they'll air Starstruck again, don't worry.

As for the Harriet the Spy movie, TWO WORDS: GAG ME!
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

New DCOM Sixteen Wishes:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111801 ... st+News%29
(via tommy2.net)

Starring Debby Ryan, it's about "a girl who has a "be careful what you wish for" 16th birthday." Tommy2.net said that it kind of sounds like the DCOM "You Wish"...

T2 Exclusive: Debby Ryan will sing the opening track in her upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, 16 Wishes. The song, "A Wish Comes True Everyday" was recorded by Debby at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, Canada. She couldn’t help but feel like she was moving up the ladder working in the studio owned by Bryan Adams. Debby has also shot a music video for the song as well.

You know what I don't understand? Why, after the massive sucess of HSM, Disney didn't didn't set out to make more musical DCOMs?

When HSM first came out, I immediatly assumed we'd get a slew of musicals. I guess you might count The Cheetah Girls sequels and Camp Rock as musicals, but I'd still expect even more than that.

Yeah, there were those 2, and then Camp Rock 2 is coming out, and StarStruck is a musical, more or less. I'm sure that we'll be seeing more in the future. They don't want to have every DCOM be a musical, since some people might get sick of them. They don't have as many new DCOMs as they were making a few years ago, so I think that there's been a good balance of the musicals and non-musicals.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the 3 Zenon movies are yet to come to dvd, seeing as those and Halloweentown are some of Disney's highest rated DCOMs....after High School Musical, of course.
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

I don't take much interest in these, but I want the Zenon films badly and I most of all want My Date With the President's Daughter (though it's not really a DCOM, but I believe premiered on Wonderful World of Disney and fits in well with the DCOMs, therefore gets occasional Disney Channel airings). I still need to get a few that I do have an interest in though, including the Halloweentown films. I only own Cadet Kelly, the Kim Possible Movie, and Read It and Weep at the moment. Though, I could easily be forgetting something.

Here’s the artwork for the June 8th release of StarStruck. The movie will be an extended edition exclusive to this release and will also include 3 music videos and 8 “Rock-Along” tracks to sing along with as bonus features. There will also be a 2-disc version which has the same bonus features but will include the CD soundtrack. Like Wizards Of Waverly Place: The Movie, this was broadcast in HD, but Disney will not be releasing this title to Blu-ray.

I thought HSM 4 was cancelled...

I am so excited for this:

SHARPAY EVANS IS BACK IN THE SPOTLIGHT IN
"SHARPAY'S FABULOUS ADVENTURE,"

A DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE SLATED
FOR A 2011 PREMIERE ON DISNEY CHANNEL
-- Ashley Tisdale Stars and Executive-Produces --

The irrepressible diva Sharpay Evans, recent graduate of East High School, seizes the spotlight in "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure," a Disney Channel Original Movie scheduled to begin production this summer for a 2011 premiere. The incomparable Ashley Tisdale will reprise the role she made so popular in the "High School Musical" TV movies and feature film. Tisdale will also serve as executive producer of the movie which was written by Robert Horn (producer of Broadway's "13" and writer/producer of "Designing Women"). Barry Rosenbush and Bill Borden (both of the "High School Musical" movies) will also serve as executive producers of the movie.

In making the announcement, Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said: "In 'Sharpay,' Ashley Tisdale brought to life one of the most memorable comedic characters we’ve seen in years. This movie captures the absolutely perfect next chapter in Sharpay’s life, as she tries to cultivate the humanity buried, deep, deep within her - a challenging and hilarious endeavor."

Aspiring thespian Sharpay Evans, who was once a big, fabulous fish in a small pond (a man-made pond at a resort country club that her father owns), is finally about to meet her destiny on Broadway, and luckily, theater lighting highlights her hair and skin tone beautifully. Her big break comes after a talent scout spots her performing with her dog Boi at a charity gala, and now there’s not a marquee big enough or lights bright enough to contain the glorious fame she plans on having. Sharpay and Boi head to New York, but theatre is a dog eat dog world, and nothing turns out as Sharpay expects, especially when she meets her match in a rather daunting Broadway starlet (who arrived in Midtown Manhattan as a recent winner of "So You Think You’re America’s Most Talented Performing Idol").

The Great White Way is all Sharpay's ever dreamed of, especially since she already has everything else. Life in the big city is a shock, but there's an even bigger bombshell when Sharpay finally realizes the Broadway role is really for Boi, not her. Putting her disappointment aside, she sets out to make Boi the most fabulous canine star to hit the stage, with the hope that his fame will become her fame (after all, she is his entourage and she holds the leash). Before long, Sharpay makes a new friend in a student filmmaker, Callem, who finds her to be a fascinating subject. Meanwhile, Boi finds puppy love on a Big Apple adventure of his own.

Tisdale originated the role of scene-stealing drama queen Sharpay Evans in "High School Musical," followed by its sequel and feature film. A fan favorite, she won an MTV Movie Award and a Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Awards for her portrayal. She is also the voice of Candace Flynn in the Emmy and BAFTA Award-nominated series "Phineas and Ferb." Her other credits include "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and the feature film "Aliens in the Attic." A Warner Bros. Records recording artist, Tisdale's second solo album, "Guilty Pleasure," is certified gold-selling.

In my initial posts on "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure," I posted links to an article which says that HSM: East Meets West would not be affected by SFA.

From link above:
Don't worry, though. The boundless hilarity of 'Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure' won't interfere with production of 'High School Musical 4': That epic is still in the works, also with an expected 2011 release date.

Interview: Danielle Campbell (Starstruck)
http://tommy2.net/content/?p=16648

Not too enlightening. And HSM was filmed in Utah...not Canada... but I guess it didn't say every DCOM lately has been filmed in Canada...
