Ariel has the biggest fanbase, I think.
Kida has a quite big fanbase too, though. Here: http://www.noble-scarlet.net/kfu

I don't think dressing up in pretty outfits is the same thing as relating to a character.

 I know. What I'm saying is, I know that girls can relate to Ariel, but she still has a fin! And the girls like the pretty outfits, but can't really relate to the others as much, probably because they're older (or at least seem older). Jasmine is young, relatable, and she has a pretty outfit that's not over the top. Perfect!

ok i'm looking at this in non bia view, and determining it from merchandise/ and fanbase wise.

The top has to go with either Cinderella or Ariel. Those tow are the most merchandised I've ever seen, and both are the most talked I've ever seen. online or in real life.

after that it's Belle. However I started to notice the raising merchandise for Aurora latley which might have to do with the fact that she getting a new animated "movie" for first time ever since original film in the Princess Enchanted Tales.

Sadly Jasmine next however she was more popular back in the 90's. doesn't seems so now even, with her new Enchanted Tales appearence.

Last is Snow White. Walt is crying in his grave.

I was feeling a bit grouchy last night when I posted, so apologies if I offended anyone.

I've been struggling with flu for 2 weeks now, and still not feeling completely over it.

I think I need to watch Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid tonight to cheer myself up.

I think Cinderella has the biggest fanbase. A lot of people love Cinderella, but they don't act obssesive over her.

I think you're probably right. I think she had the most memorable dress and stuff. And, plus, she's blonde and kind of stereotypically pretty....so I guess maybe that makes sense.

I think the results say it all. Though, they didn't ask "which princess is YOUR favorite..." I think Ariel is the most popular because as a Mermaid she stands out more.... :P Plus her DVD just came out, which is why I'm not surprised Cinderella is #2 either. I did notice that Jasmine isn't on the poll! She's pretty damn popular too!

Well my favorite princess will be Nancy after Enchanted comes out!
*spoiler*
If Disney considers her a princess, which she should because they consider all the other "princesses" princesses because they married the prince. haha!! that probably made like .01% sense.

Once again, I'm sorry about that. I would rate Jasmine as my third favorite princess, but I forgot her. If it helps, I love Aladdin. When ever I do an election for a movie to watch I always bring up Aladdin.

Nancy is Patrick Dempsey's character's feonce before they break up, she basically switches places with Giselle. Giselle marries (?) Patrick's character, while Nancy marries the prince.

*end spoiler*

Atleast that is basically what I remember from Idina's interviews.

Interesting point about her not being a princess based on lineage! I voted for Ariel even though I don't know hardly anything about the majority of these princesses since I haven't seen most of these movies. Based on observations which include what I see little girls wearing, who has the most Disney product, it seems to be Ariel. My favorite is Snow White - she holds a special place in my heart.

Do you guys think there ever could be an Ariel backlash? She is toooo popular and you know how it is when something gets too popular, it becomes passe' (gets old hat, yesterday's news). So the girls then latch on to a newer less appreciated princess in order to stand out and be different. Or is that just not possible in the girls through tweens world? Like when everyone buys the Razr phone, but now it isn't cool because everyone has one...

I thought that too actually, but you know, I figure that fans of Ariel will always stay fans, and theres always new generations of people always coming out and watching The Little Mermaid for the first time, and that then creates a whole new set of fans. Ariel's been around for a while now and I think in the past 18 years her appeal is still at its all time high. I think it works that way for a lot of characters actually. Snow White is 70 years later, and there are people barely discovering her and absolutely love her. So it really just depends on each individuals take on a character and weather they become a fan or not.

Anyways...
I voted for Cinderella, because I think her appeal is worldwide, since her story is in like 300 different versions. Plus I think a lot of people(not just little girls) share that "Cinderella" Dream and I think thats apart of why she's such a success and has so many fans. She's also been around for a solid 57 years and still going strong.

I like Cinderella, but my favorite will always be Belle or Ariel.

Yes, a long time she has reined - she was "thee" princess when I was a little girl, but I think Ariel has taken her crown away from her. I do think this is a generational thing. In other words, the generation of girls who grew up with Ariel are now the ones with little girls of their own so they are "pushing" Ariel on their little girls, because they liked her so much when they were little. Just my guess.

OR is it possible that Cinderella is too "old fashioned" and Ariel is seen more like a modern gal of today (more like a feminist or something)? I have not analyzed this, and Im sure this has been discussed here in these forums before. :?:

hehe Pluto Region1 I just now coincidentally responded to something similar to that in my edited post :)

Oh but yeah, it does depend on generations from now...who knows Maybe the Frog Princess could be the next Ariel or something hehe, the Princesses are forever growing.

that is exactly why i used to dislike her. i used to think that she was not as great as she seemed, and that it had been ruined for me because she was over-exposed, and not THAT great. but if you ignore all the hype and stuff, Cinderella really is beautiful, and the movie really is very good.

I have a theory about Cinderellaholics vs. Arielaholics.

Cinderella fans don't constantly yell about loving Cinderella, unlike Ariel fans. Perhaps part of the reason for this is that Cinderella herself is more demure, where as Ariel is known for her rebellion, spunk, and spirit. Ariel is the stereotypical redhead. (Ella is -not- the stereotypical blonde, however. She has a head on her shoulders.) In the Cinderella fandom itself, it's similar to those who identify with Cinderella versus those who identify with Anastasia. In the Swan Lake ballet, it's Odette's versus Odille's. Enduring good swans versus conflicted brazen swans. The list goes on.

And I stand here by my lonesome, being amused.
