~Stitch's Great Escape at Magic Kingdom in WDW. Boring and full of too much gross-out humor for adults, still dark and thus scary for a lot of the kids. Weak storyline, full of Lilo & Stitch plotholes, and a major contributor to the Stitch overkill that was plaguing WDW. He's on the official 2006 logo merchandise at WDW and Disneyland along with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. Sorry. I like the character Stitch a lot, but he's not a Fab Five guy, and this attraction displays the absolute worst of him. Where's the cute and fluffy little alien who didn't want to be destructive and bad, but wanted to be part of a family? THAT'S the Stitch that resonated with me.
~The "Main Street Cinema" at Magic Kingdom in WDW. Why? Because it's not the cinema anymore; it's a gift shop/Virtual Magic Kingdom center. Granted, it's one of the best gift shops IN MK, but I'm sure there's plenty of space where that merchandise (movies, music, being able to burn out-of-print Disney CDs legally, books, etc.) where that merchandise could be sold from. The camera shop on Main Street by Exposition Hall? The former Art of Disney location on your left as you enter the park? Main Street Cinema should be restored to showing early Disney shorts, or else it needs a name change because it's disgraceful. A few years ago, the marquee actually said "NOW SHOWING: MICKEY THROUGH THE YEARS" but if you went in, there were advertisements for other Disney parks on the screen and the place was flooded with merchandise. Those cartoons should be shown somewhere.
~The Chester and Hester's DinoRama area in Animal Kingdom at WDW. It is ugly and cheap-looking. Primeval Whirl is a fun ride, but the look of it is so bad. Cheap pay-to-play carnival games are fun, but they work at the BoardWalk, not in a dinosaur-themed area of Animal Kingdom. A definite eye sore that just doesn't theme with the rest of the park.
~Journey Into Imagination at Epcot. They took away Figment, people were mad. They brought him back, people were grateful for that, but let's face it, the new ride just isn't the same. Take it out and if we can't have the original back (we COULD, I'm sure, it would just take more money than Disney wants to spend on it), give us a charming, fun, Figment ride in the spirit of the first one. Dreamfinder would be a major plus. And while we're on this subject, I like Honey I Shrunk the Audience, but it's really showing it's age. The picture quality pales in comparison with Mickey's PhilharMagic. Could be time for something new there. How cool would a 3D movie starring Dreamfinder and Figment be?
~The movie at the end of Maelstrom at Epcot. It isn't bad, but so few people stay to watch it.
~The Tragedy...er...Magic of Disney Animation at Disney-MGM Studios. The Animation Academy part is fun, and I wouldn't mind if they found a way to keep that (I LOVED doing that on my CP), but this is a complete disgrace. It's bad enough they closed the studio. They took away all of the other stuff that was there that talked about how it was all done. Even if Disney never animated a 2D film again, that's what got them going...that's a HUGE part of the roots of this company. The displays in there are just so...pointless! "Record your voice in a Disney film." "Which character are you most like?" Fun one-shot stuff, but certainly not a must-see and not worth going back to again and again. Put something worthwhile in there. A "One Man's Dream" type attraction (gallery + movie) that goes through the history of Disney animation would be so cool.

I vote Honey, I Shrunk the Audience for various reasons.
For one, shows(specifically 3D/4D ones) are the easiest attractions to replace at theme parks. They hardly take any space, and there really isn't much work besides playing a different movies and rethemeing the theater.
Disney currently has 4(well 3 at Disneyland) 3D shows. This one seems to draw the less crowds, so it's not really much of a crowd puller as it used to be.
Finally, it feels really out of date. "It's Tough to Be a Bug" is still popular and could be for a while after Disney's purchase of Pixar. Same could be said for "MuppetVision 3D". "Mickey's Philharmagic" is not only new, but kinda timeless since it's really just seeing songs from your favorite animated classics in 3D! But how many kids of today's generation actually know about the "Honey I Shrunk" franchise?
So to me, this feels like the perfect attraction to leave.
At Disneyland they could replace it with the original Alien Encounter(I can dream
) while they could easily replace it with a new 3D show at Epcot.

There are lots of good comments here. I noticed immediately when I went on the Stitch ride it was simply Alien Encounter redone. The ride is identical--there is only a new alien.
I was also very disappointed by the new Imagination ride. They should unquestionably restore the old ride. It is too juvenille now. I won't go back on that ride unless they change it.
I would certainly like some major improvements on Main Street at WDW. I believe you can still watch vintage cartoons on Main Street if you take an immediate right after passing under the train station. In the back of the photography studio there is a place to sit and watch old shorts. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I would love for them to change Main Street radically. I wish the street had more charm. If they had more interesting stores it might be more worthwhile to hang out on Main Street more. As it is, Main Street is only a means of getting into the more exciting parts of the park. I think it would be neat to include a classic candy store with a soda jerk and malts or something. If they already have that then I have forgotten. And I am talking about something different than the existing ice cream shop (which is also cool, but too slow).

Tomorrowland Indy Speedway - Sorry, but this is boring and extremely out of date. You can walk faster than these cars drive and the driver has no control- the tracks have you jerking all over the place. I get that kids like it, but this takes up a tremendous amount of space. Either give it a major facelift or replace it.
The Magic of Disney Animation - A great idea and once a pretty cool attraction. The potential still exists, but unless Disney plans on realizing that potential, then they could use this space for a much-needed new MGM attraction. I'm surprised this isn't a "seasonal" attraction yet.
Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama - I love Primeval Whirl, and the idea for the area isn't bad, but it desperately needs to be rethemed. As others have commented, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth for many guests. Give it a new appearance (get rid of the asphalt, go with more elaborate and classier ambience), take out one or two of the carnival stands, and bring in one additional higher-quality attraction.
Pooh's Playful Spot - Yes, I know it just opened, but as it was only meant to be temporary, I would like to see it annexed by Toon Town or closed down so that the 20KL area can start being developed for bigger things.
Spectromagic - It's one of my favorite parades, but I have to admit that it's gotten rather out of date. It feels very 80s/early 90s and nothing since Aladdin is represented in it.
Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade - Easily Disney's weakest parade, they could produce something more worthy of a crowd's wait.
I'll agree that Disney has allowed HISTA to slip out of date in Epcot, but I love it and am not ready to see it leave just yet. As for the Main Street Cinema, there's word that Disney plans on restoring it to its original form, which I would be very pleased to see.

I've heard that they do that there in Exposition Hall, though I've never actually seen this going on while I've been there. They don't publicize this information very well; maybe there's a schedule and I was there between showings? I just think that area is so far removed; put the Cinema gift shop stuff THERE and put the cartoons back in the Cinema where they belong. (Or do something good in Expo Hall like they had a movie for the 25th Anniversary and rearrange the Emporium so that they can have music and movies for sale in MK.) Besides, the Expo Hall "theatre" is where they store the candy for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, so it's closed off to the public for September/October.MichaeLeah wrote:I believe you can still watch vintage cartoons on Main Street if you take an immediate right after passing under the train station. They have a candy shop, but no soda jerk/malts. That's a GREAT idea. The candy store is the first one on the right as you start down Main Street, if I recall correctly.I think it would be neat to include a classic candy store with a soda jerk and malts or something. I like the ice cream shop, but my favorite snack place on Main Street is the bakery.

I forgot about that one! Yeah, that can go; I hope they mean it when they say 'temporary.' Disneyland gets Nemo Subs and WDW gets...a toddler playground. Not that I necessarily want the same thing as Disneyland (I like that some things are different), just...Playful Spot is out of place, IMO., and it's there in the glare of the sun. Parents must LOVE that.AwallaceUNC wrote: Pooh's Playful Spot - Yes, I know it just opened, but as it was only meant to be temporary, I would like to see it annexed by Toon Town or closed down so that the 20KL area can start being developed for bigger things.
Aww, I love Jammin' Jungle! I like that it's different; it's not just about showing as many characters as possible. And I love the giant animals; it reminds me of The Lion King Broadway production. But to each his/her own.Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade - Easily Disney's weakest parade, they could produce something more worthy of a crowd's wait.

Oh, I hope there's some truth to this; I would be thrilled. As for the Main Street Cinema, there's word that Disney plans on restoring it to its original form, which I would be very pleased to see.

I thought about this right after my post. I just can't understand the appeal of this ride. Why do people love to sit in traffic and inhale exhaust. It would at least be a tad bit better if they were electric cars (it is a bit more futuristic that way) but I think they should completely remove that ride. I would love if they replaced it with a new 20,000 Leagues--great movie and great ride idea!AwallaceUNC wrote:Tomorrowland Indy Speedway - Sorry, but this is boring and extremely out of date. Thanks for pointing out there is a candy store. Is it premade candy? I think it would be best if they made the candy from scratch inside the shop. Some fresh fruit dipped in chocolate might be nice as well.
I wish they would remove the whole Mickey Toontown Fair. For one thing, I think the buildings look more like WB cartoons than Disney cartoons. Furthermore, Disney World is supposed to be for the whole family but there is nothing for someone to enjoy at Toontown who is older than 10. I just don't think Disney would have wanted Toontown there. He toyed with having a "Mickey Mouse Club Island" at Disneyland and he decided against it. (It evolved into Tom Sawyer Island.) I am sorry, but I was just not impressed by viewing Minnie's wardrobe. I think they should expand Fantasyland instead. I would love to have some new dark rides based on some more recent animation.

While most of you seem to be voting for WDW, my experience - until September - lies with Anaheim only.
I don't want to be a DCA hater, as I actually like the place. Most of the atmosphere is spot-on for this non-Californian. However, I reckon it could do away with most of the stuff on Paradise Pier, and re-theme the area as something a bit less "cut and paste". The Screamin' rollercoaster could remain as a flagship for the area, as it does have the Mickey theme, but the rest of it is decidely un-Disney. Some say this is the case with all of DCA, but I believe that the Pier is the only real area that wants for massive improvement.
As for the Disneyland Park itself, Innoventions is the only thing that I think needs improvement or should be turfed completely. The 'queue' area is very Disney, with the moving walkway, but once you are inside, it resembles a bad science fair cum advertising bazaar. The place seems to existing to promote VMK, and Disney games titles. The ASIMO show is actually quite good, and a memorable highlight of the trip. The place should be structured around ASIMO, rather than the focus being placed on the commercial side of things.

Stitch's Great Escape ...unreal that they took one of the best attractions on property & it sold out to Stitch. Now- dont get me wrong, i heart Stitch as a character- but his attraction is lame...missing that scary alien that used to make me flinch.
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience everytime i go back into that attraction- i remember why its just not on my A-List...so old & kids today haven't seen this movie. that was back in my time when i was a kid in the 80s. it's been a long time- something new please. Maybe a 3D show w/ Figment- just to add more of him- he's so cute. true- his attraction plays w/ the senses- hearing, sight, smell- but maybe they can do a "touch" one if they ever made a 3D show- like Shreks 3d where the seats "ride-along" w/ the coach ride- or even water or bubbles, or like the mice or hornets in HISTA or T2BAB.
Share a Dream Come True Parade The parade has gotten too tame. It doesnt stop anymore like it used to when it first started & some of the floats all did something cool- Snow Queen turns to the snow witch, Aladdin gets lifted up by the genie on his carpet, and Peter Pans carousel in the clouds rises & goes round & round ( & yes i know they dont stop the parade for the xtra magic anymore cuz a performer got run over & died...my sympathies) but I'd rather not pick a seat for this parade anymore.
Journey into Narnia @ Studios.... just a giant plug for the movie-not impressed everyones seen it by now...seeing the winter witch during it is cool- but she can do meet & greets if they really wanted her too...
Backlot Tour the beginning sequence is too long and no more golden girls house- boooo!!!! so over this attraction.
Indy Speedway all that space could so be used for anything else but that. I havent gone on that attraction in well over a year (like 5 visits ago).

I don't remember...I know there's a lot of premade things. I can't say I have been in there for extended amounts of time to shop, so I guess I'll have to do that now.MichaeLeah wrote: Thanks for pointing out there is a candy store. Is it premade candy? I agree that there is too much Hating of the HISTA! It's a great attraction, although ultimately, for Tomorrowland to remain Tomorrowland it needs constant updates. That is the curse of the Land.JiminyCrick91 wrote:What's with all the hatin' for HISTA? I still like it and it may be a tad out of date but like Captain EO is not? Also it has Eric Idle! However, with all due respect Pals - replacing an attraction with an even older attraction is just not on. Not only is it not in the spirit of Tomorrowland, it isn't even in the spirit of Disneyland's 'never being complete'. That's kind of why I'm in two minds about the Finding Nemo Subs: I loved them as a kid, missed them in 2005, but will ride them again in 2008. Yes, it will be a new attraction, but virtually a re-make of the original Subs. To be true to the spirit of Disneyland, they should have made a completely original use of the space.

I like HISTA, too; I don't think it NEEDS to leave, but it's something that I think has had a good run and if they had an idea for something better in that spot, I'd be open to the change. I mentioned it in my post, but it's certainly not as 'pressing' to me as Stitch.JiminyCrick91 wrote:What's with all the hatin' for HISTA? Did Disney make the animation attraction at MGM like the one at DCA? Because I've been to the latter, and thought it kind of lame, except for the part with Mushu.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:~The Tragedy...er...Magic of Disney Animation at Disney-MGM Studios. I liked - not loved - this exact same concept when Disney built it at Animal Kingdom in the dinosaur area of the park. But at least at AK, the state fair rides are a nice break between the "tentpole" rides and attractions. In DCA, it seems as if they made Paradise Pier a tentpole in and of itself, while the big coaster is really the only ride I'd go out of my way to go on. If I want to ride state fair rides, I'll go to - duh - the state fair. I expect something a little different in Dsiney parks.Loomis wrote:I don't want to be a DCA hater, as I actually like the place. You're not missing much. All they do is repeat the same cartoons over and over again: Steamboat Willie, Flowers and Trees, The Band Concert. Sure, it's a great place to relax, but even after an hour, watching those cartoons does get tiresome.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:I've heard that they do that there in Exposition Hall, though I've never actually seen this going on while I've been there. They don't publicize this information very well; maybe there's a schedule and I was there between showings?MichaeLeah wrote:I believe you can still watch vintage cartoons on Main Street if you take an immediate right after passing under the train station. In the back of the photography studio there is a place to sit and watch old shorts. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Sometimes after my shift, I'd lounge in Expo Hall and watch the cartoons ad nauseum.

They did. DCA's is better though, because even if the exhibits are disappointing, that main room is AMAZING.Karushifa wrote: Did Disney make the animation attraction at MGM like the one at DCA? Because I've been to the latter, and thought it kind of lame, except for the part with Mushu.

I have always found the Dumbo Ride, the Astro Orbiter, and the Magic Carpet Ride somewhat bothersome because they are all the same thing. Each of the rides is fine on its own but it is annoying they use the same ride three times with three names.
It seems to me they should keep the Astro Orbiter and the Dumbo ride but maybe they should replace the carpet ride. Maybe they could come up with something better and more exotic.
