If there was anything new, we would probably know about it by now.RodryCroft wrote:Hey guys, is the D23 Spring Magazine out already??? The official page says so!!

Jim Hill: I actually asked Candance, the PR rep who gave Nancy and I our walk-thru of the Mattel pavilion on Monday afternoon the exact same question. Because -- based on my experiences at the Toy Fairs I've previously attended -- the prototypes for the dolls for Disney's big holiday release for that year should have been on display. Candance explained that everything was fine. Everyone at Mattel is really excited about the "Frozen" product line. More importantly, that all of the dolls associated with this Walt Disney Animation Studios will be on store shelves six weeks ahead of "Frozen" 's November 27th release date.
Reading between the lines here, I think that this was more a case that Mattel & Disney are just super-excited about the commercial possibilities associated with "Planes." And rather than have this DisneyToon Studios production be overshadowed by Disney's next Princess movie, they just opted not to bring those floor models & prototypes with them when they came to New York to do this year's American International Toy Fair.
If it's of any consequence to you, last year while I was Walt Disney Animation Studios, I got to see a lot of concept art for the various characters & settings featured in "Frozen." And that movie looks just amazing. And based on what I've been hearing from WDAS insiders about the way the music & the story are coming together (i.e. the second & third act of this movie are now ridiculously strong. They're just making some minor tweaks to the first act now to make sure that all of the later story beats pay off to maximum effect), it sounds like a pretty amazing movie.
So please hang in there. I know that you're itching for "Frozen" news. But it sounds like this late November release from Walt Disney Pictures will really be worth the wait.

I have a feeling they are stalling so internet fans can keep on the edge and slowly churn out new info.Sotiris wrote:Source: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... -fair.aspxQ: Where's Frozen?

Just got my copy in the mail today - without trying to sounds greedy, I was definitely expecting more than a single image and a 5 sentence blurb. That sucks.Sotiris wrote:Here you go. I remember Jim Hill was trying to tell me 'Home on the Range' would be one of Disney's funniest movies of all time.Sotiris wrote:Source: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... -fair.aspxQ: Where's Frozen?

I've been burned by his enthusiasm too may times before.
The fact that they went with Planes over Frozen at the Toy Fair, well, that's telling you something, & it ain't good.PatrickvD wrote:I remember Jim Hill was trying to tell me 'Home on the Range' would be one of Disney's funniest movies of all time.Sotiris wrote: Source: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... -fair.aspx

Well I think it says one of two things:qindarka wrote:What is it supposed to be telling us?
One, they aren't all that confident in Frozen, and either aren't ready to or don't want to debut the toy line yet. (Or possibly simply don't want the toys to be our first look at the characters).
Or two, since Planes is going to be a huge merchandise machine, certainly moreso than Frozen, they just want to focus on that right now. I think that's more likely.

The fact that they went with Planes, a film that was originally to come out direct to DVD over Frozen, their 53rd animated feature is disappointing. But then again Planes is a Cars spin-off with merchandise as it's main factor. As for Frozen, the few pics that have been released/leaked have been met with nagative response, from the changing of the story from Gerta & Kai, to the character designs. They're prossibly dreading the day in June when they'll finally release the 1st trailer, but they can only keep this film "Hidden" for so long.qindarka wrote:Option two seems a lot more likely as well, given the huge success of the merchandise based on Cars. And also the fact the Planes will be released before Frozen.
The people who care enough about the concept art and story changes to complain about them make up only a small portion the potential audience.DisneyEra wrote:The fact that they went with Planes, a film that was originally to come out direct to DVD over Frozen, their 53rd animated feature is disappointing. And I'm not saying the final result will be good, but what information we have indicates that Disney are pretty confident about the film.
Because there is nothing to talk about. To the extent that we making speculations based on bloody merchandising. The majority of things we are arguing about right now will all be forgotten once the movie is actually released.TsWade2 wrote:Why is everybody being negative?
