Moratorium Titles Re-Release Dates
Does anyone have any idea of when the titles in moron-torium are going to come back out ? Specifcally Snow White, but I'd love to find a list of just when they'll come back.
No one really knows. For the Platinums, the moratorium gap used to be seven years, but now it's five. I don't think that will apply, though, with the Platinums that came before Aladdin. Why? Because that would mean Snow White would be re-released next year, which is highly improbable, the same goes with Beauty and the Beast being re-released in 2007. I think (note, this is only my prediction) that Snow White will be re-released in 2008, with the other Platinums following it, maybe in the same order as they currently are, and maybe not. As for the non-Platinums, Disney's been very erratic about that. The Tarzan: SE is being re-released just three years after the old Collector's Edition went out of print, and The Emperor's New Groove: SE is being released while the CE is still in print! So Disney's too unpredictable when it comes to the non-Platinums, but it's a bit easier to guess for their Platinum line. Someone on this board posted a schedule of international Disney titles being released all the way until 2009. Hopefully someone will dig that up and post it here since I don't remember the thread it was in.

Ah, thanks, Joe.
The list mostly makes sense, but I suspect it was created before Disney changed things around and created the new moratorium rule. Disney has allowed the Platinums to be on the market for 15 months. With that in mind (along with the five year moratorium), that means Aladdin should be re-released in 2010, Bambi and Cinderella in 2011, etc, none of which are on the list.

It's a little weird the list. I've been collecting all the platinum releases since Snow White and now they're basically going to release a new one and re-issue an old one every year starting in 2008. Seems weird. I would rather have all new ones released and then start re-issuing them. And if you keep following the list that means:
Oct. 2011 should be Aladdin, Oct. 2013 should be Bambi & Oct. 2012 will be Cinderella with the March dates left open for new platinum titles.

I read about a Dumbo 2-disc edition here or somewhere (or maybe I just dreamed about it). When is that supposed to happen? I thought Fall 2005, but that could have been part of the dream, too.
Buffy: We have a marching jazz band?
Oz: Yeah, but, you know, since the best jazz is improvisational, we'd be going off in all directions, banging into floats... scary.

Dumbo deserves 2-Disc. I've been holding off buying the 60th anniversary edition. Plus, after reading the review...I found the patience to wait for a possible 2-Disc release!eap_44 wrote:will there be a Dumbo 2-disc coming up soon? i don't have this dvd yet and i'm holding off buying this dvd.

I have feeling that DISNEY will release all these "vault" movies within the next 3 years!!! I think this because I think they will release them on DVD have the DISNEY animi out. Then work on the new blue-rayDVD, and have the "vault" on blue rays!!!

will snow white and followong be all platinum editions AGAIN!?! if not then i have reason to believe that they'd release them more on the lines of having films like Pinnochio and Peter Pan be platinum in 2008 and then start another line in 2008 begining with Snow White. then they could start blue ray with snow white and finish off the platinums in our regular DVD format. and they'd also get more relased a lot faster!
Perhaps they don't want to release them faster? As for Blu Ray, it will be a niche product for years after it's launch. Don't expect Blu Ray to be driving sales for a while.singerguy04 wrote:will snow white and followong be all platinum editions AGAIN!?! if not then i have reason to believe that they'd release them more on the lines of having films like Pinnochio and Peter Pan be platinum in 2008 and then start another line in 2008 begining with Snow White. then they could start blue ray with snow white and finish off the platinums in our regular DVD format. and they'd also get more relased a lot faster!
Nobody knows, but given their history of past Disney re-releases I doubt it. (But I wouldn't expect a lot of new material to be added either - Tarzan, Emperor's New Groove and Toy Story, I'm looking at you!).rb_canadian181 wrote:So if they release a title like BATB or Snow White, will it be identical to the original release???
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
My thoughs on the Moratorium
Ever heard the term "Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should"? I think this term applies very well to the Platinum releases. When Disney changed the moratorium dates, they did it for two reasons. 1) Give themselves flexibility. 2) To release all the titles on DVD before HDDVD comes out. But just because Disney can rerelease titles who have come out of moratorium, it doesn't mean that they will. Just look at the countless Disney Classics that are not on moratorium and Disney is not releasing. What I'm trying to say is, don't be too surprised if you don't see Snow White until 2015. Most likely Disney will release it earlier, but being out of moratorium doesn't mean that they will release it.
Hello Everyone!
Long time reader first time poster here.
I just read when these movies will be re-released and I got so upset, about 6 months ago we seen a Snow White (2 disc) in a Suncoast video store. I begged my boyfriend to buy it, and he said it was probally coming out soon. So i asked the guy at the counter, he had no clue. I called a few days after finding it came out years earlier, and they were gone!
So i don't know if it was just a fluke of the store, miscommunication or whatnot. But i can't believe it. So i am patiently waiting until 2008 now for my copy of Snow White, we have all the movies after Snow White (the ones that were released of course) but i would love to have that one. So we will sit here patiently waiting now...But i tell ya, i will never listen to him again, i will just BUY it!

Was anyone else REALLY hoping that if Michael Eisner got the boot, that would mean the Moratorium rule would kind of be annexed? I realize other people had to agree for the rule to be put in effect, in the first place. But it would seriously increase customer faith in Disney if they were more consumer-friendly.
