Fantasia DVD
Since I haven't seen alot of Disney movies, I decided to make myself a true Disney fan by watching all the animated flims in order(I'll watch the live-action ones later.) So far so good until I got to Fantasia. The problem is that I don't own Fantaisia. I know the video is out of print so I tried to order the DVD on Netflex but they don't have it. I'm pretty sure Fantaisia has a DVD but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Take a look at your local video store, they probably have it.

Tashie - if you can only find the VHS copy you are missing out on something. Fantasia really is spectacular on the DVD, it probabaly benefitied more than any classic from going to DVD/Home Theatre.
I thought the Fantasia Anthology was the best DVD treatment of any animated movie including the platinums.

If I could make that decision, I guess I would have preferred Fantasia as close to original as possible. But the few seconds that have been panned differently (which is somewhat less bad than cut) hardly makes it a "bad treatment". The decision even appears to have been made under Walt and not in recent years by that strongly disliked Mr Eisner. Admittedly, there is quite a long way from "hardly bad" to "best". But this rather minor point doesn't make the rest of the "treatment" bad.Little Red Henski wrote:You really consider that censored DVD the best treatment for an animated movie?
I also think it counts that Fantasia hasn't really been seen in its original version since 1940. Basically, later versions through the years have been "mangled" one way or the other, so I very much appreciate the effort that was made with this DVD.

What was censored out of Steamboat Willy?Little Red Henski wrote:Oh' please the censorship was done after Walt's death like it really matters anyway. Steamboat Willy was censored by Walt yet we goy that cartoon uncut on a Disney Treasure. The Fantasia DVD also says uncut on the cover.

Hi
Yes,
If you can't find Fantasia on dvd, most libraries still have the disney animated classics on vhs.

I hate that they did this on the dvd. This falls into my signature...right up there with taking the cigars away from the three caballeros.

When was the last time this scene was in Fantasia? I just watched my Fantasia video again this past weekend, didn't see the above scene. Can't wait until they release Fantasia again on DVD!!Cameron wrote:there were shots zoomed in when (Sunflower) the black centaur's were shown toiling for White centaur's.goofystitch wrote:I think I missed something. Thanks Cameron. I was just expecting a description. You are amazing for actually being able to show me the scene. That was really neat to see. Disney should hide this on the next DVD as an easter egg if they don't wanna put it back into the film. I understand that it is offensive and it's not that big of a deal, but it would still be cool to have.
