BVHE denies crocodile change and still promotes original!
Hi everyone!
As most of you know I called BVHE as I was planning. I got a lady answered and I told her I had a complaint about the Lion King DVD. So she was very nice about it and told me what was wrong......so I tell her about the Original Theatrical not been there in it original state and she interrupts me to say Yes it is! I was like No is not! the animation is changed! so she goes on about how the special edition has the morning report blah blah so i got mad because she's just telling me what the people above her have told her to say cause later in the call she said she never heared or had complains about it! so I go on about where the changed are and how they were not in the 1994 VHS or Laserdisc. Then she goes on about she never hear about it!!!! So I told her that I spent $39.99 on the set to get this fluff and kiddie filled disc that is not worth it but I will keep because I collect disney movies and do so need this movie to complete it. I also told her that Disney didn't even think about collector's where's the theatrical trailer or tv spots? where's the collector stuff? then she asked me what came in the set and where i purchased it, then ask for my name, phone and mailing address. she said she was going to send it to the marketting dept. and i told her to add something else to it! I said you guys prob won't do nothing about this but i felt to voice my complain cause this is a very dissapointing disc and not worth me buying it since i'm a faithful disney collector I buy everything DVD released buy you guys newer or older tittles. B&B was dissapointing but at least it had some collector material in the disc with this release there's nothing. I hope you guys think well about releasing the original Aladdin cause if you guys don't I wont be buying it from you I will have to buy a bootleg just to ge the original since there's no point in me buying it from you guys! the lady was kinda shocked or something cause there was this silence and she was like ok, Thanks Bye! and i was like bye!
So guys we need to call and let me known that this dissapointing maybe we wont get the original or maybe we will if each one of us complains but once thing is for sure that if you guys call future tittle of this "platinum edition" will be saved from this shameful tactic and we will be saving classic like aladdin and little mermaid from getting this treatment! we havent waiting all this time just to get fluff? so please guys do it for yourselves! here's the number: 1-800-723-4763. Thanks!

Well, thanks for calling, MMB. I don't think that the operators really know about the original/IMAX version thing.
Anyways, if everyone has a genuine complaint about this release as MMB has, you need to call and express it to them. When you do, please be polite and understanding, as the person you will be speaking with is probably a low paid employee who has no idea about this fluff extra/original version of movie thing. Call 1-800-723-4763 and make your voice heard.

well chernabog do you think is right on their part to scam us making us think that something is there and is actually not? the extra material is nothing but trash! but if you like it then don't call but I can't see aladdin or the little mermaid having new musical sequences and fluff material!
and yes i'm in war with BVHE! This shouldnt be taken lightly we took it lightly with B&B and see what it caused? this horrid and trashy DVD!

MMB - I agree with you! I will not buy this DVD at all as I have stated before on many places on this forum! I´m so disappointed that Disney can do such a thing with their own features.
I stick with my old video version instead.
And I´m in Sweden so I can´t call for this matter to the US Buena Vista - I´m not supposed to buy this DVD from US when we will have our own Region 2 DVD out next week (according how they think all collector handle this!). They should not listen to me, I´m sure!
But maybe I call to some office here in Europe instead!
I doubt Europe has any say in what is included in the DVDs - especially the BIG simultanious (give or take a week or two) worldwide releases.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Of course I understand that nothing will happen to the DVD relase here in Europe next week, if someone should complain to them.
I was referring to other future releases of Disney features.
What I mean is I doubt Disney US (who compile the supplements) even bother to consult with European Disney branches when they start the process. I'd be surprised if Disney Europe had any say in Aladdin's contents for example.

it does make a difference like i said if you complain aladdin and the little mermaid will not have this fate do you want aladdin and little mermaid with all new music sequences and fluff of bonus materials? how about a Rescuers Special Edition an all new music sequence and fluff of material to just promote the sequel or something else.Tangela wrote:I bought the DVD already... Anyway, I think it is silly to make such a big deal about this, i mean what difference does it make...

Well, I meant the color changes and drawing editings. Of course I don't want any modern songs in The Rescuers - Special Edition. Just to let you know, I hated it when they added the new song to BatB and TLK, it is not original...MickeyMouseboy wrote:it does make a difference like i said if you complain aladdin and the little mermaid will not have this fate do you want aladdin and little mermaid with all new music sequences and fluff of bonus materials? how about a Rescuers Special Edition an all new music sequence and fluff of material to just promote the sequel or something else.Tangela wrote:I bought the DVD already... I only meant The crocodiles thing, it isn't such a big deal, besides, you can watch the original theatrical realease which does not include the songs, but they still did a lot of unnecessary editings...

yes they made edits and they marketed as having the original version untouched and unedited and we you get it is all messed up. all you have to do is call and tell them im dissatisfied cause the original version is not there that's all at least they know we've noticed and we're not stupid. cause unless we complain we will see the same thing happen to other classics unless you own the VHS or laserdisc you wont be able to see the original verisons!Tangela wrote:Well, I meant the color changes and drawing editings. What difference does it make? Well, we have an entire thread on that very matter.
But the gist of it, in my opinion, is 1) it's wrong to screw around with the theatrical cut, if you're not going to provide the original theatrical cut, 2) it's wrong to advertise something as containing an original theatrical cut, when it plainly does not...and 3) like MMB said, it just sets a terrible precedent. If arguably their most popular film isn't available in its original form, maybe ever again...who's to say that it won't happen for The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, or dare I say, The Rescuers. They can improve the dinosaur sequences in Fantasia with animation like "Dinosaur" - but what's the point?
Which brings me to my other point...What's the point of tinkering with animation for the DVD? I can (sort of) understand trying to make it look better for IMAX...although it still seems to me that they shouldn't have touched the animation of the film, but rather tried technologies that could blow it up...or just opt for the standard theatrical re-release. The Lion King played in 70 MM on the big big screens in Manhattan when it was released, and it was a great experience from what I've heard.
Then there's the whole "it doesn't make a difference, it's just little thing"...well by that argument, if it doesn't make a difference, why do it? While Disney may have box office money to blow now, this was done last year...shouldn't they be putting time, effort, and money to better uses...like making a half-way decent documentary on their biggest animated film ever?

I will e-mail Buena Vista USA and complain, and I will incourage my friends to do so. I will try to hide that I'm not American, but they will hear me, yes they will... Once I asked them about the "Sleeping Beauty" DVD coming out in the future, and they answered me when the DVD was about to be announced. I think it's worth a trying... Come on, people, there must be someone up there who will listen to us!!

What are going to do? It seems like BVHE only sells products for kids & families. How about WE: animation anateurs, fans, collectors or whatever?? There is enough bonus material for all audiences, but they simply don't want to include it because they prefer focus on children. Sad but true, Disney merchandising is just for kids.
