I think most kids don't like Beauty and the Beast until they're older. I didn't. I found it boring as a kid. (And the main draw for me was always the villain of the film. At the time, Gaston didn't impress me. So the rest of the film followed.) Now that I'm an adult, Beauty and the Beast is my second-favorite animation, second only to Hunchback.
I've heard a LOT of people say the same thing about Hunchback. "Oh, I hated it as a kid, but now that I'm an adult, I GET it." Or something similar. But I always loved that one it was the first film I ever saw in the cinema and it had me from the moment the Bells of Notre Dame began. (Then again, I was the kid that seemed to like the dark, weird films that made other kids cry... It's why Batman Returns remains a favorite of mine!)
As for Doug Walker... Yeah, some of his reviews are down-right insulting in the amount of wrong-headed information presented in them. But to me, what's worse are the fanboys who immediately take HIS views on films just because they're his. (Go read some of the comments on the original Disneycember videos and try not to punch your computer screen.) The biggest example of this, I find, is Hunchback. Hunchback has been maligned for years as one of Disney's 'worst' and 'flawed' films. Then Doug Walker comes along, talks about how "It's flawed, but I love it," and now THAT is the line pretty much anyone says about it. Or "If it weren't for those gargoyles, it'd be a great movie."
About B&B romance sorry I've offended anybody, just that it worries me a little... that's all. But it's still a great movie and yeah found it dull as a kid but as a adult the movie is magical. Same with Hond.
The fanboys are just sheeps just following the framer. Nothing but. It's their own sad problem for following somebody else's opinion and not their own.

There are probably some kids who consider it boring. But I was seven years old when it was released and there were girls at my age and younger who really liked the movie. I, however, liked it when I became an adult.ProfessorRatigan wrote:^Agreed.

Considering that on IMDB, Cars has a 7.3 rating, ranking higher than, for example,Oh, great. Doug seems to be another "Cars" hater. Do we really need one of those? Don't we have enough of them?
Ichabod and Mr. Toad - 7.1
101 Dalmatians - 7.2
The Rescuers - 6.9
The Great Mouse Detective - 7.1
Pocahontas - 6.3
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 6.7 (!)
Hercules - 7.0
Tarzan - 7.0
Lilo & Stitch - 7.0
The Princess and the Frog - 7.1
And is tied with Cinderella, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, which also have a 7.3 rating, I'd have to say, no. We don't have enough people who hate that film. And Cars is one of the lowest rated Pixars on there.

IMDB users are predominantly men biased towards Disney. They prefer PIXAR.ProfessorRatigan wrote:Considering that on IMDB, Cars has a 7.3 rating, ranking higher than, for example,Oh, great. Doug seems to be another "Cars" hater. Do we really need one of those? Don't we have enough of them?

I mean those ratings for 101 Dalmatians and Lilo & Stitch is just... sad. Both are at least a 7.7

@ProfessorRatigan: Yeah, that's really sad. Every film on that list is superior to Cars. Maybe HOTR, Dinosaur, Chicken Little, and a few others should be lower than it, but not much else from Disney. Pixar, in general, are overrated. Really glad I don't pay attention to IMDB.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Cars gets way too much hate on here and the Internet. Cars 2 was one of the worst movies of all time but its predecessor was actually very enjoyable. Certainly better than some of the movies that have been listed. IMDB may be slightly biased toward certain flicks but it's hardly surprising, this being a Disney forum that people feel they are all better than Pixar. That view has been voiced many times throughout the years.

I was talking about movies in general, not only Pixar movies. And frankly, I consider "Cars" to better than several Pixar flicks. In fact, most Pixar flicks are highly overrated.Avaitor wrote: Very well. At least I think so. There are worse films than "Cars".
There aren't a whole lot in the realm of Pixar, though.
