New plan for me. I'll be getting a copy at Best Buy, and I'll get one of the toys for my niece. Can't wait to watch the DVD!!! Hard to resist putting on the old one and watching it. Also, I noticed TCM ran the Sabu live-action version on TV last night!

I wouldn't go to Circuit City, at least not My Circuit City. They didn't have the "Go Bark" playing cards for Lady and the Tramp 2 years ago and that was the reason I had gone there to buy the movie. And yes, I went away with the movie but NOT the freebie.

I think I'll be going to Best Buy, but I'm not sure. If I go to Target, I get the $3 off coupon for "Meet the Robinsons" and a $5 gift card. I already have one $5 gift card from the 10th season of the Simpsons DVD release, so I could pay for most of MTR with gift cards and a coupon. And I don't really need another stuffed animal. I prefer the price @ Best Buy, though.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I just saw a commercial for this. I can't wait until Tuesday. I have not seen this film in years. I am very excited, and look forward to UD's review.

By the way the site Photobucket, is offering a "Jungle book Slideshow" to anyone who has photos on their site. It's very cute, and worth checking out. http://photobucket.com/

omg, I was at F.Y.E yesterday....and I saw them carry back piles of The Jungle Book!! I got so excited I actually asked the woman if I could purchase one early, but of course she said no, not until Oct. 2nd...she told me I could pre-order it but I saw the tag price and it was 27.99!! Forget that I could get it at Wal-Mart for like $14.99 lol. I've also been seeing the commercial a lot on T.V whic builds my excitement even more heh.

I AGREE!!! i'm now even more excited about this than ever! I'm planning on getting to Best Buy when they open at 10AM so I can also get the Baloo plushie. I'm also planning on using a $5 giftcard, so I only get the "set" for $9.99!! :D

While the PE may prove to not be on par with Aladdin's or Snow Whites, it's certainly better than Peter Pans!! :P

Tuesday is inching closer and closer!

:D :D :D

By the way, the review was great! Thank goodness we're getting a decent making-of featurette this time around! After that ghastly 11-minute excuse on the Peter Pan DVD, I thought the Platinum Edition line was going to be damned from ever releasing a quality set again!

Is the original soundtrack on the DVD really 1-channel? I was always under the impression this film was recorded in stereo.

Thanks for the review. The choice of aspect ratio is incredibly disappointing. I can't believe it myself, but I'm on ebay right now looking for the LE version instead. A decent argument was made for altering Robin Hood's aspect ratio (although I don't agree), but I don't see too much if any reason for this new change.

Can anyone suggest a reason not to now get the Limited Edition instead (other than superior coloring)?

WONDERFUL review
It got me even more excited for the release. I keep seeing commercials on T.V., and I keep getting even more excited. Unfortunately I won't be able to get a copy until Saturday. I'm in school, and can't just rush out to get the DVD, lol . I pre-ordered it from the Disney Store, so that I could get my lithos. I have to go pick it up on Saturday.

Less than 24hours !! :D

Actually, isn't the R2 version of that featurette edited down? Technicalities round two! :D

Grrr... :P

Okay...

For our R1 readers:
15 minutes and 59 seconds, but who's counting? Well, besides me. ;)

For our R2 readers, as well as any R1'ers who have the R2 disc as well:
10 minutes and 32 seconds, but who's counting? Well, besides me. ;) BTW, what is the 5 minutes and 27 seconds from our version that was cut out of yours? Anyone got a transcript or something?

For Kelvin:
I'll catch you in a technicality one of these days!

I just got home from picking up my copy of The Jungle Book: Platinum Edition. I went to Best Buy, where I had already pre-ordered it. I was the first one to buy it, and I got the Baloo plushie to go with it. I also pre-ordered Ratatouille (and I think the cashier may have made an error) because I got the DVD and plush for just $5.30. I am so excited! Happy Platinum Edition Tuesday to everyone here at UD, hope you are having as exciting of a day as I am!!

Word of Warning: the $5 Gift Card at Target is ONLY if you purchase Jungle Book AND Princess Enchanted Tales! I am so upset. And I feel bad for the checkout lady.......she thought the coupon on the dvd slipcover was for Jungle Book. I had to say "no, that's for meet the robinsons" when she started to take it off (luckily, it wasn't a sticky glue taped on coupon).

At least I got the $3 off coupon, but I really wish Target would have had $15.99 instead of $16.99. And I think it was poor advertising to force people to buy Princess Tales AND JB to get a $5 gift card. So, I didn't get the giftcard after all.[/b]

ARG, WHY ARE THERE NO TRAILERS ON THIS DISC?! There's no excuse for lack of theatrical trailers on a frickin PLATINUM Edition DVD.

Still buying it though. In a couple of hours, as a matter of fact.

Bought it in between classes at Best Buy, along with a stuffed Baloo (he'll go well with Flounder). Also preordered "Meet the Robinsons" and got "Hercules" on DVD.

I'm really looking forward to watching it when I get out of class @ 6.
