what really got me was the Tornado part. I'd be terrifed to be warned of a tornado and then have to hide in a Wal-Mart then you all realize you're safe and shop around your hiding place! I'm glad I only live in NJ.

Anyway, back on topic...

This has happened to us once before. I got my sister Pearl Harbor at the Disney Store for her Christmas present when it first came out. Christmas morning, we open it and find we only have disc two! The Disney Store gave us a full refund and my sister decided to buy it at Sam's Club instead. She saved some money, but we also had less coupons and advertisements than the Disney Store copy.

Oh and btw, that's totally awesome that you got to meet Roy Disney AND tour the studios for five hours!!! You're so lucky!!!

That's a total atrocity! I don't expect that even from Disney.

I suppose there's only one way to prevent it; obviously as you said, open the DVD on the counter. I always do that, especially as I've had to endure defective Disney DVDs (which are genuine) and cracked region 2s.

(I don't suppose the tornadoes are stealing some DVD discs away, are they? :) )

Anyway, enjoy your Disney DVDs!
