Hmm... that's rather interesting. I know they were there during the Down to the Sea opening scene (they were shown briefly during the line, "up from the sea") but after that, they're never seen. Perhaps they all got married within the time Melody grew up?

And one more point:

About Marina being Morgana: Ariel speaks about her as if she's never known her, or isn't familiar with her ways- "if Morgana is anything like Ursula, she'll never give up!", the keyword being if.

I hate to say it, but I don't think Marina is at all related to Ursula or Morgana, and the worst part is, we'll probably never see her again.

So after all this chit chat we could say that:

1.-DEFINITELY Ursula is not Marina
2.-Ursula was before than Marina
3.-...so this could let one door open to a "what if" like on Cinderella 3 where we have more of Ursula's past(Like...I don't know...octopus people and meremaids were together then the octopus people tried to reach Triton's power leaded by Ursula and they were expelled of Atlantica and that's the why of all the hatred or something)
4.-Or the 3rd point will be banished as Song of the South was, for a bunch of christians who might thing that an evil female character with a male voice could corrupt their child's mind and soul
5.-in chronological order, the movies would be 3 then 1st and 2nd as last?(WTF?!?!?! Did Disney Co. was on a "George Lucas" mood?!)
6.-The sirens and meremen when Wall·E showed up or they were safely kept...on a tuna can?
7.-why is the rum always gone!?

their family tree makes no sense. Why is Ariel the first connected to Triton/Athena then all of her sisters are branched off of her in no particular order?

Wouldve been nice if that gave us a little bit of information on the family or pictures of Triton or Athenas parents/siblings. And ofcourse they did made it properly with the sisters in order and perhaps dates of birth.

on the theory that Marina is Ursulas and Morgana's mother;

I don't think it's possible because Marina looks rather younger then both of them, and this film takes place not too far from the original, and in the original Ursula appears to be way older then Marina.

Theory that involves Ursula in this movie;
I'm still sticking with the theory that Ursula was banned after Queen Athena dies, and then returns in disguise as Marina. Then escapes the dungeon and transforms back into Ursula.

But really, I don't think the Ursula backstory is at all involved. im hoping to be wrong.

I dunno, we all just have to wait and see right? Exactly 1 month and 7 days from now...we can finally all get our Ariel-holic drug and finally end this Marina/Ursula/not ursula/maybe morgana/perhapsamotherofboth little mermaid mish mosh madness.

I highly doubt the writers or disney thought of making Marina into Ursula or Morgana. They just want to write a movie that will get them some more money.

Those PNG files sorta look like worksheets for kids, and there's really nothing significant in them, other than some new pictures of their family.

Anyway, piecing together what we know now and the original teaser trailer from Cinderella 3...

1) There is some sort of havoc on the ship, while Morgana's eyes flash by. At first we thought it could have been either Morgana or Ursula, but now I'm thinking that they probably only used her eyes because she's skinny, like Marina.

With this said, my guess is that Marina actually causes the ship's explosion.

2) Something falls from the ship after it explodes, and it is revealed to be Melody's locket.

I REALLY wanted the locket and the music box to be the same thing, but now judging by the size of the thing, it looks just a little too big to be the same shell. So that bit represent the shot from the five-minute preview, of the music box sinking down (down, down... and then I climbed out of this big round hole! :P).

3) Ariel, from the final shot of "Part of Your World" is shown, but dubbed over with the audio from Eric and Vanessa's wedding, when her voice is coming back to her.

Part of Your World was about Ariel's want to be "part of that world", and the audio they dubbed the shot over with could represent the return of music and/or singing. Therefore, Ariel wants to be able to sing again (thus, "I Will Sing").

So far, the second and last parts have been proven correct (or at least from all the sources we've been given). All that's left is the last one... I just wonder how they're going to work that out.

Also, I really think we should have heard something about a soundtrack by now. This is my first DTV release here at UD, so I'm not really sure what the standard wait time is, but considering the movie itself will be released in just a little more than a month, I would think we would at least get some kind of warning. Same with TLM2. :(

I dont really think Marina will have anything to do with the ship. I think they will just use the same thing as in the 1st film with a huge storm going on and lighting probably strikes the ship.

I'm not convinced the story of TLM 3 is the same story from 2 years ago when the teaser was released. Back then Disney really seemed determined to actually put this film in the same continuity as the previous two - if I recall correctly, there was supposed to be Melody in the third film and Ariel was supposed to tell her the story of her mother. The locket from the teaser was the same locket Triton gave to Melody in TLM 2, those eyes were Morgana's eyes. I believe that's where the original story of TLM 3 was going: to tell Ursula/Morgana/Ariel's mother backstory. But for some reason, they scrapped that plot and introduced this new one, and I've seen some episodes of TLM series which are more complex than this new plot.

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

Post by Disney Duster »

Actually mooky, I think a lot of that was rumors that Melody would be in it and Ariel would tell her story. To be honest, the trailer actually is very much like the scene where SPOILERS The pirates come and Ariel's mother swims up to get her locket, which had fallen in the water, right underneath the pirate ship END OF SPOILERS. So I think they were thinking of at least some of this plot at that time, but perhaps Morgana or Ursula were really going to be involved.

TLM3 comes to Comic-Con in San Diego too! Now i'm a little confused.... Are they showing the actual movie or is it a pannel? hmmm here's what it says:

11:30-1:00 The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning— The sea holds many deep secrets for young Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, an all new, full-length movie coming exclusively to DVD on August 26. Available for a limited time only, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning takes audiences back to the story’s beginnings with favorite characters from the original film as well as a wonderfully wicked new villainess. Poody: Lucky! :(

Anyway, going on about the teaser trailer's plot vs. the final, wasn't it said to have been tested with audiences, and because of all the positive reviews, taken back in to be worked on some more? Maybe during this additional work, the plot was changed a little?

Speaking of Melody- I would so love to see her animated decently. I mean, she goes off model so many times in TLM2 that she's barely even recognizable sometimes. It'd be great to see her character done some justice, like Prudence in Cinderella 3.

Maybe the movie starts off with Ariel singing the song of the sea with Melody, and then she goes on to explain that the song of the sea was actually Athena's song, and from there sparks TLM3?

However, I really (and I mean really) don't want a flashback film like Tarzan and Jane, Cinderella 2. This is sorta the reason why I've been scared of the original storyboard that was released for the opening scene. Although it follows the original TLM's (and even TLM2's, to an extent) opening quite nicely, it seems to be a flashback film, and like I said, they're just not solid enough for me. :(

One more thing: mooky, I understand what you're saying, but I think the only reason why they used the old clips was because the final footage was not yet prepared, but since they were already releasing a successful princess's sequel, and later the original's special edition, they probably decided to take the risk and use old footage. This way, they would be able to get the trailer in by the deadline, and at the same time, still let the fans know that it's official.
