And I'm sorry about your dad. Hopefully he can find something else he interests him at home or the neighborhood that he can cope? I know a lot of people feel incomplete when they retire (especially if they liked their job), so I'm wishing the best for him and your family.
He's on Teacher Retirement Disability and he is applying for federal social security since He can't work in a teaching position again, as he mentally couldn't handle it. Right now he's having panic attacks like Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, might be worse. He does sometimes work at a camp for children with disabilities which is about 5 miles away, but it's not that often that he does that.
He is seeing a psychologist, of course we all see psychiatrist since I have Apsergers, my fiancee has it, my dad has it, and my mom has it by default through knowledge of it all.
Also on Wednesday I go to talk to my doctor. I am betting he's putting me on insulin.

In the beginning of the month I had a blood test that traced my blood sugars over the past 3 months and had other tests like my Triglycerides and cholesteral
Apparently it's gotten worse as my Triglycerides were 1100 and since April have made a huge cut back on things. Also I've been drinking water like a fiend, except for the past week which I need to drink.
And my blood sugars haven't gotten better either. My doctor said that he thinks I have signs of a Metabolic Syndrome and he said to take insulin which is in this pen thing and no vials are needed. He wants mecall him on Monday and constantly be in contact with him to see about getting my blood sugars down and see if he need to go higher on the insulin. In theory he said that once my sugars are down, my Triglycerides should go down also. He'll do another blood test in a month or so.
It's not bad. Also during this transition I don't drink any sugary drinks. Also since May some things I use to eat started to taste horrible because I could taste the sugar in it and I say it's too sweet. I drink diet soda, milk and water.
Also I've lost 50 pounds since April which is odd. I could be the combo of I went off one of my pills because it can cause weight gain and high blood sugars, I've been more active, and of course I'm diabetic which was hard to type.
Since Wednesday I've had the insulin, my blood sugars are going down. I imagine he might want to go up on the dose.
I'm not as phased about it as I thought I would be. I'm glad this didn't happen during my near death experience of taking me off my colitis pills or duing my herniated disc stuff as I'm scared to thing what my reaction would have been. After surviving that, this is beginning to be pretty easy to deal with, more that I ever thought it would.
