Catch and Release - Surprisingly enjoyable rom-com partly to thank for the often times hilarious supporting cast.

Pan's Labyrinth - Nothing short of spellbinding-- a beautiful masterpiece from del Toro.

Notes on a Scandal - Delicious performances by both Dench and Blanchett and a marvelous adaptation of Heller's novel by Patrick Marber. "Scrumptious" is a word that comes to mind.

Agree on all counts about those movies Merman. It was money well spent seeing this films. Critics are really hating "Catch and Release", but who are critics anyway. Good choice of movies.

No. It wasn't meant personally. It's the same as me saying - "throw your opinion out the nearest window," or "your opinion can jump out the nearest window." If you actually threw yourself out a window, I would feel terrible and tell your families I told you to do it.

And I didn't say that it wasn't lovely. I just said it was boring. Lovely and boring go together sometimes, you know.

Well... I guess you have a point there. But just the fact that it's lovely means it's not really boring. I thought the most boring parts were the "Peter and the Wolf" and "The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met." Granted, they weren't very boring, but they weren't as great as the other parts of the movie

I watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It was actually pretty good but it was a little too predictable and some parts of the movie I wanted to see more developed (ie, the epic battle scene). In general however it was a good movie and it was certainly a good blind buy.

Jim is super hilarious in this! It's really a good movie, however it's not up to the original animated film.

Pans Labyrinth- I absolutely loved it.

Happy Endings- FINALLY!! I'd been wanting to watch this movie forever!!! I thought it was pretty funny and I enjoyed it.

Sherrybaby- I'd heard good things about this and that Maggie Gyllenhaal gave a good performance. I agree that she did but I felt that the story was only half told.

As for the whale...it's a good segment but I felt it dragged on a bit, though the ending is quite shocking, as it's an on-screen death in a Disney film.

Of the package films, my favorite probably is Ichabod & Mr. Toad, though that's more of a double-feature than a package.

I didn't care much for "Blue Bayou", but loved "Peter and the Wolf".

Peter and the Wolf is not as exciting as it was toted to be. The music is good, but I also didn't like the colors of the animal characters, other than the Wolf (or, Bonk). Blue Bayou was very good in my opinion because it was... well, if I can get away with coining this phrase when I'm only hoping it works somehow - great Disney atmosphere. There's no story to it, sure. But it's a nice song and the animation is very fantasy / dream-oriented. It's good because it's uneventful. It was very fluid and soothing.

Favorite segments will always be "All the Cats Join In" and "Two Silhouettes".

I love Two Silhouettes. All the Cats Join In is real nostalgic fun, the music is great.

As for the whale...it's a good segment but I felt it dragged on a bit, though the ending is quite shocking, as it's an on-screen death in a Disney film.

I have quite a few problems with the Whale segment. First, it's too... how do I say it? Ucky... that the Opera singer does all the voices in the piece. It's often much too strained that he's doing the part of the whale, then he has to do a woman singing (which he's not good at imitating) and a cat talking. The ultimate point of sonic irritation, while yes still somewhat brief, are the College Professor characters. My eyes bulged... at the sound of that moment. Every time I watch that moment, I have to make fun of it. I am left with no choice. Then, the next thing... the Three... things in his throat (my Biology to English Handbook escapes me) that makes him sing in multiple voices. That is such a gross image. I get the major ills every time I see that. I can't remember the other thing that bothers me, but if I do, I'll probably say something later.

That is shaping up to be my least favorite of the package films. Mostly because of the Mr. Toad segment. The best moments in that shorter film aren't better than... Average. So you'd think, that by nature, the Ichabod part would then be so much better... But for the most part, it's not. Of course, the Brom Bones telling the Story scene and the big Headless Horseman Chase at the end are amazing. But the scenes leading up to them are often not as good as memory serves. Watching it is a different story.

Why thank you, junkie. I really don't understand how anyone could hate "Catch and Release"-- critic or not. I thought it was a perfectly enjoyable way to spend a rainy day.

I saw Alpha Dog on Monday. I've never heard so much cussing at one time in my entire life. But on the other hand, it is a true story and they were trying to depict the characters as they are in real life. It was very sad, but the story was interesting.

Dear God.... 367 F-words?! I thought The Departed would hold that record for a while, apparently not... Alpha Dog's got it beat by at least 130 F-words....

Wanted to watch some stuff blow up, and since I'm now officially caught up with 24, I decided to pop in M:I:III. Great action flick.

Right now I'm watching Cinderella II and it is, hands down, one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Would Cinderella ever actually say "ew" when referring to her hair? I don't think so...
