Disney needs to release SHIPWRECKED in R1

Post by Gizmo Duck »

Disney really needs to release SHIPWRECKED (1991) in Region 1. It was released in Region 2 last year. I use to rent this movie all the time, and I'm pretty sure I saw it in the theaters back in '91!

 Please DISNEY!!!!

OMG  I loved this movie when I was little. Yeah I want it on DVD too. I am sure I have it on an old tape somewhere at home.

Howdy!

I'm with y'all as well, not on that movie, but Disney ALWAYS puts out the good stuff on DVD in Europe or Australia before us!!!!! Doesn't Disney know that many movies start right here in Region 1?

Yes, I do have an interest in moving to England, but not right away!

Also, I did like that Meet the Deedles movie; that was fun and funny! It, however, is also a victim of this as this movie is already on DVD in the UK.

And, I think Disney in America is most likely saving DuckTales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp for after they release the whole DT series on DVD.

I just got my Disney Movie Club mailer for this month, and Shipwrecked is in it.
It's a new DMC exclusive along with Rocketman, and A Knight in Camelot.

All presented in fullscreen? That'd be a dang shame for Shipwrecked (which is 2.35:1).

No mention of fullscreen or widescreen, but they will probably be fullscreen. They are pictured on a flyer with the other DMC exclusives on the front. On the back, it has a small movie summary of all 8 DMC exclusives with no mention of aspect ratio.

I just checked the DMC website and Shipwrecked is not under the "Club Exclusives" but it IS under the regular movie listings (although there is no image available for what the cover looks like). Does this mean it isn't an exclusive so it will be released in stores as well? Maybe they'll move it to exclusives... weird!

Good find. The Disney DVD site has Rocketman and Shipwrecked as DMC exclusives and both are listed as 1.33:1. Ironically, the made-for-TV Knight in Camelot has both 1.33:1 and 1.85:1 listed. How utterly lame and not likely correct.

:o What the frig?

Anyone have a web site link for me?

EDIT:

Although I want to have this movie on DVD, I'm not going to sign up for a Disney movie club just to get a bare bones, FOOL-screen copy of the movie.

I can wait for something better. Thanks to those who found this though...

Basically, any lesser-known Disney movie listed on that flyer is on DVD in stores in Europe!

I also liked Rocketman, which is currently on DVD in the UK and Germany. BTW I think that DVD (non-club version) might be edited for the UK, because there's a kid riding the tumble dryer at the beginning (he was pretending to be in a rocket), and like the UK version of Lilo and Stitch, that part is gone. I can also tell because the BBFC listed this as being cut. I also remember noticing this cut on Disney Channel USA in late 1998 or so.

Anyways, I hope these DVDs make it here in the best quality possible (come on, WS!)!
