Tarzan may be a 2-disc afterall...?
There's so many differing evidence that it's hard to know, but I got the Disney Video e-mail today, and went to the Cinderella page. There, there is an advertisment saying "Tarzan Special Edition on 2-Disc DVD October 18." Sooo, despite the lack of many bonus features, maybe it will include a second disc afterall.

That's where you can order it direct from the site. It doesn't look like a 2 disc it would normally advertise that it was. Also, the price is $19.99 (not advertising special sale, so prob msrp). I think most of the two discs msrp at $29.99. When looking at sites like Amazon.com and the like for pre-ordering, it looks like they have msrp at $29.99 and sales at $20.99 or so. So maybe they've still got the info that it's a 2 disc.
I think we just have to wait until the 18th, but honestly I'm not holding my breath for a 2 disc. I believe Luke's press release on this one.

If you're buying directly from Disney, I know that in the parks, their MSRP of most DVDs, 1 disc or 2, is $29.99; they sell new titles for $19.99 for a few weeks...maybe the first month or so. I don't remember if DisneyDirect has the same price jump after a title's been out for a while or not.MinnieMe wrote:Also, the price is $19.99 (not advertising special sale, so prob msrp). This is why I've bought surprisingly few Disney DVDs since I came down here...I picked up Stitch Has a Glitch (normally don't buy sequels, but the preview for this one had made me cry, and not in a 'what have they done?!' sort of way), and I purchased Cinderella on Amazon, because I wanted the box set. I think this month, I'll HAVE to pick up Nightmare Before Christmas (I need to upgrade that movie; it's become a tradition to watch it every year when the first "ew, the gross commercialisation of Christmas is starting ALREADY?! It's not even Halloween yet!" thought of the year crosses my mind, AND for some reason, this one is still just $19.99 here!), and there was a day I was in a store that had Emperor's New Groove Ulltimate Groove, which I should see if they still have before the new version comes out and buy that if this is the case. Otherwise...I just can't justify paying so much for many of the titles that I don't already own. I have almost all of my favourites already, and I have to keep on a decent budget while on College Program...there's no title that I can say "Oh, yes, I'll drop $30 bucks for you and not feel like I'd rather have put that money towards a few Disney soundtracks instead!" I REALLY want to acquire "Mickey, Donald, and Goofy: The Three Musketeers," and I dream of owning all of the animated classics, but not at $30 a pop.

College Program CM's have only a 10% discount on DVDs, but if you take a DVD to someone who doesn't know that it's 10%, they may give you your standard 20%.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:This is why I've bought surprisingly few Disney DVDs since I came down here...
At WoD, last time I checked, the DVDs that SRP for $29.99 are $24.99, but SRP $19.99 remains $19.99. I actually was impatient and didn't want anything used, so I forked over $22.50 for Robin Hood.
Also, during the holiday season, ALL castmembers have a 40% discount! Since I got there January 24, the discount ended on the 31st, so I bought a lot my first week there, lol. So anything SRP $29.99 will only cost you $18. Take advantage of this when the $32.99 treasures come out, you'll be able to get them for about $20 each.

They've gone to a blanket 10% discount on all DVDs for all cast members...even Al Weiss could only get a 10% DVD discount.Escapay wrote: College Program CM's have only a 10% discount on DVDs, but if you take a DVD to someone who doesn't know that it's 10%, they may give you your standard 20%.
I have heard wonderful things about the 40% holiday season discount...I will be buying a TON of music then.

Oh wow...I always thought it was just CP's, because we abused our fastpass privilege too. Up until 2004 (when my sister Jane did the program), ANY CP and their party could just go to the Fastpass line, flash their ID, and get in line. They don't do it anymore because CP's abused it, but there are...ahem...under the table...passing of fastpasses.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:They've gone to a blanket 10% discount on all DVDs for all cast members...even Al Weiss could only get a 10% DVD discount.Escapay wrote: College Program CM's have only a 10% discount on DVDs, but if you take a DVD to someone who doesn't know that it's 10%, they may give you your standard 20%.Problems with discount abuse.
Ask around from other CP's for fastpasses. They're hoarded like you wouldn't believe! My roommate worked Tomorrowland Attractions, the Buzz Complex (every ride in TL except Speedway and Space Mountain), and he had a sh!tload of fastpasses for every ride.

While I do think a lawsuit is quite harsh, I think a boycott against both this and The Emperor's New Groove: Ungroovy Edition should be made.castleinthesky wrote:I think someone here should file a lawsuit!!DisneyFan 2000 wrote:Disney should be ashamed. They even mentioned this as a 2-Disc set in their newest release, Cinderella! Talk about misguiding consumers!

Never did I imply he was lieing. For one I did not know it was Luke who said that (Just read the text) so I thought it was just some n00b who wanted to feel important. Anyway, maybe that is just the DVD sent out to reviewers? I can't understand why Disney would switch the DVD to a one disk. I will certainly sue (If I wasn't a kid. lol)

The sad thing (or "a" sad thing, since there are many sad things surrounding this situation) is that the 2-disc Tarzan set is touted as being "Available Now" on a promo on The Emperor's New Groove: "New" Groove Edition. Also sad....unless I'm somehow missing it, the Kronk's New Groove sneak peek is just the 30-second trailer that has been making the rounds since May. Certainly not something worth mentioning in the press release or something to necessitate a repackaging rather than a price drop or repromotion.

There is really no reason to be. It was announced as a two-disc set, widely previewed as a 2-disc set, but turned out to be a single-disc release somewhere along the line for some reason. It's silly enough, but at this point, it is perfectly clear that Disney screwed up and that it is merely a one-disc release. Got it?jamminjake245 wrote:I am just so confused..
