Lucio Fulci's The Beyond (1981) - again. I think I need someone to explain the attraction of this movie to me. I've seen it at least 5 times now. It's still not very good. But I just keep watching it.

Masters of Horror: Homecoming. A lot of people regard these as feature-films. I go back and forth.

and Child's Play - much better than a lot of "intelligent" people give it credit for.

Watched the 70's made for tv horror flick THe Curse Of The Black Widow a few days ago. Got a dvd-r of it in trade last year. Oooh great thriller. Patty Duke Astin/Tony Franciosca/June Allyson and June Lockhart were all fab in their roles. A must see for the horror fan.

My recently watched movies:

Spiderman 3 - Meh, could've been better but could've been much worse. It had Venom which is always a huge plus but I could've done without Emo Parker.

The Little Mermaid - The magical atmosphere of this movie always reminds me why this is my #1 Disney (and any other) movie. This one really is a trendsetter in terms of formula of a successful movie. The songs, characters, animation all shine in this masterpiece.

Aladdin - Even more funny on repeat viewings. I don't know how many movies out there today can make the same claim.

Hercules - Far from perfect, yes, but it has that cartoonish charm that is severely lacking in recent outings, Disney or otherwise.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - This really is, for me, the equivelant to the 80's Indiana Jones. What worked for people back then in terms of adventure is pushed to the max with comedy, action and some drama sprinkled throughout. You can read more about my opinion in the official discussion thread.

The Lion King - It took some time getting used to, but I've managed to ignore the illplaced comedic moments and have really come to appreciate this movie as a true masterpiece. The Circle of Life after all these years still sends chills down my spine.

Wow that's quite a few for 2 weeks.

My Mom is in this movie for a split second. During the scene where the vehicle is going up an escalator, she's in the Food Fair but since it's going so fast she's just a purple blur

They filmed the scene the day she went to visit my Grandma at the Shoppers Drug Mart (which is at the bottom of the escalator).

I watched parts of a movie that I do not know the title of. It sucked. There was a grandmother, her daughter-in-law, and two young grandchildren. They were all fighting, fell in a lake, nearly drowned, broke their legs, and had to find their was back to suburbia or some place like suburbia. Most of the dialog consisted of, "Oh Grandma! Oh Grandma! What if we die? Oh Grandma! We are going to die, Grandma! Grandma!" and "I'm sorry! It's all my fault that you're going to die!"

I watched Dinosaur and The Incredibles this afternoon... I had nothing else to do so I decided to watch some Disney movies!

I think I might watch Pan's Labyrinth tonight!

Some friends came over who have never seen Hi-Def television before so I took them down to the Home Theater and we watched Disney's Dinosaur in Blu-Ray Hi-Definition and they were knocked out by it. Then we watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, also in Blu-Ray Hi-Definition. I think I have convinced them that they need to look into Hi-Def television and movies, whether they get HD-DVD or Blu-Ray I left that decision to them, but after seeing these two movies in Blu-Ray I think that they will seriously look into Blu-Ray when they go to buy.

Okay. I was ready. I did it.

After more than 14 years I was finally able to watch E.T.-The Extraterrestrial That movie used to scare the crap out of me, and for 14 years I was terrified of this rubber doll.
But today it was on TV and I watched the whole thing!! I actually enjoyed it, and made a big step towards "recovery from my E.T. phobia".
The poor little guy. But still, Steven Spielberg created a very intense, and at times simply scary as hell, movie. Somtimes you feel like in a horror movie with this haunting score, the camera movements and the fact that a lot of the scenes are set in the dark or half-dark.
But at least I won't have to cover my eyes and ears now whenever I see E.T. unlike before. Maybe I'll watch it again someday.

Just got back from watching Grindhouse for the seventh time. It is finally showing in the second-run house here in Wichita and only costs $2.50 for admission and seniors get free popcorn with admission. It was good seeing this movie after a few weeks, and I am growing to really like "Death Proof" more and more each time. It is definitely the better of the two movies included in this Tarentino/Rodriguez Double Feature with faux trailers and such. I hope that the US doesn't get screwed by The Weinstein Brothers and not get this film on DVD as it is shown in the theaters.

With the decision by The Weinstein Company to charge audiences in non-English speaking territories twice for the privilege of seeing Grindhouse, and without the faux trailers, I figured I’d skip this one at the cinema and wait for the DVD release.

Or not. According to Film Ick, the current plans are to release Planet Terror and Death Proof on DVD as separate films, probably some time in July. The Planet Terror DVD will contain the programme from the beginning to the end of that film’s credits. To see the rest of the programme, you will need to splash out for the Death Proof DVD which will start with the half time trailers and run on to the end.

Closer to the end of the of the year - or maybe in 2008 - the two films will be reissued. Not as a double feature but as a faux Criterion edition, with ‘remastered prints’ (properly colour graded and with all the scratch and flicker effects turned off) and packed with extra features.

Can anyone say quadruple dip?

Well with any hope, they're just refering to the Region 2 releases.

In a story from DavisDVD, it seems that Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are wasting no time getting their gorefest Grindhouse to DVD, and it might even be released as two separate discs.

According to Kurt Russell, who was an in-studio guest last Friday on "The Opie and Anthony Show" on XM Radio, he spilled the beans that Grindhouse, when it comes to DVD, will be released as individual Grindhouse DVDs for both Death Proof and Planet Terror (the films that make up Grindhouse) sometime in 2007.

I still don't know what to think- but according to these news sources, Weinstein Company might re-release the movie(s) separate at first. Then again later as a big package. Either way, the Almight $ Reins Supreme.

Watched Letters from Iwo Jima this afternoon. Clint Eastwood did such an amazing job on this film, he truly is one of America's greatest filmmakers. I hope his next project is just as heartfelt and emotional as this and Flags.
