The dvd cases

Post by Natedogg9129 »

What is it with warner Brothers always selling their movies in those cheep cardboard cases, not the ones harry potter is sold in, but the "fold overs" with the snapping spine? has anyone else noticed this?

Well, they've actually stopped producing those types of covers. If you take a look at any WB movie released in the past 6 months, you'll see they're in amaray cases (the normal plastic ones). My guess if they must've gotten a ton of complaints from consumers about the crappy packaging so they decided to abandon those which I'm personally glad of.

Anyone else find it odd that we've yet to receive high-res art for the Harry Potter DVD?

I like the cover for the DVD but I was really hoping for the movie poster to be on the DVD. Harry does look a little weird but overall it's a pretty good cover. 8)

Amazon's posted a slightly bigger and sharper pic:

It bugs me that the spine doesn't say "Year Three" on it and that it doesn't exactly match the previous two, but as long as the inevitable SE's of the first two match this cover, then I'm fine.

Bleh I guess that means it's the official cover then. Why oh why did they abandon the great continuity they had going on? :(

Oh well, I'll be buying regardless.

I really wish it said Year Three on it. I'll hate to lost that w/ the SEs. It makes them more like the book, and I always thought it was cool, much better than a simple I or II.

www.dvdanswers.com actually updated their cover art. It does look like the one that DisneyKid posted but itsstill diffrent. Harry head on the spine is higher up and the top banner says "2-Disc Widescreen Edition"
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

Aha, thanks for pointing that out! The one on DVD Answers is MUCH better because the spine exactly matches that of the previous two.

Maybe I have different versions of the first two movies than you, but on mine, Harry's head is at the bottom of the spines, and the WB logo is at the top. Which is the opposite of the Prisoner of Azkaban spine.

Yeah, which is unfortunate. If you take your DVD out, flip it around, put it back in the slip-cover, and then display the other side of the DVD facing out, you'll get Harry at the top. Maybe I'll just do that to make them match.

yeah.. I dont like it, but it will match that way. Now if only the "Harry Potter" was in silver colors like the movie posters.... Perhaps it'll end up in a similair packasging once it hits stores.. I sure hope so

Oh, I see! Well that's nice. I'll definitely be doing that when I get Prisoner of Azkaban. Maybe having a keepcase won't be so bad after all :)

Umm...what's with all of the hullaballoo about taking the DVD's out of the slipcovers and turning them around? If the DVD is inside of the slipcase with the front covers of both facing in the same direction (and if you have the DVD's facing in the direction of any other DVD), then it should already match up with the PoA DVD (with Harry's head on the top). Sounds to me like you guys had your DVD's in backwards...

Who says that's backwards? I really liked having them with the spine of the slip-covering facing outwards, and the folds of the case itself on the other end... makes it look more like it opens from one end. It's really a matter of preference, though.

Yeah, though now you must have the first two DVD's facing the righ-ahem-, the opposite way on your shelf in order to match the third, mwahahaha! ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We don't have to be happy about it, though.

One possibility occured to me earlier today. What if the DVD will come in a slipcase? And the slipcase will have Harry's head at the bottom/WB logo on top. Then it would very much match, because the slipcases would all have the same spines, and then the cases that held the actual DVDs (digipacks for the first two, keepcase for three) would all match as well (with Harry at top, WB at bottom).

Interesting, Satoshi! Hmm, I wonder. Does WB ever give slip-covers to amarays?

I don't believe they ever have and I doubt they'll do it with Harry Potter, though Satoshi's idea is very good because then everyone wins.
