It will only get worse from here. I fully expect to see the first Time-Life commercial for their Holiday music collection within the next two weeks. Fasten your seat belts -- It's gonna be a bumpy ride until January

It Has Started - Or, Let the Holiday Madness Begin
Browsing through the Sunday coupons this morning I see not one, not two, but THREE ads for Hoilday ornaments or figurines. It's September 29th and I'm seeing the first hints of the crazyness that surrounds the Holiday season.

Costco has been gradually putting out Christmas stuff since we were there and got Lizzie McGuire Movie-that was AUGUST 12!!!!! I love it!!!!! When my parents take my sister out for Hallowe'en, I stay home and watch Christmas movies! This year, it's the Santa Clause!Leonia wrote:What happened to the days when the stores used to sell the holiday decorations in the month the holiday took place?
Just last month I saw the Christmas light displays near the Halloween costumes at Costco's...

Yeah, the commercialization and the earliness of the commercialization can have me rolling my eyes, but I just don't get caught up in it much. I think November 1 is a fine time to start playing Christmas songs and decorate the stores and all that. Before that, it's early. I personally don't really do any decorating or get in the spirit until the day after Thanksgiving. But then it's full force ahead...my Muppets and Peanuts Christmas CDs, etc., etc.

Funny you should mention that.Luke wrote:I think November 1 is a fine time to start playing Christmas songs ...
I love Christmas music...I mean I LOVE it. It's one of my favorite parts of all the Holiday Hub-bub. When I was in college I instituted my own Christmas music policy: Oct 1st through January 31st. That way I could at least get 1/3rd of a year's worth of the stuff.
Very extreme, I know. It annoyed the hell out of many a friend, college roommate and/or collegiate hottie. I finally came to my senses a year after graduation and scaled back to November 1st thru the end of the year.

Well, it's official-I just saw the first Christmas commercial! Well, technically, it was only the Michelen Tire Co's "We're your guardian angel this winter" commerical, but it has the Christmassy feel...
Anyway, like I said, when my parents take my sister out for trick-or-treating this Hallowe'en, my line-up consists of:
1. The Santa Clause (soo funny.....)
2. Charlie Brown Christmas (how couldn't I?)
3. Garfield Christmas (love that cat...)
4. Jiminy Cricket's Christmas (really like it, and haven't watched it in a few months, so i'll give it a turn)
Now keep in mind that I've been watching these since March (I take a four month break after December), but Oct 31 is the last day that I watch them "illegally"!

So it's not just the Hong Kong stations on my cable...Prince Adam wrote:Well, it's official-I just saw the first Christmas commercial! Well, technically, it was only the Michelen Tire Co's "We're your guardian angel this winter" commerical, but it has the Christmassy feel...![]()
In case you didn't get that--I have Time Warner Cable so my folks can watch the Asian/International channels. And there's this commercial that plays the Nutcracker's "Waltz of the Flowers" that's been running since around April till now.
