Gargoyles Season Two Volume Two may not see daylight!!!!!

Post by MickeyMousePal »

Tough Love
I've been informed that the Season Two Volume One Gargoyles DVD has not sold as many units as the Season One Gargoyles DVD did. That's not particularly surprising, since it has a higher price point. But let's be honest, the lower sales are putting the release of Season Two Volume Two at risk.

To be clear, I'm not asking anyone to spend money they don't have and/or need for things like food, shelter, education, etc. But if you've just been lazy and have been putting off buying the darn thing... well, pal, help us all out by ponying up sooner than later.

And ALL OF YOU -- PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO SPREAD THE WORD!!!!

It is NOT a given that Season Two Volume Two will come out!
Come on Gargoyles fan go get Season Two Volume one, please I really want Gargoyles to complete it's season run on DVD!!!
Support this site too.
Thanks

Aww, man!! This makes me feel guilty about my free copy now! :( I was so sure of Gargoyles' future DVD releases, too! Well, at least the second season - which is the last good one. ;) I mean really - who releases the first part/volume of a season on DVD, but not the second part?! >_<

Well, this is Disney we're talking about after all. :P

It's quite unfortunate that many people who bought Season 1 seem reluctant to get Season 2 vol. 1. The higher price point is hardly a reason given S2v1 has double the episodes and is only a bit more expensive (here it's about $13 more) than S1's 29.95 CDN. What do they expect? A lower price? The debut season of a TV show is nearly always cheaper than subsequent ones.

I'm planning on getting both Season 1 and Season 2 Vol. 1 this year.

I was planning on getting Season 1 when I went to WDW last summer but everywhere was out of stock, and since I've got back I've been saving rather than spending as WDW wiped out my savings.... worth it though :D

This is horrible news. I love Gargoyles, and I was so excited about it's debut on DVD. I can't beleive that they may stop the collection. Disney did NO advertising for these DVD's that's a mayjor reason for the decline in purshaces.

I think Disney Villian nailed it. There was NO promotion for either of these releases. Only the hardcore fans with internet access even knew they were released. Also Buena Vista did not notify several stores that is was being released. Many didn't not know they were recieving them until arrival and therefore did not feature them on upcoming release list or even in new release sections. Tower Records and Virgin Megastore are among these. Also several known Dvd Sellers like Borders and Wal mart never even got them in stock. Wal Mart had no listing of them in either there in store catelog or online. There was something really weird about this one. I'm surprised not more people noticed.

I for one would be extremely irritated if the rest of Season Two Volume Two isn't produced.

If other Walmarts are anything like my local Walmart, I can see why sales are slow. Today, I noticed they finally decided to sell the first season. I saw it in the new release case near the Golden Girls: Complete 4th Season. Hopefully they will get Season Two Volume One in stock before next year.

It's not like this is new news, why do you think Season 2, Volume 1 took so long to come out? Bad sales... :(

It's too bad to see this possibly happen. This news might hurt sales even more. People aren't going to go out and get this volume unless they're sure the 2nd half will eventually be released.

Plus, it is NOT like they need to release more that many more.

Besides there are TONS of TV series on DVD, not all of them sell that well (or at all) and that doesn't stop their distributors to complete them.

I'm not a fan of the show, but i'm not so blind as to not notice that this could happen to any series.

This is another example of the catch-22 I feel with tv shows on dvd. The market got flooded in 2004 and 2005 and there's only so much money to go around. So just like the single disc releases, they try and get you by the peanuts again by threatening not to release later seasons if they earlier seasons dont sell.

Meanwhile they know perfectly well people are afraid to buy knowing that they might get left in the cold with later seasons.

Sometimes Disney almost seems to want things to fail between certain advertising approaches, etc.

If I didn't check here and TVshowsondvd.com regularly I'd never have know they titles were ever released. Moreso with Ducktales and Chip N' Dale.

Ever since Transformers, I'm paranoid that something will go out of print before i can get it.

This is supposed to be a fun hobby, but tv shows on dvd are just becoming too stressful.

Actually, you posted this thread after I had posted it on the front page and attributed it to the source I linked to. Why isn't my name in your post? :?

No, Luke I got the source from animated-news that morning and I remember when I post this topic that you didn't have it in your main news.

Then you attributed the wrong source. Trust me, I had it posted to the front page before you started this thread, man, whether or not you noticed it.

Post by starlioness »

from TOONZONE http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=11250

at the moment, first season and season 2 vol 1 are avaiable now!, also along with the newly released comic written by Greg Weisman, creator of Gargoyles continuing from the end of the 2nd season..

Please spread the word about the DVD's and comic and write polite letters to the Disney company requesting S2 Vol2.. Gargs needs your support!

has addresses for Disney company etc..

Slave labor Comic retailers (also may be at local comic shops)
