corpse bride is a brilliant movie. It goes back to the glory days of animation, with trippy sequences and musical numbers. It actually has real laughs in it instead if relying on crude humor and pop culture refrences. A modern classic and the best animated film in years.

I enjoyed it. The songs were decent, the animation was swell, and the story was pretty good, too. I'm not sure if I was entirely happy with the ending, but it was okay, too. I'll buy this when it comes out on dvd.

I was going to use spoilers but I thought that my post didn't reveal anything so...I didn't need to.

I loved the music. I'm buying the soundtrack. It was a bittersweet ending but a good one.

Saw "The Corpse Bride" today. It was awesome! Was it as good as "The Nightmare Before Christmas"? No. But I'm glad to say it gives us a totally original story and alot of fun new characters! The maggat and the dog(Scrapes I think) stole the show!

The music was pretty good. Danny Elfman gives us some catchy new rythmes, but nothing really memorable like the music in NBC! The animation was just amazing to look at, just a s beautiful if not more than NBC. And the actors perfectly match their characters! Johnny Depp was great at his part!

WARNING THIS SECTION HAS SPOILERS:
The only thing I didn't like is that they never really explained some things. Like what happened to Victor's parents? Also it was at times waay too predictable!!! Also the ending was kinda weird that she just turned into butterflies. END OF SPOILER

But overall The Corpse Bride is a fun movie that Tim Burton fans will love from beginning to end! 8/10

I saw the corpse bride last night it was so good I loved it the characters were so colorful and the songs were catchy I did feel bad for emily though

but the movie was great i m going to get this the 2nd it comes out

Great movie! Just got home from it. I share the opinion that it wasn't as good as Nightmare. I think it was mainly the musical numbers. They just weren't as catchy and memorable as What's This? and This is Halloween. Nor were they as forlorn as Jack's Lament. However story and character wise, it was fantastic! As was the animation.

I too felt sorry for Emily. What a sad story she had. Though Victor's sudden admission to marry was a little surprising. Yeah sure, they played the piano together, but I would have liked to see a little more time between them for him to actually stop looking at her like a rotting corpse and actually look at her with some love. Then again, perhaps it wasn't love, but just desperation and giving up on life anyways. Whatever the reasons, it was a good movie.

Anyone notice the plaque on the piano? It said Haussen....an nod to Harry Haussen. Monster's Inc did a similar thing.
Also the scene of the little boy recognizing his grandfather reminded me of the end scene in Hunchback when the girl hugs Quasi.

Saw it today and enjoyed.

It is a good compliment when you can say that you forgot you were watching stop animation and just appreciated it as a movie.

As for comparisons between NBC and this, I don't really think it's fair.

Corpse Bride to me by nature was more mature and aimed at a different audience than nightmare before christmas.

I just don't think you can really compare the two and that's what unfortunatly happening because of the stop animation and tim burton factor.

Personally i enjoyed this a little more if only because it was my type of movie moreso than NBC.

Well NBC had the appeal of Christmas for kids. However, they still play to similar audiences. Those who are weird, quirky, and hate the fact that movies like Hitch make tons of money.

I think the score and songs in Corpse Bride are excellent. Buy yourself the soundtrack, listen to it as much as you've listened to Nightmare, give yourself a few years, and you'll love it just as much. It's hard to compare a movie you've seen one time (Corpse Bride) to something you've probably watched dozens of times over the last ten years (Nightmare Before Christmas). Corpse Bride isn't a classic yet, but give it time. It's great!

For over a year I'd been more excited to see Corpse Bride than anything else... except maybe Revenge of the Sith. It would be a close call for me between those two based on my anticipation for them. I loved it! I'm glad I didn't get the spoilers here before I saw it... I avoid that by going to the first show on opening day.

I have the soundtrack, and it's great. I wish there had been a few more songs... and that the movie had run about twenty more minutes. At least they didn't over-do it... leave the audience wanting more... then don't give it to them. Hooray for original movies and Tim Burton!

Saw Corpse Bride opening day with some friends (completely forgot it was opening--almost forgot it existed! that's time for ya ohoho) and I really liked it. Not as much as The Nightmare Before Christmas (which I adored completely from the get-go as I'm a huge fan of Halloween and Christmas... putting the two together? genius) but I didn't think I would anyway.

The songs were indeed excellent, especially the piano duet played by Emily and Victor (and yes, I did get the soundtrack a mere hour or so after watching the film).

See I saw this as being more for an slightly older audience.

To me CP almost felt like a live action movie that happened to be in stop animation.

Personally i was hoping this more of what haunted mansion would've been. Would've made perfect sense with the bride part of the attraction.

I'd have to disagree, Howl's Moving Castle has been the best animated film since 2002, in which Spirited Away was the previous best.

Just because a movie is overrated, dosn't mean it is bad.

How do you say it is overrated. Ask an average person on a street if they have heard of it. They would say no.
