Dumbo: Special Edition Blu-ray and DVD Discussion
Really strange that Disney is so quiet on this.
Here's what I want to know: has Disney officially given up on Cine-Explore?? This was easily the coolest Blu-ray exclusive feature, but Snow White didn't have it. Now it looks like neither Dumbo nor Princess and the Frog do either.
I thought it would have really spiced up the Snow WHite commentary if they would have added all sorts of production art and picttures from the period to it.
Also, I am disappointed that when they make a new commentary they drop the old one... Sleeping Beauty didn't have the previous one and now it looks like Dumbo won't have the one that's been on the DVDs so far.
Rather disappointing...

The mentioned german specs are just the blu-ray exclusive footage in addition to what's known about the UK-release (which was apparently just for the DVD)

I'll assume "Featurette: Celebration of a masterpiece" is Celebrating Dumbo (14:51) from the 60th Anniversary Edition. I'm just surprised they didn't get a Disney Channel star to make a music video (I almost miss it lol).

Sure, I'm not suggesting they make a Cine-Explore track for the old commentary on Dumbo. I just wish they would include the old commentary as an extra audio track. As is, I will need to hold onto my old DVD, as I find the commentary interesting and quite detailed.ajmrowland wrote:I think that Cine-Explore is gonna be only for new commentaries.
I suggested it would have been nice if they made a Cine-Explore track for the commentary on Snow White, but only becuase they did not make a new commentary. Seems like they could have done one with a bunch of production art and what-not.
But as long as they do them for the new commentaries I'm satisfied.

Does anyone know what Rites of Passage (2:59) is? Since Disney has made no official press release for Dumbo and it's already out in Mexico, maybe someone there can confirm/deny some of these extras.
EDIT:
Nevermind, I got this right off of Amazon UK, confirming it's Magic of Dumbo: Ride of Passage (not Rites of Passage):
Also, seeing how much they listed under BD Only, you might as well buy the Blu-ray release as the DVD release is just a single disc (the same disc that comes with the Blu-ray release). This is truly the best case they've made for the Blu-ray holdouts to upgrade to Blu as they don't lose a thing.

Well, Magic of Dumbo seems like nothing more then a commercial, being just under 3 mins long. I was hoping they would talk about it more and maybe the new Dumbo section going into WDW. The trailers aren't listed on Amazon, let's hope they're still there, as they were previously listed by the BBFC.Amazon wrote:Blu-ray Special Features

Apparently Disney Marketing now a days are going George Clooney with their release schedule Up In the Air
Disney buyer: so....when are you going to announce and clear up and clarify when these releases such as Dumbo, Fantasia, Beauty and the Beast and others that apparently people are confused about because you won't release plans
Disney Exec: on the 5 day of the 13th month of the year I promise
Disney Buyer: I think Im going to be a Shrek fan now....goodbye

Well after checking out the the mixup music store website for the dumbo mexican import and going back to amazon.co.uk i have decided to go ahead and pre order from amazon.co.uk even though its a month after the mexican release. the mexcian import after shipping costs was going to come out to almost 40 bucks us while amazon.co.uk price on site was listed as £16.79 however once i put it in my cart and went through checkout it came up as £14.29 with £3.08 for shipping total of £17.37 which converts to aprox 27.66 US which is not much more than what this will probably be had for upon its release in the us (unless of course we get another 10.00 off coupon then of course the us release would be much cheaper)
other factors in choosing amazon.co.uk is the fact that they dont charge your card till the item ships, while mixup music charges right away.
the release date is far enough out that if disney gets off its butt and announces a us release date in the next few weeks, i will have plenty of time to cancel. i am really hopeing that disney announces a us date soon and that we see a 10.00 coupon for this cause i would love to have dumbo for only 9.99 on bluray such as what snow white was able to be had for but if the uk or mexican import turns out to be the only option for awhile then i can live with a price of 27.66
