Well, I recieved the R2 UK release today and have had a quick look.

Firstly, anyone who likes it when Studio Logos are altered to fit the movie will love the opening Walt Disney Pictures logo on the film - one of the best examples of it's type since the Moulin Rouge! 20th Century Fox opening logo. :) I love altered Studio Logos.

I've not watched the movie - but all the supplements are included. Strange that there should be a commentary on the deleted scenes and not on the movie itself (especially considering how loaded the Inspector Gadget II DVD was) but I can confirm that this is the case.

The UK doesn't get the DTS soundtrack (for once :)) but it does have several European languages and many more subtitles streams.

I am familar with the character, but only in passing based on the cartoon. I did not see George of the Jungle 1 because it is only avaialble in P&S.

I will probably post a review later today or tomorrow if I get time to watch it (still have 2/3rds of Stitch! to watch).

John Cleese is providing the voice in the sequel for Ape too, and Lyle is played by the same actor Thomas Haden Church.

Hmm, I wonder how Lyle comes into play in the sequel. Actually, I can probably guess.

Why was he killed in the original? If so, did you see the body? The first rule for deaths onscreen is did you see the body? I cannot stress this enough :)

I don't think he was killed (though I don't remember for sure). It just seemed kind of a dead subject. In any event, I really wish they'd put the original out in widescreen. It's a fun movie. (Even if I don't remember exactly what happened to Lyle.)

Lyle Didn't Die! he married a gorrila by mistake.... and then he floated away into a dark cave with the gorrila on a boat with the gorrila kissing him and lyle struggling to get away. that was the last we saw of him.

I'm relieved about Church.... But cleese isn't in it! i just checked it out at:

Well, here's my mini review of the film. Before reading remember I never saw the original movie, and unlike most of the public I liked the Rocky and Bullwinkle live-action movie.

I understand some people are annoyed that Brendon Fraser is not in the film, but they make a few jokes about this and my wife certainly didn't object to Chris Showerman :x Still all's fair I suppose as I didn't object to Julie Benz.... ah, the delightful Julie Benz....

... where was I?

Oh yes, I can understand if people who liked Brendon Fraser don't like Chris Showerman but it's no different than the James Bond movies or such.

As for the film, it was exactly like I was expecting - narrator and all. Really it was just like a live action Jay Ward cartoon. Fill of the same groan inducing jokes and puns. I can't really see how anyone can actually complain of the movie if they are familar with Jay Ward. It's exactly what is says it is - a live action Jay Ward cartoon.

All in all it was an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half. Each of us (myself, my wife and my daughter) laughed at different jokes, so it seems to have a little for everyone.

However, I would have to place it below both the live action versions of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Dudley Do Right. But perhaps this is just because I am more familiar with those cartoons over George of the Jungle.

Sounds good to me.... and knowing me, i'll either laugh at all of them or i wont laugh at any of them. I personally hope that it's the first.

The only of these three cartoons that I am a little bit familiar with is Rocky and Bullwinkle. And I actually like it the least! (even though i liked it alot) My favorite I would have to say is dudley, followed by george (1) and then R&B. :P

We just watched the Behind the Scenes featurette and it's hilarious! One of the funniest supplements ever and done in the style of the movie.

Fantastic. We all enjoyed this. We never knew how important the studio parking lot was until the documentary crew got kicked out of the stuido and had nothing else to film.

George of the Jungle 2 Review

Post by MickeyMouseboy »

Hello Everyone!

I'm back with another exciting review! This time we get the review of the sequel we all have been waiting for! ( ) George of the Jungle 2!

Plot

George is back, and this time he's got to stop his scheming mother-in-law and Ursula's ex-fiance from taking his wife and son out of the jungle!

Video

Presented in 1:85.1 Anamorphic Widescreen. The video is crip and clean like any other Disney sequel. So, noone can complain about this transfer.

Audio

It comes packed with all of them  5.1 digital, 5.1 DTS, French 5.1 Digital, and Spanish 5.1 Digital.

For this review I just used the 5.1 Digital since I didn't care to even watch it with DTS since it was stupid from the beginning till the end but anyways nice mix and all, like every Disney sequel it gets nothing but the best! How about treating your animated classics the same Disney!

Bonus Material

Behind the Trees- Making of George of the Jungle 2, Interview with Christopher Showerman (George) and other cast. Some what amusing. for how long his last I wasn't paying attention I just wanted it to stop lol but in average I'll prob say about 6 or so minutes.

Vine Surfing Game- a game! lol

Deleted Scene- 7 deleted scene with optional commentary (see snapshoot for tittles)

Jungle Bungles- Bloopers, Did anyone say stupid?

Register your DVD- The best bonus feature in this disc! What does it do? No clue :?

Sneek Peeks

Freaky Friday - Doesn't mention extras
Lion King 1 1/2- same as lion king DVD (If i see that one more time I'm going to go crazy!)
Finding Nemo DVD
Santa Clause 2
Brother Bear

Conclusion

Let's just say I won't be watching this for the next century or remaining of my lifetime! While i was never in with the original It brought back memories why I didnt bother with it. While this has some quotes like "He hits the tree like brandon fraiser" , "This is a Disney movie let's keep it educational" and "as george meets Brandon Fraiser to get some tips" still the movie is mediocre and stupid. Defently a stinker not worth spending $19.99. If your kid wants it try looking for it below the $5 dollar rank cause unless you want to rent it......... It's on the MMB most hated and worst movies of all times!

I would say that if you enjoyed the original cartoons of George or Rocky and Bullwinkle, or the Jay Ward films (George 1, Dudley Do Right or Rocky and Bullwinkle) then you'll enjoy this. It is an aqquired taste and most of the 'jokes' are groan worthy rather than laugh worthy - but George of the Jungle 2 is what it sells itself as - a live action Jay Ward cartoon. The recasting doesn't bother me, but I can understand how it would upset some people.

As for the supplements, it's a mixed bag. The vine surfing game is the usual Disney nonsense that will bore any kid in a few minutes. The "making of" I thought was quite fun. It's the same sort of humour as used in the film and I was thankful that we got something a little extra rather than the normal EPK lovefests we usually get where it's always "Great to work on the movie" or "Great to work with so-and-so, they're such a giving actor" etc. And MMB, I bet you never knew how important the car park was in the making of a film until you saw this featurette? The Deleted Scenes are deleted scenes. Personally I don't get excited about seeing brief 30 second shots removed from a movie. For people who do, there's a wide selection and you can watch them with and without commentary. It's a shame the film itself doesn't get a commentary - Inspector Gadget 2 got 2!

down with Dsiney sequels they always ruin the good ending from the first movie and they can never get back all the actors and actresses from the first one.
