I think the cover's excellent. Not only is it consistent with the other five covers, but I think this may well be the best one out of all them (even if they broke the "place the most memorable ship from the film on the bottom right" rule). Did anyone else notice that Anakin's scar is missing on the artwork (unless the pic isn't high-res enough for us to see it)?

As much as I love the coverart for the Star Wars movies, I think one thing could have done better. Imagine the DVD cover with the poster art on it.

For example, Episode 1's:

Those would've been the perfect coverarts in my opinion, but the one they have now comes in a close second.

Well, as for the cover art, I'm knd of glad, yet mad about it. I'm glad Anakin isn't the main character holding a boring blue saber, but I'm also a little mad Palpatine isn't. But I like it, the color scheme is spot on and It's prolly my favorite of the six.

No idea, but I bet if it did have one, it would've passed the $400 million mark.

Bumping because I found out that Wal-Mart will include a BONUS disc called "The Story of Star Wars", which includes something called "R2-D2 & C-3PO's Chronicles of Luke and Anakin Skywalker". Coverart:

My one gripe is that Wal-Mart will probably only package it with the FS DVDs instead of with the WS DVDs.

ETA: Maybe the title of this thread should be changed too since Star Wars III is coming out on the first, not the eighth.

I think they showed these shorts on Fox before they show the Star Wars movies!

It was basically just C3PD and R2D2 telling the whole story of all 6 Star Wars showing clips and what not. There were a couple funny 1-liners from this hilarious duo, there wasn't much that's worth buying.

Unless your the huge die-hard Star Wars fan, you could skip it. Even I'm not sure whether to get this or not, and I love Star Wars.

If you look at the dvd in the package it is Widescreen and they normally do the special with both at Wal-Mart

At my Wal-Mart they always package special disc with Full Screen and they even put out front only Full Screen and they hide all the widescreen in the back behind other DVDs
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

I wouldn't have wanted that as a coverart for the DVD. Its way too busy. Even though all the current star Wars DVD covers are kind of lame, I wouldn't want that as the cover.

I hate when they do that. At mine, they have nothing but Full Screen on the big cardboard displays, and if you want Wide Screen, you have to go to the back where the electronics are, and look for it on the rack.

Yeah, I know, but my Wal-Mart is anal about it, and every time there was a promotional bonus with new releases, it was only with the FS DVDs. That's one reason I didn't buy Crash at Wal-Mart, because only the FS DVDs had the bonus (though now I can't remember what the bonus was, lol).

I really do hope that they realize that Star Wars is a BIG BIG thing that people should only see in Widescreen, and at least give us a choice between Widescreen and Full Screen with the bonus, instead of packaging all the Full Screen DVDs with the bonus DVD while having the Widescreen DVD off to the side somewhere.

I hope the bonus DVD is attached to the Widescreen copies. I've seen less Widescreen at Wal-Mart lately. They seem to only stock about a 1/4th of their supply with the Widescreen version. The new Jaws DVD wasn't even stocked in Widescreen here.

I will probably be there Nov 1st at midnight and get my copy hopefully with the bonus DVD. Its going to be nice to finally sit down and watch all 6 of these movies in a row.

The cover is ok. My main problem with it is Anakin's scar on his eye is missing. I also wished they used a different picture of Palpatine on the cover. I don't know its just a wierd looking shot of Palpatine.

For all of the 'collector's' here, watch out for what Best Buy is going to offer. They also will have an exclusive to Best Buy bonus disc packed in the package as before. Looks like some of us will be double dipping (buying two copies) this DVD.

As far as the Widescreen problem, I haven't noticed what everyone says here in Wichita. When they have the display out in front it is equally distributed with Full Screen and Widescreen. I do agree however that Wal-Mart does lean toward Full Screen quite a bit.

I used to teach a class to Wal-Mart employees about the differences between Full Screen and Widescreen and they actually paid me good money for the three weeks of work that I did for them. But that was two years ago and it looks like it was all for naught.

November 1st is going to be a busy TuesDVDay.
