FINALLY. Not that I don't love it now, but hopefully it will bring more thrills in '11!

Looks like crap or should I say, I'm not impressed. Supposedly this will have multiple versions, I really hope I don't get the mix with the pod racing. If this is autosteroscopic 3D (without glasses) and they upgrade the simulator cars to not be so rough, then I'm onboard for whatever the new film is (minus the pod racing). Hopefully REX or someone equally entertaining is piloting.

I'm excited for the update but not excited by what I've seen

I know what you mean though. I'm still, lets just say, anxious to make a real opinion.

Well, you'll have to wait until 2011. It'll be fine though, I'm sure. To paraphrase what someone else said on another message board, even if you weren't overly fond of the first movie it doesn't mean that it won't make a great attraction.

So many people know and love the original movies that they have to be included. On the other hand, there is a whole generation that grew up with the newer films, so they have to be included as well. Not to mention the kids just getting into SW via the Clone Wars series.

I think that it will still be a tour concept, (thus the name!), and in keeping with that concept, the ride will be taking guests all over the galaxy. If they do the 20 different beginnings, middles, and endings, then it will be different almost every time you ride it.

Is the plan really to have it be a different experience each time?

Rumor is... that's the plan! Hopefully its true. They did say that they were going to do things that have never been done in a simulator ride before.

Since executives announced Saturday that Disneyland's "Star Wars" attraction will be overhauled to reopen in 2011, fans have been trying to get them to crack loose some details, with limited success.
"Star Tours II" will be in 3D and "much more than a redo," Bruce Vaughn, chief creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, said in a press conference Sunday near the end of Disney's D23 Expo for fans.

The original "Star Tours," which will be retired in 2010, is a motion-simulation flight through space.

The 3D clip shown Saturday in announcing "Star Tours II" was from the pod racing sequence of "Star Wars: Episode I --The Phantom Menace" (the film that revived the franchise in 1999, 16 years after the completion of the first trilogy).

That choice created rumors that the new "Star Tours" would be fashioned around the pod race. Vaughn discouraged that idea, saying the attraction would include several worlds from the George Lucas films.

Scroll down to the post by "Snowman" if you want to read a little about his experiences being cast in the new Star Tours. Not really any spoilers, but it mentions some lands and whatever:

And now that ride is officially gone from Disneyland, with WDW's version not too far behind (I believe that Florida's ride will close this September).

Did I think that maybe I should hold off so I can experience the whole attraction once I finally get on it and it'll all be new and fresh for me? Yes. Did I watch the video. Yes. :p That was great- I do love Star Tours, and I will miss the old version, but bring this version on!!!

I agree this version is definitely something to look forward too, even though I like the current attraction.

The video is great.
