Plus, did you guys see the cute little Kate Middleton paper doll you can dress up in Disney princess dresses, courtesy of our favourite company?
http://family.go.com/disney/pkg-disney- ... er-doll-t/
It appears you can dress her in the dresses of Snow White, Aurora, Ariel (that horrible pink one
), Cinderella (ball gown and wedding gown), and Belle. It's really, really disgusting (though not surprising) that they'd stoop this low, but for some reason, I can't help but think the doll and dresses themselves are kinda cute.

Of course little girls would love it. I would've. I think it's cute now, as much as I dislike it. But it's low because it's cashing in on two real people's wedding. They're making it seem like Kate is a fairytale princess, which, while she might look like one, is complete nonsense. They're dressing her up in their own outfits. It just upsets me, but I can understand if it doesn't upset you or Victurtle. I guess I'm just sensitive about these things. Does this upset anyone besides me?SWillie! wrote:I don't understand why that's "low." It's not like they're charging for it. Little girls will love it.
Oh, another reason why I don't like it is because I did a research paper a couple years ago on how the Disney Princess line affects girls. And it was kind of scary how girls can get about princesses, pretending they're princesses all the time and living in that world. Of course, most if not all of that comes from bad parenting. But still, I think treating princesses today as if they're the same as Disney princesses would reinforce a girl's ambition to become a princess, which I don't feel is a healthy goal for a modern-day girl.
EDIT (to avoid double posting): The thought just occurred to me. Did Disney make a big deal out of Diana and Charles' wedding? I wasn't around then.

I think it's dumb, certainly, but these sorts of things always have shameless cross promotions, and Disney was never a company to pass up a shameless cross promotion.

Shame on Disney for cashing in off this event. I think it's disgusting. They're not even the US's monarchy, their ours up here in Canada.Linden wrote: Of course little girls would love it. To be honest, this wedding is starting to turn into a freak show. I've been looking at some of the photos on the CTV website of all the so-called Royal "fans" camped outside of Westminster Abbey, wearing Union Jacks and sleeping out on the street like a bunch of homeless people. It's supposed to be a celebration for two people that are in love - not a Star Wars premier. I really don't know what happened to the times when people would just dress-up in nice clothes and be out on the streets in an orderly manner the day of the event, and just waving small flags rather than being dressed up in them (which, isn't it against protocal to "wear" a flag?)... but this? Camping out 3 or more days to get a good view of, like what, maybe 2 minutes of Kate in her dress? C'mon. What the hell happened to society?

Seems like everyone is in this "I got to be there", "I got to get it first", "I got to beat myself in the chest like a gorialla and rub-it in the faces of all my acquaintances" mentality. And they've got to text it/Tweet it to all their friends.

Probably not. It's all thanks to the internet and social media. Sad. Very sad.EDIT (to avoid double posting): The thought just occurred to me. Did Disney make a big deal out of Diana and Charles' wedding? I wasn't around then.

Having said all this, since they are our monarchy, I may tune in a little bit to the wedding, but I'm much more interested in watching Space Shuttle Endeavour's final launch tomorrow.

I don't think it's all the internet's fault. Disney wasn't that big in 1981 when Charles and Diana married, and home video wasn't either.Barbossa wrote:

You'd think Disney is wrong for offering these, but with so much wedding related crap being made and offered, they know there's a market for it.

Advice Fit for a Princess

Congratulations William & Kate! Now that the pair is officially a Mr. and Mrs., we thought it would be a good idea to get some advice from the experts. Who better to offer Kate tips and guidance on being a princess than the Disney Princesses themselves? Take a look at what some of our most treasured characters had to say. (a) Believe/hope/call Fairy Godmother.
(b) Whistle a lot.
(c) Do some extensive archaeology.
(d) Read some really awful novels.
(e) Hopefully not have the same nightmare more than once.

Don't forget she needs to learn to bake (with help from the forest creatures) as Prince William is sure to hunger for Gooseberry pies! Or is it apple pies that make the men folks' mouths water?Wonderlicious wrote:

*I'm surprised Disney didn't promote the Princess Diaries movies, especially the second one, "The Royal Engagement." I immediately thought of the Prince William scene when the wedding was first announced.

From what I heard...singerguy04 wrote:I can't help but wonder what Ariel, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Rapunzel had to say. Maybe they're not fans...
Ariel couldn't speak during the filming and was more concerned with snogging Prince Eric so that she could get her voice (and overall dignity) back. Rapunzel was to be approached, but Mother Gothel intervened with a sleazy song-and-dance number. Disney camera crews arrived at the Sultan's palace to find that Jasmine had disappeared somehow. Pocahontas was scheduled to appear but had to give into parental and societal pressure over seemingly congratulating the rulers of the "savages" who almost wiped out their society. Mulan was filmed speaking words of encouragement and utter wisdom, but her part was exised since she isn't technically a princess, and because her words were considered "too deep" by one studio executive.
Oh, and Giselle, now a successful artist in New York, has now become a firm anti-monarchist and Marxist after four years reflecting upon her home society and the problems brought upon it by its dysfunctional royal family.
