I think this will eb the major success of all the platinum editions and will outsell all the other platinum titles. I think the marketing will be bigger than any other. I'm so excited that more and more information is starting to come together, October is not so far away and within a month or two we're bound to ahve a cover art preview and possibly the press release :D

I, too, see this easily becoming one of the top 3 selling PE DVDs, perhaps even the 2nd best-selling right behind TLK. I also think it's a great momentun, 7 years after the LE DVD release and being released right before the holidays.

BTW, why didn't 'Aladdin' receive a marketing campaign similiar to that of 'Cinderella''s? Is it because Disney relied on its already huge popularity to sell enough without much promotion? If so, I'm happy they learnt their lessons for TLM - I would hate to see this release flop, regardless of how good the DVD is.

Strangely enough here in Holland Aladdin was the top selling Platinum release. It stayed at #1 in its second week when Shrek 2 came in at #2 :)

Anyway, Little Mermaid will easily become the top selling platinum title in my opinion. It's the most requested one.

Number 2, or a variation of it, would make a great front cover. I actually like Number 3 a bit more, although I think it would work better on the back cover, as a smaller image.

Don't they typically create entirely new artwork for the PEs? I thought that was the case - and I hope that they do that for this release. It's nice to see new images instead of ones we've seen a billion times before. And all the PEs have had wonderful cover art so far IMO, so I doubt this one will be any different. And I agree with those saying this will be one of the best selling PEs. I'm guessing it'll sell between 6 and 6.5 mil.

And there's going to be a TLM Broadway musical? Wow, I just learned something new. Excuse me while I go squeal like a giddy schoolgirl.

Nope. They use the original VHS relrease and play with that; the only exception being Snow White and Lion King.

...just to give a few examples.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up. Not being that familiar with the VHS covers - Lion King being the only one I own - I didn't realize that they were the same. Good to know.

Well, I actually think the Lion King cover is very similar to the original VHS edition, with Rafiki holding simba up on pride rock and then Scar under pride rock, pretty similar in a lot of ways.
