Explain Your Avatar
I got a bit bored with my Pocahontas avatar (I'm changing it back before May 3rd, though!) so I changed it to that of someone's wonderful fanart of the adorable Nakoruru-chan from Samurai Spirits fame.
The actual image was a bit, erm... risque so I had to crop it to what you see now. I like the image with her hair fanning around her and whatnot. (Yes, she's lying on the floor.)

Well, I always just shrink the image using the default Windows XP image viewer (so it's more of a pseudo-shrink) and then crop it to a size I like using ScreenRip32.IggieKuzco wrote:alright... im trying to upload a new avatar but its too big how do i reduce it to the right size??
If you mean the size of the file and not the size of the image, I just save the file at 96% compression quality or something (using ScreenRip32).

Check your picture properties and for Opens With... select "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer." It should be an option... I'm pretty sure.
(If you're using ScreenRip, make sure that under "Save Options" you save at 100% compression--or else it'll compress at the default 75%.)

Well, Iggie, the maximum dimensions for an avatar on this forum are 140x140 pixels. If you have a way of resizing your image by pixels (instead of by, say, inches or centimeters), then just reduce the largest side (length or width) down to 140... hopefully (like with my program), the other side will reduce automatically, too. I use HP Image Editor - it came with my printer. But I'm sure that fancy art programs like PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro can resize images with ease.
One other option is just to email the image to someone (I'd be glad to do it, myself) and they can resize it for you and send it back - then you can upload it to your profile.

Paka may I say you're looking specially gorgeous tonight? I love the colors
Iggie, here's two program's paths as examples to help you guide you. Look for similar stuff in the apps you have:
On Graphic Converter the menu path is Picture:Scale: and check Size and Proportional and type 140 pixels on the box for the longest dimension.
On Photoshop5 it's Image: Image Size: and on the Pixel Dimensions area you choose pixels instead of percent and type 140 for the longest dimension on the box and check Constrain Proportions and Resample Image and there choose between Nearest Neighbor, Bilinear, or Bicubic. (Bicubic is bettah for large upsizes but for shrinking, depending on the image any one of the three might have and edge (if you wannago to the trouble of checking each
)
Then if the file is not compressed into jpg already, when you do it, just check it's not bigger than 35kb for uploading (it ussually is not that big anyway even if you compress minimally)

If you're using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, all you need to do is pull on the corner of the window and make the box either larger or smaller. The image will shrink (or remain the same fit-to-window size) accordingly.IggieKuzco wrote:umm.. okay.. but now that i have this what how do i reduce it?Key wrote: No prob. ^-^

That rules beyond all reason. I like the coloring and the idea.Sunset Girl wrote:As for mine, I wanted to symbolize my affection for both Disney and shoujo anime, so drew an idea I came up with a while back. (And let me tell you, I really need a scanner; I forgot how much of a pain it is to draw with a mouse!)
See, the daughter of the main character in Sailor Moon was originally called Sailor Chibimoon. In the English version, they decided to translate the name into Sailor Mini-Moon. I found that rather hilarious and I couldn't resist creating a visual pun out of the name.
Thus, we have Sailor Minnie Moon!
Sailor moon was a great anime. And Minnie looks cool like that.
Changed my avy (again!) from Nakoruru to Chii-chan of "Chobits" fame.
[EDIT: Omfg! I can't seem to stop changing avatars. ): I changed it yet again from Chii blowing the petals off a flower to that of Beast and Belle's semi-silhouettes dancing. "The last love song on this little planet" is the tagline for this manga serie called "Saishuu Heiki na Kanojo."]

Thanks. I like my Bewitched Avatar, I found it a few years ago on a Bewitched Fan Club, and have had it on my 3 computers and never used it until now.orestes wrote:DisneyGuru should get in here again. I saw a Bewitched avatar and I'm jealous.![]()
Hmmm I think my next avatar might be a Bewitched one too when I feel like making one.
