"Bambi Meets Godzilla"

Post by musicradio77 »

I know you Disney freaks would enjoyed the movie "Bambi" and the new movie "Bambi 2" which is coming out on DVD a week from Tuesday. I found this rare film from Guba.com. It was called "Bambi Meets Godzilla". The film was 2 minutes long, and it was very short. A classic. I love the scene at the end where Bambi was crushed by Godzilla's foot using the last note in the Beatles "A Day In The Life" from the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". :o Here is the film.

I edit this clip from Yousendit and it will expire in 7 days. The clip from YouTube is too blurry.

You know, I can't even see the picture of that clip because of the blurriness and pixelated quality. I don't know if its just me, but did you watched the clip and find it blurry and pixelated in that site?

I changed the link on my first post and then I put it as a yousendit file to watch a better quality version. The version was taken from the YouTube site was too pixelated. So I use a better quality version of this clip.

Thank you, musicradio77! The picture quality is so much better now. :)

Although, there is something missing in that clip. Marv Newland, the creator of that clip, didn't add blood when Godzilla stomp on Bambi. I know it sounds too gory-ish, but just a little blood and the effect will make the clip more scarier and funny. Perhaps, it was somewhat intentional that Marv didn't add blood on purpose but without it, it would've been funnier rather than scary.

Anyways, this is a hilarious clip coming from a parody version of Monty Python's huge foot and Bambi. And I'm enjoy laughing it for five minutes.

I knew this movie existed but I've yet to see it...

Well there you have it a poorly animated movie under 2 minutes. To me it wasn't that amusing, I was hoping to see some blood.

There is a DVD already out there from Something Weird Video that has "Bambi Meets Godzilla" on it. There is also a "Bambi Meets Godzilla 2". There is a whole bunch of weird cartoons on this collection, and it also includes two Betty Boop cartoons that they deemed 'weird'.

Well gee - now that we know the entire content of the short, why bother watching?

I first saw this as an experimental "Weird Cartoons" VHS rental from Blockbuster when I was still fairly young. I'd never heard of it before, and so I had no idea what to expect. And yes... it actually did scare me! I was maybe expecting something more literal... like an actual fight? And I hadn't really grasped the concept of ironic humor at the time, so it took me off-guard. I didn't need any goriness to scare me, but hey - maybe I'm just a wuss. :P

"Bambi Meets Godzilla" was a weird cartoon and it was made back in 1969. It was produced, written, directed by Marv Newland. The film lasted about 2 minutes. The music was made between the "William Tell Overture" and the last note on "A Day In The Life". Question, is that film still in the public domain?

I have it in my VHS copy of the 1984 verison of Godzilla. Known as Godzilla 1985 in America with Raymond Burr.
