Frozen: Part III

After looking through my collection of "Wreck-It Ralph pics" through last year, I realised that from the start of March through June 6 when the 1st trailer was released, only 4 images of the film was released during those 3 months! So I can now except if Disney does the same thing with Frozen. Lucky we got those 3 poster to atleast give us something til June. Hoping some more images gets release during this time period this year, but if not, we've seen this just last year. It's not time yet!

No, thanks for posting. Most of us just assumed it would be Henry Jackman. Why couldn't Robert Lopez write the score as well, anyway?

While I don't find Beck's work (including Paperman) particularly impressive, I guess he'll do.

I don't know enough of his music to judge right now. Might have to check some of it out. I enjoyed the music for Paperman. A bit of a departure from the usual for Disney.

And not to keep harping on it, but I'm so baffled by the fact that they would hire two people--one to create the score, and the other to give them a similar approach with the songs that Menken perfected--when they could've got both in one by keeping Menken himself on the project. After both this and TP&TF, it feels like Lasseter is just pushing him out. At least he's still got Broadway shows, I guess.

Forgive my memory, but the guys behind Tangled aren't the same ones behind this, right? I could understand why Menken wasn't on this if they were the ones behind this film, since they didn't seem very open to him while he was working on Tangled.

No the Tangled directors aren't involved in Frozen.

No, Frozen is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee while Tangled was directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno.

In any case, I don't think that any of the filmmakers really matter. It's management who usually make these decisions.

I KNEW Bobby couldn't provide a whole complexe movie score with narrative clues, emotion and adventure flavor...
SO now, with Bobby's wife, it's 3 people working on Frozen score, and i'm loving it... Just remember how many people worked for Cinderella music for instance : Mack David, Jerry Livingston, Al Hoffman, Oliver Wallace, Paul J. Smith !!!

True, "Love Can't Be Denied" is a gem from heaven... But, to me, Menken was a bit tired and un-inspired lately. When some "strangers" or new composers step into Disney score, it's always quite good indeed ( Henry Mancini, Bruce Broughton, James Newton Howard, Elmer Bernstein...)

I hope that Christophe Beck will impress us, he HAS TO, it will be his first big move for a Disney Classical Fairy Tale. I also hope the 3 will work as a team, and that Beck will use musical themes of the songs in the score, while creating some beautiful, moving, mysterious new ones too.

PS : the catastrophy with Tangled score is that you never can hear a proper precise musical pattern, and that Menken NEVER use his own songs theme during it, except a bit of "i see the light" when Flynn is healed. So the score is very boring and impersonal. Guess he wanted to try something new, challenging. Ok, we have a little hint of guitar here and there, but IT IS NO Joni Mitchell-Cat Stevens-Medieval Woodstock he promised !!! (much more Avril Lavigne when you hear the first song...). Or maybe he was very tired by all the changes of the story, and all the fights in the departement. The songs are still very good (WWMLB 2, MKB 2, Healing Incantation and Kindgom Dance are Menken golden potion). Sorry , i'm out of topic.

I liked the score for Paperman but Beck's resume doesn't look overly impressive at the moment. No reason he still can't do a good job, could anyone more familiar with his work give their opinions of him?

Of course, there is still a chance this news is false, only one site is reporting it thus far.

In the Frozen IMDB page, he doesn't appear yet, but we can guess that information is real. Robert and Kristen were lyric writers of Winnie the Pooh, and Henry Jackman composed the score.
Anyway, like ALL involving this film, we'll know it when Disney want =/

IMDB isn't reliable. They have had Josh Gad as the voice of Olaf for months and we are still without official confirmation. I do think this news is real if only because I can't think of a reason to make it up and Beck has been working with Disney a bit lately, not only with Paperman but also for The Muppets. I wouldn't take it as a given yet though.

While IMDB has some false info, 90% of the time it's legit.

As for the link I posted, I think it's reliable. That site always posts updates on composers. There's no reason to believe it's wrong and seeing as how Beck worked on Paperman and The Muppets, I'm sure it's correct.

They're usually right, but I think anyone can change the info.

Case in point, I also belong to a Narnia forum/news site that always does April Fools jokes. One year they "broke the news" that one of the forum members, who happened to look just like the description of a character, had been cast in the movie as that character. Next thing you know, the lady was listed on the cast on the movie's IMDB page.

I liked the Paperman score, and I'd like more music in that vein for Disney. Frozen could use a little something that is unique, in terms of Disney movies at least.

What does that even mean?

I'm just saying The Lion King had a separate composer for the score. And both the songs and the score are phenomenal. I don't see what the problem is with having multiple composers. Winnie the Pooh also had its songs seamlessly integrated into the score.

This has nothing to do with whether The Lion King was supposed to be in some different type of vein or whatever.

While I love Zimmer's score, I'm not so fond of the songs. The only ones I like are 'The Circle of Life' and 'Be Prepared'. I actually think Elton John's songs for The Road to El Dorado are better overall than that of The Lion King's. I'm probably alone in this belief.

I think each song in The Lion King is a classic. and I'm not even that big a fan of the movie itself. I think it's okay, but it has some pacing issues.

I'm now going to try my hardest not to comment on El Dorado. I'm at a risk of going into a multiple page rant about how much I hate that film. The songs are at the very top of my hatred.
