CGI sequels to the Disney classics is not that bad.
Come on you guys. I like CGI sequels. I'll bet they can make 3D sequels to Disney classics like The Great Mouse Detective 3D sequel and The Black Cauldron 3D sequel and Pinnochio 3D sequel and the rest. Besides, I love 2D and 3D movies. Am I right?

The Great Mouse Detective sequel is in CGI now? Man, we're getting a lot of news this week.
I think you're missing the point of everyone's complaining, Teede.
I don't mind CGI sequels at all. It's just that making CGI sequels to movies that were traditionally hand-drawn seems stupid to me. To me, it takes the entire feel of the original movie out.
You may like whatever pre/mid/sequel that comes out, Teede, but I and many others thinks that it's just too big of a stretch to take a 2-D movie and make a 3-D sequel, or vise versa.

NO!!! NO!!! I'm having difficulty responding... Mayday!!! Mayday!!!. I'm just kidd'n. I love your threads Teede they're soo fun.
Now I'm gonna respond before this thread get locked or what not. I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with CGI, the only thing I find wrong with these new sequels is that the story... sucks. I have yet to see a "good" Disney animation sequel since "The Rescures: Down Under." However, I'm very curious to see how "Bambi: And the Great Prince of the Forest" turns out. And that's enough to make me wanna watch it even though I feel like I'm going to be greatly disappointed.
Bottom Line: They should keep away from classics!!! Just, don't touch them or mess with them. They're the sequels going wrong so far in my oppinion.
Your speculating... See the other thread.
In the great words of Edna Mode: "No CGI. Outsource to Asia!"
You've got all wrong drnilescrane. I think Jim Hill is just making that up. They're just going to make CGI sequels to the Disney classics and I'll bet those Asians will learn how to speak English by making sequels in English.

orestes.
Blech, horrible. I wouldn't want to see CGI sequels to traditional animated films unless they were made to look like they were 2D.
I don't want to see a 3D sequel.
Actually I wish they would just get rid of making sequels to classics and only make sequels to movies that warrant them.
I'll stop now before I keep repeating that same old complaining when I get going about this topic.

You're probably right. I'm sure he just made it all up and told the press that because he thought it would be funny.Teede wrote:You've got all wrong drnilescrane. I think Jim Hill is just making that up.
I'm just reposting this because it made me laugh, hard. Teede, sometimes I wonder if you even know what you're saying half the time.Teede wrote:and I'll bet those Asians will learn how to speak English by making sequels in English.
By the way, I found this on the main site and I have a question.
Did he actually say the cheapquels will get even cheaper, because if he did, I'm getting the feeling that Disney knows the cheapquels are a stupid idea and they're just going along with it now.Jim Hill claims that this is not the end of 2-D Disney animation and that the so-called "cheapquels" will get even cheaper as work will be outsourced to Asian animation studios.
Drnilescrane, you're right, we are jumping to conclusions that the sequels wil be in 3D. It just seemed like something they would do.

As much as I like the 2D style, I accept the future of CGI / 3D .. However, I have to agree with the general population, Leave the 2D classics alone with a sequal, unless it's also done in 2D .. Twice upon is a great example. It's ok, it's lacks the magic of Once upon.
And as the story goes.. I too would like to see better story lines.. I'd be more than happy to have only 1 or two releases a year knowing the story would get the attention it deserves. However, I'm not expecting that to happen any time soon.. From a business standpoint, the more product they pump out the better they are doing .. And as they know all to well.. most families will buy it cause the kids want it. The die hard fans, may pick it up to add to the collection, the die hard collectors who wont buy it.. are too small a percentage for Disney not to pump out as many DVD's as possible.

a good example as to why 2D classics should not be made into 3D sequels is the 3D mickey mouse. There's just something wrong with it, he looks different, maybe more streamlined or something, but i hate it! the sames goes for the rest of the characters in Twice upon a christmas. does this bother anyone else or am i the only one?
i think CGI is wonderful, but it should stay away from our classic lovable characters bc i fear that'll it'll make them ugly!

Just to make myself clear....do NOT say something like that in public offline, that's pretty racist. I know not your intention, because I think your a little ignorant when it comes to being politically correct. But to say they'll learn English by making American movies is just ignorant and racist. There are more Asians who know SEVERAL languages in the world, while most Americans know just English.Teede wrote: I'll bet those Asians will learn how to speak English by making sequels in English.
Gee, maybe if I watch more anime I can learn Japanese! I learned how to say "pocket monsters" in Japanese.
Ignorance must truely be bliss
And here we go again...
Well, I think is clear than:
*2D will not be completely forgoten, but will not be used a lot
*No ones wants 3D sequels of 2D classics, but even so, we have things like "Mickey´s twice upon a christmass" and some experimetns of 3D version of 2D characters(like we saw on the 50th aniversary trailer)
*Only Tedee support this...thing, but even so Disney push this 3D new movies
*Pixar is no longer with Disney and the only
*Cheapquemovie made by Disney itself was Dinosaur, which was very crapy
*Cheapquels will be even cheaper...
Is just me or Disney is aheading to a dark age(pretty dark indeed)

Please, that statement was more retarded than it was racist.Siren wrote:Just to make myself clear....do NOT say something like that in public offline, that's pretty racist. Retarded means to "hold back". Was she holding back? I WORKED with retarded children and adults. Using that word as an insult is as bad as using a racist word. People who are mentally handicapped deserve better then having their medical terminology used against others as an insult. The only people who continue to use "retarded" as an insult are those who are ignorant. You certainly are loose with those fingers to insult others. First people are idiots because they don't like black and white movies, now you say Teede is retarded. Is that how you deal with people who disagree with you? You insult them with such vulgarity and immaturity? I expected better on this board. You disgust me.Little Red Henski wrote:Please, that statement was more retarded than it was racist.Siren wrote: Just to make myself clear....do NOT say something like that in public offline, that's pretty racist.
