That something many TLM fans forget about, I think, including myself. I'd love to see that!Vermin Friends wrote: I think they should also include a scene where Ariel goes up to the surface, near the end. If not, then Triton should ban music and going to the surface- but only allow the former at the end of the film.

I believe you were refering to me.xxhplinkxx wrote:Forget what, exactly?
I think most fans, including myself, is that Ariel had to visit the surface for the first time ever once. In the original movie, Ariel visits the surface and we accept it as an audience, it seems normal to us. Imagine her awe when she first saw the moon or the sun for the first time in (apparently) ten years. She'd sneak away from Triton with Flounder. They swim up to the surface. Ariel finds a rock eerily similar to the rock in the TLM poster. She looks up at the night sky... oh, it'd be beautiful!

Yes!Vermin Friends wrote:By the way, I know some of you guys talk about the songs from the film- is there some kind of a list, or preview?
Disney Song Selection
With this option turned on, the words to the songs appear on the screen allowing you to sing along.
• Athena's Song.
• Just One Mistake.
• I Remember.
• I Will Sing.

Also, the new Marina song reminds me of this Ursula vid for some reason.

Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

Me too! I saw that video right before I found the Marina video, and I thought it was fan-made, dubbed with Ursula's song, but I gave them another listen and turned out that they were two different songs.nachonaco wrote:Also, the new Marina song reminds me of this Ursula vid for some reason.

That could work out, too. Hmm... I think that she could probably change her clothes any time she wants, though...supertalies wrote:Do you think this is the song where she changes her purple outfit into the pink one we saw in the preview?Vermin Friends wrote:This ought to get the discussions going again:

I have to agree with mooky on this one:
Ursula could have been banned before the whole music banned issue, and then she disguises herself as Marina to get back at Triton and gain power in the kingdom, OR she is Marina in disguise because Triton knows that she is a sea witch like her sister and her mother.
I think that for Disney's last DTV sequel (or prequel in this case), they didn't want to bring back Ursula obviously and show that "Oh, Ursula is the villain again guys!", and I think some people would find that boring for a new plot line. That's why they wanted to try something new that they haven't really done before: Bring the main villain that everyone knows and loves back, but have her disguised as a similar female villain who's voiced by a famous actress.
I think they are trying to give us hints by showing that:
A. Marina uses magic
B. She has a purple color scheme
C. She wants power (as Triton's adviser)
D. The eels (as mentioned before)
E. (Random, but): She looks similar to Ursula on the cover of the DVD.
Just my two cents...again!
Oh, and btw, here's an example of Ursula Concept Art Vs. Marina's Dress:

And a lot of the art on that page shows Ursula's cone shaped back thingy, which looks like Marina's underarm cone shaped...thingys.

I'm pretty sure the YouTube account belongs to the animator. If you look at the name at the bottom left-hand corner of the video, and then check up on his account profile, it's the same. And, he has some previews of some of his other works, too.Vermin Friends wrote:Thanks so much for the birthday wishes, guys! lol And I'm glad you guys like the video, too! I love it!

As for the continuing discussion of Marina being Ursula, this could go three ways:
1) She's not Ursula at all, but just inspired by the character- as sort of a "final tribute" to the sea witch. Like how in TV shows based on movies, there's usually a character- usually a big villain, who is heavily based on a villain from the film. Besides, why would Marina change her name to Ursula? And if Marina turns into Ursula, how do we explain Morgana, who is an octopus (squid, whatever), whereas Marina is a mermaid?
Could be a decent explanation, no doubt
Besides, why would Marina change her name to Ursula?
So as to fool the merpeople
And if Marina turns into Ursula, how do we explain Morgana, who is an octopus (squid, whatever), whereas Marina is a mermaid?
It's not entirely certain she's a mermaid right?
It may just be her current form.
Besides in the case of Morgana you're looking for continuity here, when in the past there's nothing to back that up, for instance how do you explain Scar having offspring in The Lion King 2: Nuka and Vitani are his, right?
That's never proparly explained either!
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool
