Ultimate Disney Forum 2006 Secret Santa - WISH LIST Thread
My Secret Santa may love or hate this, but I'm not going to ask for anything specific. My DVD collection is in my signature, so that will give you some idea of my tastes. If you don't want to go down the DVD path, I love science fiction books, and I am interested in reading some of the classics like Robert Heinlein and his contemporaries.
No matter what you choose, I'm sure that it will make my Christmas that much happier.

Dear Secret Santa,
Hi there. How's things going today? You get enough sleep? Have a nice day at work or school? Tired of reading my posts? Can't get enough of them?
No reason for this letter, just a random "Hi, how are you". Thought it'd be nice to have a nice steady communication with you, even though these letters will go one way until after Christmas, lol.
Anyways, I've got nothing new to add to my list, it's just nice to stop by here and say Hi every so often. Thanksgiving's just a week away now! Aren't you excited? My dad told me to look for the "best recipe for mashed potatoes" even though I already told the family I plan on making involtini of beef or pot roast with a pancetta and garlic dry rub as my contribution to the Thanksgiving party. Oh well, might as well humor him and find something worth printing out and trying.

Since Luke hasn't posted it yet, likely due to review and site work, I've taken the liberty of going through the WishList thread, as well as the original SignUp thread and other discussions to determine that the following 27 UD members are partaking in Secret Santa 2006:
(2099net?) - netty hasn't posted in either secret santa thread, but via previous e-mails I'm assuming he did join.

Pretty good turnout. 18 from previous years, and 9 new, just as the Lukester said. Have fun everyone! And of course, I can't leave this thread without another letter to my Secret Santa...
Dear Secret Santa,
I promise, I won't have you pulling hairs out over an ever-changing list (though I'm sure The Little Merman's Secret Santa is getting bald thanks to the 16 edits he's made as of this post!
), but I have a feeling that before this or next week is over I may make one or two adjustments, though they'll likely be positive ones that remove things I know I won't be getting, and replacing them with more affordable-within-the-UD-recommended-budget stuff. And, to add variety, I may add non-DVD stuff (inconceivable!).
By the way, if you could also possibly include Rachel McAdams wrapped in a bow with your gift, I'd be eternally grateful. Ryan Gosling probably wouldn't be too happy, and I'm sure the lovely Ms. McAdams would wonder how she ended up at my doorstep, but if it's in your power, that'd be totally awesome and I'd bow down to you and give you my firstborn (in about 10 years or so).

Aye, I'm being a "grump" and not participating this year. As such.
But I have sent/am about to send a number of "packages of delight" to various forum members (there's nothing worth having inside them, but the packaging is delightful!). So don't think I'm a Christmas killjoy. (I'm only half of a Christmas killjoy, making me a killjoy. Wait... that's not right!)

As always, there is no need to get me what's on my list. I will be grateful for any gift, but some of my interests are Frank Capra, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, David Lean, Sydney Pollack, anything from the 70s, special collector's edition DVDs (expecially Warners 2-disc sets), and of course Disney. I love movies and have been using the special features on DVDs to kind of work like film school in a box. I love film soundtracks, and books on movies, oscar stuff, etc. Anyway, here are a list of some DVDs that I just haven't gotten around to getting to. I have a DVD library of over 600, but it always has tons of room for more great classic films!! (Widescreen please
)
Here are a few wants:
Disney DVDs I don't have:
Big Red (Widescreen please.....OOP Anchor Bay disc)
Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar
The Barefoot Executive
The Bears and I (OOP Anchor Bay disc)
The Castaway Cowboy (OOP Anchor Bay disc)
The Littlest Horse Thieves (OOP Anchor Day Disc)
Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo
Steven Spielberg DVDs I don't have:
The Terminal (Widescreen 3-disc collector's set)
Martin Scorsese DVDs I don't have:
The Age of Innocence
No Direction Home: Bob Dylan
David Lean DVDs I don't have:
A Passage to India
Great Expectations (Criterion Collection)
Oliver Twist (Criterion Collection)
Frank Capra DVDs I don't have:
State of the Union
Platinum Blonde
Sydney Pollack DVDs I don't have:
Tootsie
Absence of Malice
Jeremiah Johnson
The Electric Horseman
Bobby Deerfield
They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
70s DVDs I don't have:
The China Syndrome: Special Edition
Annie Hall (Widescreen please)
Don't Look Now
Other DVDs I don't have:
The Cardinal (2-Disc Collectors Edition)
Metropolis (Restored Authorized Version)
State Fair (2-Disc Collectors Edition)
The Kind and I (2-Disc Collector's Edition)
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll have to go home and look to see what else is on my list (yes, yes.....I do make lists of movies that I want to get
). I know a lot of the movies are out of the price range or out of print, but at least you might get a good idea of what movies I like or, through the miracle of Christmakkuh, find a good deal. Anyway, I'll post more on my list as I can think of them. Again, thank you to my secret santa in advance for whatever you send.
