Studio Ghibli DVDs - Region 1 Covers

Post by nausicaa »

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the recent Studio Ghibli DVDs have some AWFUL covers? And the new ones that they're releasing (Yamadas, Pom Poko, etc) look even worse!

I've been trying hard to track down the original R2 covers for each of the films. They aren't incredibly awesome either, but at least they all match and don't look ridiculous like the Disney covers. If anyone can help me track down some high res Japanese R2 scans, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Thanks! :)

I think Pom Poko & My Neighbor the Yamadas' region 1 covers are way better than the Cat Returns & Porco Rosso region 1 covers from the last wave.

Personally, I think waves two and three have bland covers. I like Disney's approach with wave one (actual cover-specific artwork) FAR more than their new trend (using a production still and adding banners).

I like Pom Poko's and Nausicaa's cover art best of the new releases. But the rest, including Porco are terrible. I personally think that Disney should have covers more like Madman:http://www.madman.com.au/studioghibli/
