I can't stand the rest of the DCOMs, but Wizards of Waverly Place was actually a decent little flick, so I'm curious to see what they do with this new one. I think if the script and production value is strong enough, maybe a theatrical release?

Frankly, Wizards of Waverly Place is the one good currently running show on Disney Channel, among a festering pile of crap that stinks up the place.

16 Wishes premieres on June 25 at 8/7c. For some reason this movie feels like the old good Disney Channel Original Movies made before 2006.

Here's the music video A Wish Come True Everyday by Debby Ryan.

^ It totally feels like an older DCOM! And I just watched the video about half an hour ago- I like the song. She might not be the best lip-syncher, but I liked the song. Not my favorite song from a DCOM by any means, but it's enjoyable.

I thought I was the only one who feels like an older DCOM and the song is enjoyable too.

Borders® Is Exclusive Retailer for Disney Channel's '16 Wishes'Merchandise
http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest-ID-74595.asp

http://tommy2.net/content/?p=16537
PopStar Magazine has added a ton of brand new short interviews from the 16 Wishes premiere! Here are the individual links.

Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock 2)
Ashley Argota (True Jackson, VP)
Bailee Madison (An Invisible Sign)
Debby Ryan (16 Wishes)
Gregg Sulkin (Wizards Of Waverly Place)
Jean-Luc Bilodeau (16 Wishes)
Nicole Anderson (JONAS L.A.)
Roshon Fegan (Camp Rock 2)
Tiffany Thornton (Sonny With A Chance)

I know that none of us understand why Disney Marketing does what it does, but really- why do they think that this DCOM is so worthy of all of this merchandise and promotion, over other DCOMs? I mean, I'd think that Princess Protection Program would've been more worthy, for lack of a better word, of all the attention...? I mean, if I still got cable, I'd definitely be watching 16 Wishes, but I'm just surprised with all the marketing going on for it.

Well, Borders does sell books, CDs, DVDs, and more!

http://tommy2.net/content/?p=16471
Although it’s been released digitally, the soundtrack for Debby Ryan’s new Disney Channel Original Movie 16 Wishes will be released to retail outlets on August 3rd. (Currently it’s an exclusive at Borders and Walden Books).
The movie isn't even a musical, right? I'm very confused about the marketing of this movie! Did anyone watch it? Was it good?

That may be true, but Borders isn't really where teenage girls shop when they're looking for DCOM stuff, is it? Wouldn't WalMart or a Justice store be a better fit?

^ I guess that's why they wanted to partner with Disney, then, to get more traffic into their stores!

Borders also sells their CDs and DVDs/Blu-rays for a much higher price than most other places.

The premiere of 16 Wishes starring Debby Ryan averaged 5.6 million viewers and surprisingly earned Disney Channel a 1.0 rating for Adults 18-49. Is their demo getting older, or was it family movie night in households across the country?

Gee, if that's true, does that mean they'll start developing less tweeny material, even more stuff not directly targeted towards one demographic? Stuff like "Tru Confessions"? I hope so!

Hopefully this is a sign to Disney Channel to stop making musical movies and to try focusing making movies like their earlier DCOM movies. I think the reason that Disney Channel got a 1.0 rating for Adults 18-49 is because for those old Disney Channel fans who used to watch DCOM from 1997-2007 felt like a real DCOM movie.

Harriet The Spy: Blog Wars starring Wizard Of Waverly Place’s Jennifer Stone will be released on September 28th. What’s interesting about this release is that although it was a Disney Channel Original Movie, it will be released by Vivendi Entertainment instead of Walt Disney Home Entertainment.

Is this kind of like Wish Upon a Star, then, in the sense that it's a Disney Channel PREMIERE Movie, vs. a DCOM?

Yes, Harriet the Spy and 16 Wishes are not DCOM.
They are "Disney Channel World Premiere Movies"

You can check out Anna Margaret’s new music video for "Girl Thing" on YouTube. The song will be featured in the Disney Channel Original Movie Den Brother that airs next Friday.
Uhhh, I haven't heard of this DCOM before...I just read the plot on Wikipedia. Sounds like one of the minor DCOMs from back in the day.
