Disneykid wrote:I actually would prefer it if Mowgli were on the spine since, you know, he is the protagonist. It doesn't really bother me, though, since this film is sort of a buddy picture, in which case having Baloo on the spine isn't so far-fetched.
I see your point; however, Baloo is cuter! :) Perhaps as jrboy stated, maybe Mowgli will be on one side and Baloo on the other, that is, if you keep your slipcover on.

I don't use my slipcovers (except for my "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" one, since the spine of the case doesn't have the movie title on it).

I kept my Chron. Of Narnia slipcover due to it being diffrent and attractive not to throw away. Tossed my other slipcovers cause I thought they'd suck up space, wish Snow White and Tarzan had a slim dvd size, could've made room for Curse Of The Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest on my Platinum shelf.

As for J.Book's spine, I agree with Simba, Baloo defintly earns the right of being on one side and Mowgli on the other, hopefuly we'll get some sneak previews from the dvd along with the disc art.

I expect that lighthousemike will give us a glimse of the screencaps, disc art, menus, and the DVD booklet around mid September! I can't wait! Hopefully the discs will not be like the ones used for "The Little Mermaid" and "Cinderella", I don't like that reflective surfice on the disc, I would rather have it look like the discs to "The Lion King" or "Beauty and the Beast". And since we already have confirmation of "Sleeping Beauty" being the Platinum Edition for fall 2008, the booklet won't be quite as exciting. Still looking forward to seeing everything though.

i can't wait for this platinum release because i only saw this movie once when i was about 4 years old so i can barley remember it and like many people i never even owned the vhs version . i remember Baloo the most especially during that dance scene :) everything about this release seems good so far(love the cover art! and very nice looking transfer from watching the trailer), so it will probably be a strong platinum edition.

The guy selling those lithos on eBay says he preorders 30 of each Disney movie that has lithos...I find that strange...I just needed to get that off of my chest.

Jungle Book Lithos

I love the Shere Khan peice, shows how truely powerful he is, I like the river scene of Baloo/Mowgli but they could've done a more memorable one. The Mowgli/Kaa piece was very fun and wonderful to look at. As for the cover, I love the back, wish they had that pose of Baloo/Mowgli on the dvd cover (more powerful not to dominating)

I really like the revised cover art as well, though Bagheera looks comically small up there in the corner.

BUMP

Just wanted to let everyone know the Official Website for The Jungle Book is up and running. It looks good! Games, downloads, movie trailer, preorder... it's all there! There is also a place that tells all the DVD bonus features and I am SUPER EXCITED to say that there WILL be a Disneypedia: JungleMania! segment. I thought that this feature was long gone from the Platinum Edition DVDs, but I am really glad it is still here, it is one of my favorites.

Go check out the site!

I was just thinking back and realized this is the first Disney movie I saw theatrically when it had one of its theatrical releases back in the 80s.

I will definitely add this one to my collection and I can't wait to see it again. :)

The 2nd and 3rd wallpapers on the TJB website disappointed me- they look like cheap drawings that don't even look like the characters...more so Mowgli doesn't look like himself. :( I'm using the 1st wallpaper on my desktop.

Yay!! The website's open!! :D To me, this just means we're getting even CLOSER to the release date! :D :D Can you tell how excited I am? :P

I agree with you blackcauldron. The backgrounds look really crappy. I was hoping they would be more along the lines of...well, previous PE website backgrounds (Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, etc.) But I guess not. I'm also REALLY dissapointed by the screen saver. You see, it's my own tradition to download the screensaver as soon as it's available, and then display it on my computer until the set comes out. Then after I've watched the film, I generally change it that day or a few days later depending on my mood. But it generally serves as a reminder to me about how soon this set's coming out and to also get "pumped" about it. :P

Again, I CAN'T wait!!!

Perhaps you'll like it more than you remember, especially seeing how it has been quite a while since you have last seen it. That has happened with me on a couple of occasions of re-watching a Disney movie.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned yet but the Disney Store is now taking preorders for the Jungle Book. I got my lithographs on the weekend along with a special snowglobe of Mowgli and Baloo that you can get for $5.00 when you pre-order.

As a side note for any collectors, whatever regular snoglobes are still in stock have been discounted to $14.99 to make way for the new wave coming out soon! Awesome deal considering they usually go for around $100.

I checked out the site and I love the lil soundbytes from the characters, especialy King Louie's line. Ol' King Louie *scat* that's me, that's a perfect way to introduce him and Kaa's line in the movie clips was perfectly well placed with Baloo/Mowgli havin' fun.. I agree with Amy (BlackCauldron) bout Mowgli's design, his body look okay but the facail is abit off in the background pics, Baloo looks pretty good and more on model, though I wish they did that famous pose of him/Mowgli dancing, holdin' hands, it wasn't too dominating on the cover. As for the site, I love the Color It activity, can't wait for the dvd's bonus feats to show up. Bring on Jungle Book Platinum Disney.
